To help you get the best results from your equipment, please read the following instructions carefully.
Adjusting for maximum sharpness (focusing). Marine-3 monoculars feature eyepiece focusing with close focus to
9 yards. The large depth of field generated by the 7x50 specification means the instrument delivers focused images
from approximately 50 yards to infinity distance. As a rule for general observation over 50 yards, the monoculars can
be ‘set’ with the zero marks on the eyepiece tube positioned directly above the vertical line marks on the main body.
Focusing at close range (below 50 yards) is facilitated by turning the eyepiece anticlockwise.
Wearing glasses. Marine-3 monoculars deliver full field of view with or without glasses. To ensure the maximum
available field of view is obtained, the fold down rubber eyecup should be in the ‘down’ position when viewing with
glasses. Be sure to return the eyecup to the ‘up’ position if you or anybody else wants to view without glasses.
Care and cleaning. Marine-3 monoculars require little maintenance but occasionally the outside surfaces of the
eyepiece and objective lens will need cleaning. To avoid damaging these surfaces please read the following carefully.
(i) Gently remove excess dirt and dust using compressed air or a lens cleaning brush. Caution: Hard and persistent
rubbing of dirty surfaces can cause abrasive scratches on the surface of the glass which may distort viewing.
(ii) Breathe on exposed glass surface and then wipe with an optical cleaning cloth (code 30277) in a circular motion
until the surface is clean again.
Do not attempt to dismantle the instrument as this will invalidate the guarantee.
WARNING. Never under any circumstances use a monocular to view the sun. Doing so will cause serious damage to
your eyes.
We hope you will get a great deal of pleasure from your new Opticron monocular. If you have any problems or
damage the instrument in any way our Service Department is on hand to help you.
