Intended use of the device
The device is designed exclusively for grinding to the extent specified in
the technical and operating parameters and functions, safety and user
instructions and external influences of the operating environment.
ORAVA appliances are manufactured according to the knowledge of the
current state of technology and recognized safety and technical rules.
Nevertheless, incorrect and unprofessional use or use contrary to the
intended purpose may create a risk of injury or endanger the life of the
user or a third party, resp. damage to equipment and other property.
Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.

This symbol alerts users to the risk of failure to observe the safety
instructions when using and operating the equipment: Danger of
serious injury or death! Danger of equipment damage or other
property damage!
Transport/Carrying
• Only transport/transport the device after a thorough inspection of the
area and the route, which must be unobstructed. When carrying, make
sure that your hands and the device are not wet or slippery.

Unpacking/Packaging
• Unpack the device and accessories before putting them into operation
and dispose of all parts of the packaging materials, labels and tags.
Keep packaging materials in a safe place, especially out of the reach of

Inspection/Commissioning
• Never use the device if it is incomplete, damaged or any part of it has
been damaged during use. Have the device repaired by a specialist
garage.

Warning!
• The device must not be used by children. Keep out of reach of children.
• The device is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities.
• The device is intended for household use.
Location/Installation
• The device must be used and stored on a stable surface.
• Always make sure that the place where you want to place the device
has sufficient space, stability, mechanical strength.
Caution!
Do not place the device:
- on uneven and unstable surfaces,
- close to heat sources (oven, etc.),
- in direct sunlight.
• Do not place any objects on the device.
Warning!
• Do not allow children to manipulate (play with) the device. The device
can tip over and cause serious injury. Mechanical damage (cracking or
breaking of parts and covers) of the device can cause serious injuries.
Danger of very serious injuries! There is a risk of damage to the device
or other property damage!
Cleaning/Maintenance
Cleaning the outside of the device
• After using the grinder, clean with a damp cloth or soft brush and then
dry.
• Do not wash in the dishwasher.
• Do not use metal objects, petrol, thinners or abrasive cleaners, etc. for
cleaning to avoid damaging the surface.
• Store the device in a dry place. Danger of serious injuries!
Ecology
• By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent potential
negative consequences for the environment and human health, which could
otherwise be caused by inappropriate waste handling of this product on the
environment and human health, which could be the consequences of incorrect
waste disposal. Contact your local authority or the nearest collection point for
further details.
• Improper disposal of this type of waste may result in penalties in accordance with
national regulations.
• Keep the plastic bag out of the reach of children, risk of suffocation.

Description of parts
1 coarse grinding wheel
2 fine grinding wheel
3 handle
Before first use
Unpack the grinder and remove all packing material. To remove any dirt
from the grinder that may have formed during the packaging process, clean
it with a dry, lint-free cloth. (See „Cleaning and Maintenance“ in this
manual.) Clean the surface with a cloth dampened with water.
Then dry it thoroughly.

Preparation and operation
Location
Place the grinder and press it on a flat and firm surface so that the grinder is
firmly in place. Sharpening
Sharpening
Part 1:
Part 1 is intended for the first grinding,
respectively rough sharpening the blunt
knife to create the correct blade shape.
Insert the knife completely towards the
device with the handle and pull it evenly
towards you at least 3 times. When grin-
ding the tip of the knife, gently raise the
handle so that the curvature of the tip is
evenly sharpened.
Part 2:
Part 2 is intended for fine sharpening of
the knife blade to create a perfectly sharp
blade. Insert the knife completely with
the handle towards the device and pull
it evenly towards you at least 3 times.
When grinding the tip of the knife, gently
raise the handle so that the curvature of
the tip is evenly sharpened.
Note:
• After sharpening the knife, remove any sharpening residue that may
remain on the blade with a damp cloth.
• Always pull the knife evenly outwards, not back or forth and back again -
the result of sharpening would be uneven. Never insert the tip of a knife
into the groove and do not push it towards the bottom!
• Do not apply strong pressure and always grind only clean blades to
avoid premature wear of the grinding wheel.
• Always sharpen the knives so that the blade is at an acute angle to the
grinding wheel (as determined by the shape of the groove). Grinding at
the wrong angle can destroy any blade.
• Always test the blade of the knife by cutting a slice of food. If you find it
blunt, repeat the sharpening procedure until the blade is sharp.

Cleaning and maintenance
• Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the device itself.
• Do not use any solvents or harsh cleaners.
• Do not wash the device in the dishwasher.
Warning!
Never immerse the device in water or any other liquid!
The device does not require maintenance. There is no work on or in the de-
vice that the user should do. In the event of a malfunction or visible damage
to the device, contact customer service.
