Whereverpossible,recyclethosematerials.
• Weadvisethatthisphoneshouldnotbeusednear

Installation and Charger
1. Connectthemainsadaptor(supplied)
to the socket on the back of the base
unit and to the wall mains supply.
2. Connect the telephone cord to the
phone socket on the back of the base
unit and into the wall phone socket.
3. Insert2rechargeableNi-MHAAA
batteries(included),observingthe
correctpolarity,into the batterycompartment on the
handset. Slide the battery door firmly into place.
4. Placethehandsetonthechargingcradleandcharge
thebatteriesforafull14hoursbeforeusingitforthe
first time.
Note:
Itmaytakesometimeforthecordlesshandsettopower
up,anditmaygetwarmduringinitialcharge.Thisis
normal.
Tip!
Itisgoodpracticetoputthecordlesshandsetonthe
charging cradle when it is not in use to ensure that the
handset is always fully charged.

: A constant signal icon indicates the
cordless handset is linked to the base unit.
Whensignaliconisflashingthehandset
needstobere-registered.
Note:
The signal icon will also flash if the handset is out of range.
Answering an incoming call
Whenthereisanincomingcall,thephoneringsand flashes
onthedisplay.IfaCIDrecordisreceived, flashes and the
caller information is displayed.
1. Press[ ] key to answer the call.
2. Press[ ] key again to end the call.
Making an external call
Normal dialling
1. Press[ ] key.
2. Enter atelephonenumber. If you enter morethan12
digits,youonlyseethelast12digitsonthedisplay.
3. Press[ ] key to end the call.
Pre-dialling
1. Enteratelephonenumber.
2. Whennecessary,press[ ] to erase the digit
individually.
3. Press[ ] key to dial.
4. Press[ ] key to end the call.

Mute feature
PlaceacallonholdsothatthecallerwillNOTbeableto
hear you but you can still hear the caller.
Duringtalkingmode,
1. Press [ ]keyonthehandsettomutethecall, is
shown on the display.
2. Press[ ] key again to resume the call.
Handset range
Youreco70/700handsethasarangeofupto300metres
outdoorsandupto50metresindoors,inidealconditions.
Ifyoucarrythehandsettoofarawayfromthebase,you
may go out of communication range and the antenna icon
will flash on the display.
Ifyouarealreadyonacallandmoveoutofrange,thecall
qualitywilldegradeastherangelimitisreachedandthe
callmaybedisconnected.Youwillneedtomovecloser
to the base to be able to continue the call and make any
further calls.
Checking the signal strength
The signal icon displays the link status between your
handset and the base unit. A steady icon means your
handset and the base unit are linked. A flashing icon
means your handset and the base unit are not linked.
Ifyoumovetoofarawayfromthebaseunitwhileyouare
onthephone,youwillhearwarningtonesnotifyingyouthat
your handset is almost out of range – lost link. Take your
handset closer to the base unit or your call may be cut off
shortly after the warning
Note:
Ifyourhandsethaslostthelinkwiththebase,youwillnot
beabletomakeorreceivecalls.Youwillalsonotbeable
to carry out many of the phone functions and features.
Important notE:
Emergency Call. This telephone is not designed for making
emergencytelephonecallswhenthepowerfails.Alternative
arrangementsshouldbemadeforaccesstoemergencyservices.

Recall selection
YoucanusetheRecallbuttononyourtelephonewhenusing
yournetworkoperator'sservicessuchascallwaitingetc.
Asubscriptionmayapplyfortheseservices.Contactyour
networkoperatorformoreinformation.Ifthisisnotworking
correctly,changethesettingusingtheinstructionbelow:
Selecting recall duration:
1. Pressandhold[ ]for3seconds.
2. Thedisplaywillshow“L”or“S”
(L:NewZealand;S:Australia).
Handsfree mode
Duringtalkingorstandbymode,
1. Press[ ] key to switch to speakerphone mode.
2. Press[ ] key again to cancel this feature.
Volume adjustment
Duringstandbymodeadjustthehandsetringervolume.
1. Press[ ] key.
2. Press[ ]or[ ]keytoadjustthehandsetvolume
level, there are 5 volume levels and Volume off for
selection.
Duringhandsettalkingmodeadjustthehandsetreceiver
volume.
Press[ ]keyrepeatedlytoadjustthehandsetvolume
level(5volumelevels).

If you subscribe to your telephone operators service
(chargesmayapply),numbersoftheincomingcallswillbe
displayedonthescreenandstoredinthecalllog(please
consultyourtelephoneserviceproviderfordetails).
Theeco70/700seriescanstorethelast20callsincluding:
therecordnumber,date/time,andphonenumber(upto23
digitsforthecordlesshandset).
Whenyouhavenew/unansweredcalls, flashes on the
cordlesshandset.Ifacallhasbeenanswered,thenthecall
is set to old call.
Call waiting (Australia only)
Youcanusetherecallfunctiontoanswerasecondcall
whileyouareonthephone.Howeverthisserviceneedsto
beturnedon.Forexample,toturnonTelstra’sCallWaiting
service:
1. Press[ ] on the cordless handset to wait for dial tone
thenpress[ ][4][3][#].
2. Youwillhearaservicetonethenpress[ ] again.
Take two different calls at the same time
Duringacall,youwillheartwoloudbeepsperiodicallyto
notifyyouofanother incomingcall.Ifyouwish toanswer
thiscall,
1. Press[ ]key.Youwillhearadialtone.
2. Press[ 2] to put the current call on hold and talk with
the second caller.
3. Repeatsteps1-2toswapbetweenthetwocallers.
Review Caller ID records
Duringstandbymode,
1. Press[ ] key to display the latest call. The following
will appear on the display.

thePhonebook/Directmemoryisnotfull.
WhileyouareviewingtheCIDrecordthatyouwishtosave,
1. Press and hold [ ] key for about 2 seconds. The
following will appear on the display.

pressthenumerickeystoedittheCIDnumberandthen
press[ ] key to confirm.
3. Pressthememorylocationno.thatyouwanttostore

4. Press[ ] key again to confirm and go back to standby
mode.
Therecordisnowsavedintothephonebook.Thenitgoes
back to the call log.
Delete CID record(s)

Calling a number from the CID records
WhenyouareviewingtheCIDrecords,
1. Press[ ]or[ ] key to scroll to desired number.
2. Press[ ] key. The number will be dialled automatically.

phone,youwillseeanenvelope icon when there is a
voicemailwaitinginyourserviceprovidersmailbox.
Retrieving Voicemail(s)
Toretrieveyourvoicemail(s),consultyourserviceprovider.
Clearing the Voicemail indicator
Aftercheckingyourvoicemail(s),thevoicemailindicator
willbeclearedautomaticallyafterreceivingasignal
fromthenetwork.Youcanclearthevoicemailindicator
manually if it fails to reset.
1. Removethebatteriesofthehandsetunit.Waitfor30
seconds.Insertbatteriesagain,thevoicemailindicator
will be cleared.

(1to9foradjustment).

Thereare5levelsforadjustment:1(lowest)to5(highest)

Multi-handset Operation
Youreco70/700seriesphonecanhaveupto5handsets
registered to the base unit. Each handset has its own number
HS-1,HS-2,HS-3,HS-4andHS-5,shownontheleft-hand
sideofthedisplay.With2ormorehandsetsyoucan:
• Makeintercomcallswhileonanexternalcall
• Switchbetweenanexternalcallandintercomcall
• Transferanexternalcallfromonehandsettoanother
• Seta3-wayconferencecallbetweenyourself,an
external call and intercom call
Note:
•Amaximumof1xexternalcalland2xintercomcallscan
take place at the same time.
•Ifyoumakeanexternalcall+anotherhandsetisonline
= result in a busy tone.
•Youcanmakeanintercomcallwhentheotherhandsetis
in progress.
Call transfer between cordless handsets
Duringexternalcall,
1. Press[INT]key.Thefollowingwillappearonthedisplay.
2. Key the handset number (2, 3, 4 or 5) you wish to
transfer.
3. Press[ ]keytoexitIntercommodeandreturnto
standby mode.
Conference calls
Thisfunctionallows3parties(yourself+externalcall+
intercomcall)tobeconnectedatthesametime.
Duringexternalcall,
1. Press[INT]key.Thefollowingwillappearonthedisplay.
2. Keythehandsetnumber(2,3,4,5)youwishtoinviteto
the conference.
3. ThenyoucanhaveanintercomcallwithHS-x.
4. Atthismoment,youcanpressandhold[INT]keyfor3
secondstogoto3-wayconferencecall.
Cordless handset keypad lock
Duringstandbymode,
1. Pressandhold[ ] key to lock the keypad.
2. Toreleasekeypadlock,pressandhold[ ]keyfor3
seconds.

Registration
Register new handsets on the eco70/700 base
The handsets which come in the same pack are already
registeredtothebase.Ifyoubuynewhandsets.Youneed
to register them before use.
1. Chargethebatteries(for14hours).
2. Registerthehandset(tothebaseunit).
the operation is different in eco70 and eco700.
Ineco70,weneedtosetthebaseunitinregistrationmode
by resetting the base power.
Ineco700,wecansetthebaseinregistrationmodeby
pressingandholdingthebase[ ]for10s
Eachbasecanregisterupto5handsets.
Duringstandbymode,
1. Pressandholdthe[ ]keyfor3secondsuntilboth
the[ ]and[ ]iconsash,thenpressandholdthe
[ ]keyfor3seconds.Thefollowingwillappearon
the display.
2. Press1andthehandsetbeginstosearchforthebase.
3. Enterthebasepincode(0000).Ifthepiniswrong,the
handset will restart searching for the base.
4. Whenthehandsetisregistered,itwillshow“HS”followed
by the handset number.
Note:
Ifthebaseisfullandcannotaddanymorehandsets,you
willhearatone.Seethenextsectiontoremoveahandset.
Remove handsets
Duringstandbymode,
1. Pressandholdthe[ ]keyfor3seconds,thenpress
andholdthe[ ]keyfor3seconds.
2. Enterthedefaultvalue0000.Ifthepiniswrong,the
handset will go back to standby.
3. Pressthenumerickeys(1-5)toenterthehandsetnumber
youwanttoremove.
4. Theunitwillgobacktostandbyiftheremovalis
successful.
Note:
Youcanonlyremoveotherhandsetsinyoursystembut
youarenotabletoremovethehandsetyouareusing.

ANSWERING MAChINE OpERATION (ECO700 ONLY)
Thebasehasabuilt-indigitalansweringmachinewith
arecordingcapacityof11min.Theansweringmachine
can be operated remotely and features the possibility of
recordingtwooutgoingmessages(OGM1andOGM2)
(maximumof2min).
There are 2 possibilities:
• WithOGM1,thecallerhasthepossibilitytoleavea
message
• WithOGM2,onlytheoutgoingmessageisgiven
withoutthecallerhavingtheopportunitytoleavea
message
Themax.recordingtimeforeachincomingmessage=3
min.
Aninternalvoicewillstatevariousinformation,suchasday
andtimeofthecall.Thelanguageoftheinternalvoiceis
stated on the packaging!
LED Display
TheLEDdisplayonthebaseindicateshowmany
messagesyouhavereceived.Whentherearenew
messages,the2x7segmentLEDdisplayonthebase
willblinkandindicatetheamountofnewmessages.If
theansweringmachineisswitchedoff,theLEDdisplay
doesnotlightup."FL"willbeshownonthedisplaywhen
the internal memory is full and no new messages can be
recorded.
Outgoing Messages
Two outgoing messages of 2 minutes can be recorded
