Allgemein
Der Rack3 ist ein speziell für ORTLIEB Gepäcktaschen mit Hakensystem sowie QL3/3.1 System entwi-
ckelter Gepäckträger, er kann aber auch mit den meisten gängigen Packtaschen von anderen Herstellern
verwendet werden. Zudem ist der Rack3 Gepäckträger mit allen MIK-Systemtaschen kompatibel.
Maximale Belastung
+ des montierten Gepäckträgers beträgt 30 kg
+ der drei QL3/3.1 Befestigungselemente (links & rechts) beträgt jeweils 9 kg
Trotz der hohen Belastbarkeit ist der Gepäckträger nicht für den Transport von Kindern geeignet und zu-
gelassen!
Für die Nutzung von ORTLIEB Gepäcktaschen mit Hakensystem, empfehlen wir die Demontage der QL3/3.1
Befestigungselemente (Bild 1). Anschließend versehen Sie bitte die Schraublöcher mit den beiliegenden
Kunststoffstopfen (Bild 2).
Bitte lassen Sie Ihren erworbenen Rack3 Gepäckträger vorzugsweise von einem Fachbetrieb (Fahrradhänd-
ler/-Werkstatt) montieren.
Grundsätzlich gelten die folgenden Montagehinweise.
+ Vor der Montage Ihres Rack3 Gepäckträgers vergewissern Sie sich bitte, dass an Ihrem Fahrrad die ge-
eigneten Befestigungspunkte zur Montage vorhanden sind. Vergewissern Sie sich bitte auch, dass die
Festigkeitsangaben Ihres Fahrrades die Montage eines Gepäckträgers zulassen und mit den Festigkeits-
angaben des Gepäckträgers kompatibel sind.
+ Dieser Gepäckträger ist für die Montage am Fahrrad-Hinterbau bestimmt. Dafür sind am Fahrrad Montage-
gewinde M5 an den Ausfallenden und den Hinterbaustreben notwendig. Bei einigen Fahrrädern sind dafür
M6-Gewinde vorhanden. Hierfür benötigen Sie Innensechskanntschrauben M6x10, die nicht zum Liefer-
umfang gehören.
+ Für die Montage dürften nur Original-Montageteile verwendet werden, sonst erlischt jeder Ersatz- sowie
Haftungsanspruch!
+ Eine bauliche Veränderung des Gepäckträgers ist herstellerseitig unzulässig. Sollten Sie bauliche Ver-
änderungen am Gepäckträger vornehmen, gefährden Sie u.U. Ihre eigene und die Sicherheit anderer
Verkehrsteilnehmer. Aus diesem Grund lehnen wir jede Haftung für Schäden ab, die durch die bauliche
Veränderung der von uns hergestellten Produkte entstanden sind.
+ Wenn Sie Fragen oder Probleme haben, wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren Fachhändler.
Bitte überprüfen Sie vor der Fahrt
+ Die Funktionsfähigkeit Ihres Fahrrades sowie den Rack3 Gepäckträger und dessen Sitz, sowie die dazu-
gehörigen Befestigungsmechanismen (Schrauben, Muttern etc.).
+ Beachten Sie das veränderte Fahrverhalten durch das Gepäck. Achten Sie stets auf eine gleichmäßige
Gewichtsverteilung am Fahrrad. Bitte sichern Sie ihr Gepäck ausreichend und überschreiten sie niemals
das für das Fahrrad sowie den Gepäckträger vorgegebene Gesamtgewicht.
+ Gepäckstücke (Gepäcktaschen) sind nach Angaben des Herstellers auf dem Gepäckträger zu befestigen.
Achten Sie darauf, dass keine losen Gurte insbesondere Trageriemen von Gepäckstücken vorhanden sind,
die sich im Laufrad verfangen könnten.
+ Achten Sie darauf, dass Gepäckstücke so auf dem Gepäckträger befestigt sind, dass alle Reektoren und
Rückleuchten / Frontscheinwerfer für andere Verkehrsteilnehmer gut erkennbar sind.
+ Ziehen Sie nach den ersten 50 km und in regelmäßigen Abständen die Schrauben fest.
+ Bitte entfernen Sie aus Sicherheitsgründen alle Komponenten wie z.B. Körbe oder Taschen unbedingt vor
dem Transport des Rades auf einem PKW (oder anderen Transportfahrzeugen).

General considerations
While the Rack3 bike rack was specially developed for ORTLIEB panniers and bike bags with ORTLIEB
attachment systems (including the QL3/3.1 system), it can also be used with most commercially available
panniers and bike bags. Furthermore the rack is also compatible with MIK-System bags.
Maximum loads:
+ Mounted bike rack: 30 kg
+ The three QL3/3.1 attachment elements (right & left): 9 kg
Despite its outstanding strength and stability, the bike rack is not suitable or homologated for the transport
of children!
If you plan to use ORTLIEB bike bags without the QL3/3.1 attachment system, we recommend that you
remove the QL3/3.1 attachment elements (Picture 1) and use the provided plastic stoppers to plug the
screw holes (Picture 2).
In the interest of safety and proper function, we encourage you to have a professional bike mechanic mount
your new Rack3 to your bike.
Things to bear in mind before attempting to mount your bike rack:
+ Before attempting to mount your Rack3, please make sure that your bicycle is outtted with the appro-
priate mounting features. Please also make sure that your bicycle’s strength specications will permit the
mounting of a bike rack and are compatible with the strength specications of the bike rack.
+ The Rack3 was designed to be mounted to the rear of bicycles outtted with M5 threaded eyelets on their
dropouts and seat stays. If your bicycle has eyelets with M6 threads, you will have to purchase appropria-
te M6x10 hex bolts, as these are not included in the delivery scope.
+ Make sure to use original hardware when mounting the Rack3 to your bicycle. Using inappropriate hard-
ware will make any liability claims null and void!
+ As a matter of policy, ORTLIEB refuses to authorize any structural modications to the bike rack. If you
undertake to modify the design or structure of the bike rack, you may introduce a risk to your own safety
or that of others. For this reason, we cannot accept any liability for any damage or injury that arises in
connection with a modication of the design or structure of the products we manufacture.
+ Please contact your bike store representative if you have any problems or questions.
Please check your bike rack for proper stability and function before riding your bicycle!
+ Make sure your bicycle is in good working order and inspect your Rack3 for proper functioning and proper
attachment, including all attachment hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.).
+ Bear in mind that a loaded bike rack will alter the handling and performance of your bike. Make sure that
any additional weight is always properly distributed on your bike. Always secure your luggage properly and
never exceed the maximum weight limits for your bicycle and your bike rack.
+ All bike bags and other luggage are to be attached to your bike rack in accordance with the relevant ma-
nufacturer specications. Make sure to secure any loose or dangling straps on your bike bags or luggage
so that that they cannot get caught in your spokes or chain.
+ Make sure to attach all bike bags and luggage to your bike rack in a manner that ensures that your bike
reectors and lights remain unobstructed.
+ Check your bike rack’s attachment bolts for proper tightness after the rst 50 km and at regular intervals
thereafter.
+ For reasons of safety, please make sure to remove all accessories from your bike rack (e.g. bags, bas-
kets, etc.) before attempting to transport your bicycle on a motor vehicle or other means of conveyance.
