Thank you for choosing the BFR Dragonfly Large Arbor Fly
Reel.
The Dragonfly Large Arbor is built with a new die-cast aluminium
spool and frame around our famous offset drag system to give you the
stopping power you need for big fish, combined with a lighter weight
for optimum balance on your fly rod.The ultra large arbor holds more
backing and gets big fish on the reel faster.
Features include:
• Ultra large arbor performance.
• Die-cast aluminium spool and frame.
• Baked enamel finish for long term durability.
• Easy conversion from LH to RH retrieve.
Spool Removal - The spool release is located in the middle of the
spool.To remove the spool, press the spool release lever while simulta-
neously lifting the spool out of the body.
Adjustable Drag – Turn the drag knob clockwise to increase drag
pressure and anti-clockwise to decrease.
Silent Operation – Line-out click can be silenced as follows:
1. Remove the retaining screws and cover plate.
2. Push the pawl backwards so it disengages from the center gear.
3. Replace the cover plate and screws.
Left-Hand to Right-Hand Conversion – All reels leave the factory
set up for left-hand wind.The direction of retrieve can be changed as
follows:
1. Remove the screws and cover plate.
2. Slide the center gear off the spindle, flip it over, and replace.
Arrows on the gear indicate the line-in direction.
3. Replace the cover plate and screws.
Cleaning and Maintenance – Your Dragonfly LA reel was prop-
erly lubricated before it was shipped to you. It should be cleaned and
lubricated after contact with dirt or sand.Your reel should receive a
routine cleaning and maintenance at least twice a year. Lightly lubricate
all moving components – handle, center spindle, and gear mechanism.
Check screws for proper tightness. Do not put reel away wet. For
extended storage, remove line and backing and loosen drag.
Please Note:The Dragonfly LA is not recommended for use in salt or
brackish water.

Original User Warranty
BFR reels carry a conditional warranty for the original user.Within
five years of the original purchase, defects in workmanship or materials
will be repaired or replaced at Orvis’ discretion.This warranty does not
cover damage caused by negligence, lack of maintenance, or normal
wear and tear. For repair or replacement, reasonable parts and postage
charges may apply. Outside the UK, warranty claims should be directed
through your local BFR retailer or BFR distributor. In the UK, war-
