Vortex V02fly reels features include:

DRAG OPERATION
Vortex V02reelsfeatureauniqueexternalradiusdragsystemtoensure
themostsurfaceareainitsclass.
Toadjustthedrag,turntheknobclockwisetoincreaseresistance,
andcounterclockwisetodecreaseit.Theminimumdragsettingshould
neverbelessthanthepressurerequiredtopreventover-runningof
thelineonfastruns.Additionaldragmaybeappliedbypalmingthe
spoolrimwithyourfingersorpalm.
SPOOL REMOVAL
*Note:SpoolsfororiginalVortexreelsARENOTcompatiblewith
V02reels.
Thespoolreleaseswiththeturningofthescrewinthemiddleofthe
reel.(figure1).Toremove,useacoinorappropriately-sizedscrewdriver
androtatecounterclockwise.Thescrewwillremaininthespoolhousing
evenwhenfullyunthreaded.Liftthespooloutofthereelbody.
RETRIEVAL CONVERSION
Vortex V02reelshavethedragfactoryinstalledforleft-handwind.
Tochangeyourreeltoleft-handwind,removethespoolasabove.
Liftthecorkcompositedragsurfacedisk(figure2)offthecentrespindle.
Youwillseetwodragengagepawls,oneontopandoneonbottom
(figure3).Movethepawlfrom“L”to“R”onbothasindicatedonthe
pawlhousing.Returnthecorkcompositedragsurfacediskbackonto
thespindle.
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
Your new Vortex V02reelhasbeenproperlylubricatedpriortoship-
ping.However,itshouldbecleanedandlubricatedafterextensiveuse
oraftercontactwithdirt,sand,orsaltwater.Yourreelshouldreceiverou-
tinecleaningandmaintenanceatleasttwiceeachyear.Lightlylubricate
allmovingcomponents—handle,centrespindle,andgearshaftwithall-
purposegrease,availableintackleshops.Afterlubrication,checkscrews
forpropertightness.Donotputthereelawaywet,orintoawetreelcase
ortacklebox.
Followinguseinsaltwater,thereelshouldberinsedinfreshwaterand
allparts,exceptdragsurfaces,lightlyoiled.Thebodyandspoolshouldbe
wipedwithalightlyoiledcloth.
Forextendedstorage,removebothlineandbackingandloosen
thedrag.
