TheOticonCROS transmittercoupled with a compatible Oticonhearingaid is a
solutionforpeople with single-sided deafness (SSD).
ACROSfitting is appropriatewhen hearing on the betterear is normal, whereasa
BiCROSfitting is appropriatewhen hearing on the betterear is impairedandhearing
lossmustbecompensatedfor.

1. Placethe transmitterandreceivinghearingaidwithin20–30cm (8–12 inches) of
eachotheron a table or on the client’s ears.
2. Family/Selection step:
Detect thehearingaidonthebetterear. If the hearing aid familyand/or style
supportsaCROSfitting, the CROStransmitter will appearforselection in the
Stylelistfortheotherear.
TheCROStransmitterexistsas a miniRITE T and miniRITE R style.

SelectCROStransmitterfor the non-hearingaidear. The CROStransmitter and
receivinghearing aid will pair onceyouproceed withthefittingsession.
Please Note: The CROStransmitterisnot detectedorconnectedtothe software,
butitisactivelystreamingthroughout the fitting. Makesure bothdeviceshave
freshbatteries (orarefully charged) and areturned on.
4. Fitting step:
Thepatientcannowhear streamedsoundfromthe CROS transmitterin the
receivinghearing aid.
Checkactive streamingbyrunningyourfingeralongthetransmittermicrophone
andlistenfor themicrophoneactivity in the receivinghearing aid.
5. Fitting step:
Gotothe CROS/BiCROStabintheleft taskpane toselect a mode: BiCROS, CROS,or
NoCROS/BiCROS.
Theselectionofmode controls whichmicrophonesare in use. Itispossibleto
createseveral programsin the hearing aid, eachwithitsown mode.

6. Fitting step, CROS mode:
Askyourpatientto listentothe sound comingfromthe right
andleftsides to determine theappropriatetransmissionlevel. In CROSmode,
thehearingaidmicrophoneis offbydefault.
InFine-tuning,chooseanappropriateadaptationstep(1,2 or 3) and adjust the
overall gain ofthe transmittedsignalasneeded.

7. Fitting step, BiCROS mode:
Itispossibletoadjust the CROSinputlevelor balance ofsound coming fromthe
CROStransmitter versusthe receivinghearing aid where themicrophoneis on
by default.
Thebalancetrimmer adjusts the CROStransmitter input levelin2 dB steps.
Asadefault,itisset to0,meaningequal sound from the transmitter and receiver,
respectively, entersthe ear canal.
Thereceiverinput level is fixedbut can be adjustedintheoverallgaininthe
Fine-tuningtab.

8. End Fitting step:
Itisnotpossible toconfigurebuttons and indicatorsfortheCROStransmitter,
butundertheOperatePush-button tab,it is possible toseehowbuttons are

Beawarethatbeeps areconfiguredto be High Frequencyfortransmitter alerts,
whereasreceiving hearingaidalertsareMedium Frequencybydefault.
Ifnochangestobeeps aremadebythehearingcareprofessional,beeps
willsounddifferentfrom thetransmitter versusreceivertohelp the patient
distinguishbetweenthetwo moreeasily.
9. Save and Exit.
Genie 2 features without CROS transmission
WhenperformingFeedbackAnalyzer,In-situ AudiometryandTechnical
Measurements,the CROStransmission is notavailableto ensurethat the
transmissiondoes not interfere with themeasurements.
CROStransmission continuesafter exitingthesefunctionsinGenie 2.
Oticon CROS ttings and Real Ear Measurements (REM)
To objectivelyverifyhowthe CROS transmitter is functioningandovercoming
theheadshadoweffect,it is possible torunaREM measurementwithinthe
REMAutoFittool inGenie2withthetransmitteractively streaming.
NospecificREMAutoFit CROSprotocol exists,butageneral REM verification
guideisavailablefrom Oticon.
IfanactivetransmitterisnotdesiredduringREM,muteorshut downthe
CROSdevice.

Step 1: Getting started
Open NOAH/Genie 2 and select the patient’smostrecent session.
1. Clickthe RemoteCare box in lower left corner of screen.
2. Enter your RemoteCare credentials and click “SIGNIN”
3. Enter patient email address and click “CONTINUE”
4. Oncethe patient is in the virtual waiting room, click ‘START AN
APPOINTMENT’when you are ready.
Note: It is only possible to start a session when the patient is already
present/has started an appointment.

Step 2: Conduct the session
1. Click‘CONNECT’ to detectand connect to the patient’shearing
aid(s).The status indicators turn green when the hearing aid(s)are
connected. Please note the connection processmaytake up to several
minutes. If you get a communication error,go tothe ‘FAMILY’ or
‘SELECTION’ screenand connect the hearing aid(s).
Onceconnected, proceed to ‘FITTING’.
The connection status of the hearing aids is indicated in twoplaces:

Best practices if using In-situ Audiometry with RemoteCare
Important Note: Please note that In-situAudiometry whether it is
conducted in the office or via RemoteCarecannot be used fordiagnostic
purposes. While itcannot replace in-person audiometry,it will be beneficial
in cases where the patient cannot come into the office but needs tohave
personalized adjustments made.
2. Program thepatient’s hearingaids asyou would do normally,
ifneeded.
3. Click ‘UPLOAD’ to upload the newsettings to thehearing aids.
4. Once alldesired changes have beenmade, click ‘DISCONNECT’.
The hearing aids will be disconnected from Genie2 and will
restart.Note: You can also disconnect the hearing aids from the
‘END FITTING’ screen.
5. Go to the ‘ENDFITTING’ screen and click ‘SAVE AND EXIT’ to save
and end the session with the patient.

3. Your device will searchfor thehearingaids,oncediscoveredthe hearing aids
willappearonthescreen.
4. Choose'Pair' foreach hearing aid.

2. Turn both hearing aids OFF and back ON.

3. The hearing aids will now be ready forfirsttime

4. Turn ON ConnectClip. Pressandholdmulti-button

5. ConnectClip will now search for the hearing aids.

The ConnectClip will be in pairing mode for about 3 minutes.
3. Enable pairing on mobile phone.

4. Enter a pin code. Ifthephonerequestsapincodeenter
0000(fourzeros).
5. Pairing complete. Pairingcompletewithmobilephoneisindicated
