to the new owner who must then be instructed in the recommended regulations referred to herein.

Travelling with implement in tow
The attached implement influences the travelling
characteristics of the towing vehicle.
• Danger of tipping exists when working on slopes.
• The driving must be adapted to the corresponding
terrain and ground conditions.
• The towing vehicle is to
be sufficiently equiped
with weights at thefront
or at the rear in order to
guarantee the steering
and braking capacity (a
minimum of 20% of the
vehicle'stareweight on
the front axle).
• Transporting people on the implement is not
permitted.
Coupling and uncoupling the implement
• Danger of injury exists when coupling the implement
to the tractor!
• When coupling, do not stand between tractor and
implement while tractor is reversing !
• No-one must enter the area between tractor and
implement unless both vehicles have been secured
against rolling with wheel chocks !
• Drive shaft connection or disconnection is only to
be undertaken when the motor has stopped.

• The trailer‘s load limits (permitted axle load, support
load, total weight) maynot be exceeded.The relevant
details are located on the right side of the trailer.

General safety
hints for the use
of this implement!
Before starting work
a. Before commencing work, the operator must be aware
of all operating devices and functions.The learning
of these is too late after having already commenced
operation!
b. Before commencing any work check that implement
is safe for road travel and operation.
c. The danger of being crushed or cut exists in the Pick-
up, cutting unit, tailgate and upper extension areas.
d. Before driving the vehicle, the driver must ensure that
nobody will be endangered and that no obstructions
are present. If the tractor driver does not have a clear
view of the roadway immediately behind the implement,
he must be guided when reversing.
e. Observe the safety information fixed to implement.
An explanation of what the individual graphic warning
symbols mean can be found on page 5.
f. Observe also the tips in the respective chapters and
in the supplement to this operating manual.
Checking before operation
The following tips should make preparing the implement
for operation easier. Detailled information for individual
points can be found in the respective chapters in this
operating manual.
1. Check that all safety equipment (covers, casings, etc.)
is in good condition and fixed in the proper positions
of protection on the implement
2. Grease and oil the implement according to the
lubrication chart. Check the gearing for tightness and
the oil level.
3. Check that tyres have the correct air pressure.
4. Check that wheel nuts are sitting firmly.
5. Ensure the correct p.t.o.-r.p.m.
6. Make the electrical connections to the tractor and
check that they are correct. Take note of the tips in
the operating manual!
7. Carry out the following adaptions:
• Drawbar height
• Cardan shaft length
8. Secure the implement only with the equipment
provided.
9. Cut drive shaft tocorrect length and checkthat overload
safeguard is functioning (see Supplement)
10. Check the electronic unit function.
11. Connect hydraulic lines to tractor.
• Check hydraulic hoses for damage and wear.
• Ensure the correct connection.
12. All swivelling parts must be secured against dangerous
position changes.
13. Check parking brake and service brake functions.

TRACTOR REQUIREMENT
Tractor
The following tractor requirements must be met for operation of this machine:
- Tractor power: 37 kW/50 bhp
- Attachment: lower link cat. II
- Connections: see table “Required hydraulics and power connections”
Ballast weights
Ballast weights
The tractor must be fitted with sufficient ballast weights at the front to
ensure steering and braking ability.
At least 20% of the unloaded vehicle weight on the
front axle.
Lifting Unit (Three-point Linkage)
- The tractor’s lifting unit (three-point linkage) must be designed for
the load arising. (See technical data)
- The lifting rods must be adjusted to the same length using the
corresponding adjusting device (4).
(See tractor manufacturer’s operating instructions)
- Select the rear position if the lifting rods can be adjusted in various
positions on the lower link. This relieves the pressure on the tractor’s
hydraulic system.
- The limiting chains or stabilisers of the lower link (5) must be adjusted
so that there is no possibility of the attached implements moving
laterally. (Safety measures for transport journeys)

Machine attachment
Connecting the cardan shaft
- Turn motor off and remove ignition key
- Clean and grease machine’s attachment profile and tractor’s p.t.o. shaft before attaching cardan shaft.
- Attach wide angle joint (4) to machine first. Then attach cardan shaft to tractor’s p.t.o. shaft
- To prevent protector cap on all shafts from turning, secure it with chain (5)
Attention!
Check the length of the PTO drive shaft
and adapt if necessary prior to starting up
for the first time.
Shortest possible operating position (L2):
1. Lifting gear right down
2. Steering is completely turned to lock.
(See adjacent diagram)

Attach swather:
- Connect coupling jack to lower link of tractor
- Secure coupling bolts (1) properly
- Bring the chassis frame into a horizontal position or
adjust the height of the lower link (X) to 70 cm.

- Turn p.t.o. off before connecting
- Put lever (ST) on the control unit into thefloating position

- Take care that snap-lock couplers are clean.
- Only connect hydraulic system to the tractor when
stopcock is closed (position A).

Adjusting the linkage at the transport securing device
Adjust the linkage of the transport securing device correctly before the first putting into operation. Check that the rotor
arms can be lifted hydraulically in locked status.
1. Lift unit to transport position
2. Control device in floating position
3. Loosen lower nut (1).
4. Screw upper nut (2) downwards until the rotor arm
lifts when you set the control device to "Lift".
5. Lock position with lower nut (1)
6. Place unit in headland position
7. Set control device to "Lift".
If the rotors now move in transport position, without
the rope being released by pulling beforehand,
then turn the bolt (3) downwards until movement
in transport position is no longer possible.

Requirement for switching to transport
position:
- Retract extendable rotor arms fully.
- Minimise rake height so as not to exceed the max.
transport width of 3 m.
1. Turn in outer sensor wheels (optional)
Both sensor wheels must be pivoted to the innermost
position for the transport position.
- Pull cable (1).
- Turn sensor wheel inwards and secure on innermost
catch (2).
2. Reduce transport dimensions
(Only necessary for Top 972 C s-line version)
2.1 Hoop guard
Hoop guards (3) must be pivoted towards the back to
reduce the overall height of the rotary swather.
- Unlatch hoop guard (3) for each rotor with cable (4)
and pivot backwards until it has locked audibly into
position again.
- Retract extended additional hoops on front lighting
beam and secure!
2.2 Remove tine carriers
Tine carriers (5) may be removed to reduce the overall
height of the rotary swather.
- Remove 5 tine carriers (5) per rotor, place in holder on
frame and secure.
3. Raising the rotors
- Raise the rotors into the field transport position using
the dual-action control device.
- Retract extendable rotor arms fully.
- Pull cable (6) and raise rotors completely using dual-
action control device.
- Release cable.
- Check proper latching of transport lock (7).

Driving on Public Roads
Attention!
- Comply with the regulations issued by your country’s legislative authority.
- Travelling on public roads is only permitted as described in the section “Transport Position”.
- Protective devices must be attached and in a proper condition.
- Pivotable parts must be brought into the correct position prior to starting travel and must be secured
against changes in position which could present a hazard.
- Check that the lighting functions prior to starting travel.
- Push protective strips onto the spring tines facing outwards.
Attention!
Always close shut-
off valves during
road transport.

to other road
users due to
unintentional
operation of the
hydraulic control
system.

Frame Chassis
The frame chassis is steerable. The rotatable coupling jack
transfers the steering movement to the frame chassis by
means of a steering rod.
With the best possible basic setting, the frame chassis
follows the tractor in alignment when travelling straight
ahead. (see diagram)
The length of the steering rod may be adjusted if it is
discovered that the frame does not follow in alignment.
The adjusting unit is located on the coupling jack.

Features of the Terminal
Electrical Connection
The terminal’s electricity is supplied via a plug in accordance with DIN 9680 from the tractor’s 12 V on-board electrical
system. These 3-pin plugs are also used in a 2-pin version as only the two main connections (+12 V, earth) are required.
Caution!
Plugs and sockets of a different design are not permissible as functional safety is not guaranteed.

Function
The hitched unit is operated via a dual-action control device at the tractor, whereby the individual functions can be
preselected at the Select Control terminal. The preselected functions are displayed on the LDC screen of the terminal.
Commissioning
1. Positioning
Position the Select Control terminal so that it is easily
visible in the tractor cab. (There is a magnet on the rear
for attaching the terminal.)
2. Connection
Connect plug (1) to the 12V power supply of the tractor.
Connectplug(2)to 7-pin connection at job computer ofunit.
3. Switching on and off
Press the “I/O” key to switch on the terminal.
Keep the “I/O” key depressed for 3 seconds to
switch off the terminal.
Upon switching on the terminal, the initial screen is shown.
The version numbersor the currect Select-ControlSoftware
(FO92) and the interfaces software (LIN-IO) can be seen
in the lower section of the start screen.

To preselect a function, press the appropriate key.
The preselected function will be displayed on the screen.
Functions
1. Pivoting rotor unit(s) between working and field transport position:
The key "Preselection left or right rotor unit" selects the rotor unit you wish to pivot.
The pivot procedure is performed by the control unit.

+ Both rotors are pivoted between the “field transport” and “working
position” position using the tractor’s control unit.
/ Theselected rotor is pivoted betweenthe “field transport” and“working
position” position using the tractor’s control unit.
(Press a preselection key twice in succession to select both rotor units )
2. Setting working width:
This key preselects the function "Adjust working width". The pivot procedure is performed by the control unit.

The working width of both rotors is adjusted using the tractor’s control
unit. This function is possible in the “field transport” and “working
position” position.

3. Adjusting rake height:
This key selects the function "Adjust rake height" This function is performed by the control unit.
Keys Display Note
+ The rake height of both rotors is adjusted using the tractor’s control unit.
/ The rake heightofthe selected rotor is adjusted usingthetractor’s controlunit.
(Press a preselection key twice in succession to select both rotor units )
4. Pivoting from field transport to road transport position.
This key selects the function "Pivot to road transport". This function is performed by the control unit.
Precondition for this function: Standstill of cardan shaft and field transport position of both rotor units!
Keys Display Note
Both rotors are pivoted between the “field transport” and “working
position” position using thetractor’s controlunit. The “field transport”
position is a requirement for this function.
The “working width” function is activated first if the minimum
working width has not been set in the “field transport” position.
If the sensors signal “minimum working width” then the switch is
made to the “road transport” function. The function is deactivated
automatically as soon as the “field transport” position is reached.
If the cardan shaft is moving and you press the "Road transport" key, the
warning to the right appears on the screen.
Wait until the cardan shaft has stopped moving before you pivot the unit to
road transport position.
Caution!
There is a danger

5. Swinging from the “Road transport" to the “Field transport” position:
Caution!
Thetransport locking devicecan be activatedseparately in the eventof a malfunction.
Once the key "Transport locking" is no longer depressed, the rotors in the display
appear empty until another function is selected. You can control only the transport
locking device with the control unit as long as the rotors in the display are empty.

1. 1. (1) Preselect key "Road transport",
2. 2. 2) Keep key "Transport locking" depressed and activate the
control unit of the tractor (lift) until the transport securing
device has unlocked.
3. 3. (3) Activate key "Road transport" and switch the control unit
of the tractor to "Lower" until the field transport position is
reached.
4. 4. (4) Once the field transport position has been reached, press
the "Road transport" key or the "Preselection left/right rotor
unit" key. Both rotor units have been preselected.
6. Data Menu
Keys Display Note
Press the key "Data menu" for a short time to get to the current
hour counter (Data 1).
Press the key "Data menu" for a long time to set the current
hour counter to 0.
The hour counter counts how long the cardan shaft has been
running.
Press the key "Data menu" once again for a short time to get
to the total hour counter (Data 2).
Press the key "Data menu" once again for a short time to get
to the working area.

7. System Menu
Keys Display Note
Press the key "IO" for a short time to get to the brightness
menu. Adjust the brightness of the display using the arrow keys.
Notre: When selecting a brightness of <30%, the key lighting
will be activated.
Press the key "IO" once again for a short time to get to the
contrast menu. Adjust the contrast of the display using the
arrow keys.
Press the key "IO" once again for a short time to get to the
sensor test display.
Press the key "IO" once again to get to the working area.

Switching from transport to working position
Attention!
Hydraulic lowering of the rotors must be
carried out in one continuous operation.
Undefined raising/lowering of individual
rotors may occur if occasional stops are
made.
1. Lowering of the rotors
- Raise rotors briefly using dual-action control device to
release transport lock.
- Pull cable (1) and lower rotors completely using dual-
action control device.
- Release cable (1).
2. Deactivate transport measures
(Only necessary for Top 972 C s-line version)
2.1 Attach tine carriers
Attach the tine carriers transported on the frame to the
rotors.
- Attach the rotors and secure in each case with the

2.2 Pivot hoop guard into position
- Unlatch hoop guard (3) for each rotor with cable (4) and
pivot forwards until it has locked audibly into position
again.
- Extend auxiliary hoop on front lighting beam for each
rotor and set according to working width.
3. Position outer sensor wheels (optional)
The outer sensor wheels may be set for the best possible
conditions of use according to the crop.
- Pull cable (5).
- Pivot sensor wheel into position, release cable and
allow sensor wheel to engage.
