POWER SUPPLY
Battery operation:
1) Open the battery cover at the back of the unit by sliding
it to the right as shown in Fig. 1.
2) Insert four ‘‘D’’ size (National UM-1 or equivalent) flash-
light batteries into the battery compartment. OBSERVE
CORRECT POLARITY (Fig. 2).
For easy battery removal, place the batteries over the
cloth band.
3) Replace the battery cover.
AC power operation:
1) Before playing this unit, ascertain the local AC voltage.
This unit is set to operate on 220~240V AC, therefore
please check the Voltage selector® (Fig. 3).
If your household voltage is 110~125V AC, set the
Voltage selector by turning it to 110~125V with screw-
driver.
However, Model RF-888JBS/LBS operates at 50 Hz, 220V
AC
only.
Therefore,
no
Voltage
selector®
is
equipped.
2) Connect the supplied AC power cord to the External
power jack on the back of the unit and to an AC power
outlet.
The
power
source
will
automatically
change
from
the
batteries to your household current.
Note:
Ifthe
AC
power
cord
plug
does
not
fit
the
AC
power
outlet,
use
the
plug
adaptor
furnished
with
the
unit
(Fig.
3).

Push this button for detaching the handle. For details,

Permit the unit to be tuned in any broadcast you want to
listen to.
@® Power on/off timer
Permits the unit to be automatically switched on or off
within the limits of about 120 minutes after the timer is
set.
* To switch on the unit:
Set the Power on/off switch® to the ON position. Turn
the Power on/off timer clockwise until the desired time,
after the lapse of which you want the unit to be auto-
matically switched on, appears in the center of the set
time indicator.
* To switch off the unit:
Set the Power on/off switch® to the OFF position. Turn
the Power on/off timer clockwise until the desired time,
after the lapse of which you want the unit to be auto-
matically switched off, appears in the center of the set
time indicator.
Notes: 1. Figures appearing in the set time indicator
express the time in minutes.
2. When turning the Power on/off timer@ to
set the automatic ‘‘switch-off’’ time, first go
beyond the target time by several minutes
and then return to the target time.

This is used only when listening to an FM or MW broad-
cast, and has nothing to do with the reception of SW
broadcasts.

* For reception of FM broadcasts:
Set
this

the

position
when
tuning
in
an
FM
station
in
ordinary
cases.
Keep
it
at
that
position
while
listening
to
the
FM
broadcast,
and
the
AFC
will
mini-
mize drift.
Set
this
switch
to
the
OFF
position
for
picking
up
an
FM
station
which
is
hard
to
get
because
its
transmitter
frequency
is
adjacent
to
that
of
another
station
trans-
mitting
much
stronger
FM
signals.
* For reception of MW signals:
Set

MW
signals
are
weak
due
to
a
long
distance
from
transmitting
antenna
or
to
other
receiving
conditions.

How to attach handle to the cabinet:
Insert

can
be
adjusted

detach

Pull
the
handle
while
pushing

the
hook
will
come
out
of
the
slot.

HELPFUL HINTS
* If the unit is not used for any length of time or the unit is
used only from an AC power source, remove the batteries
to prevent damage due to battery leakage.
x Do not subject the unit to a temperature of over 50°C
(120°F), as transistor characteristics may be adversely
affected by heat. If the unit is directly exposed to the sun
for a long time in a car with windows closed, perform-
ance may be adversely affected and the cabinet may
become disfigured.
*DO NOT USE A SOLUTION CONTAINING BENZOL,
PETROLEUM, ETC. to clean the cabinet. Wipe off dust and

Netzbetrieb:
1) Vor Gebrauch dieses Gerates ermitteln Sie bitte die
Ortliche Volt-Netzspannung. Der Steuerempfanger ist
fir 220~240V Netzspannung eingestelit. Uberpriifen Sie
deshalb den Netzspannungswahler@®! (Abb. 3)
Falls die Stromspannung an Ihrem Wohnort 110~125 Volt
betragt, muss der Netzspannungswahler mit einem
Schraubenzieher auf 110~125 Volt gedreht werden.
Jedoch kann das Modell RF-888JBS/LBS nur mit Wech-
selstrom (50Hz, 220V) betrieben werden. Aus diesem
Grunde ist es nicht mit einen Netzspannungswahler®
ausgerustet.
2) Das mitgelieferte Stromkabel an den AuBenstroman-
Stoffband

schluss auf der Geraterlickwand und an eine Licht-
steckdose anschliessen. Bei Netzbetrieb werden die ein-
gesetzten Batterien automatisch abgeschaltet.

Hinweis: 1. Die Ziffern des Zeiteinstellanzeigers
driicken die Zeit in Minuten aus.
2. Beim Ejnstellen der automatischen Aus-

Belassen Sie ihn in dieser Position beim UKW-Emp-
fang und das AFC wird Fremdeinfliisse verringern.
Beim Empfang von UKW-Stationen, deren Sendefre-
quenz in der Nachbarschaft von Stationen, die starkere
UKW Sendesignale ausstrahlen, liegen und deren
Empfang dadurch beeinfluBt wird, bringen Sie diesen
Schalter in die OFF (aus) Position.
* Fur MW-Empfang
Bringen Sie diesen Schalter in die DX Position beim
Empfang von MW-Sendesignalen, deren Empfang
schwach ist auf Grund weiter Entfernung von der
Senderantenne oder anderer Empfangsbedingungen.
Bringen
Sie
diesen

in
die
LOCAL
Position
beim Empfang von MW-Sendesignalen, deren Empfang
auBerordentlich stark ist oder wenn Fremdgerausche
besonders stark bemerkbar sind.

MIKROPHON MISCHUNG
* bei einer Radiotbertragung
Verbinden Sie das Mikrophon mit der Mikrophon-
Buchse@. Stimmen, aufgefangen durch das Mikrophon,
werden so mit der RadioUbertragung vermischt. Dadurch
haben Sie die Mdglichkeit ein Lied mit Radio-Musik-
begleitung zu singen. Der Lautstarke-Pegel der Radio
Musik und der Pegel der Stimme miissen gesondert ab-
gestimmt werden. Der erstere wird mit dem Lautstarke-
regler@, der letztere wird mit dem Mikrophon Mischungs-
regler@ abgestimmt.

AuBer der Verbindung eines Mikrophons mit der Mikro-
phon Buchse@, verbinden Sie das Gerat zusatzlich noch

Ténen vom Schallplattenspieler oder Tape Deck ver-
mischt. Der Lautstarke-Pegel der durch das Mikrophon

schungsregler@ abgestimmt. Der Lautstarke-Pegel der
Tone des Schallplattenspielers oder Tape Decks jedoch
wird mit dem Lautstarkeregler@ abgestimmt.
Uberspielen von Mischaufnahmen
Gemischte Téne kénnen auf Band aufgenommen werden,
indem Sie das Tonbandgerat mit der Ausgangsbuchse
fur Mischaufnahmen@® verbinden.
Der Lautstarke-Pegel der einzelnen Bestandteile, die
die gemischtenT6ne bilden, mussen gesondert abgestimmt
werden, also entweder mit dem Mikrophon Mischungs-
regler@ oder mit dem Lautstarkeregler@.

DER
ABNEHMBARE
TRAGEGRIFF
Wie man den Tragegriff am Gehause befestigt:
Fugen Sie die an beiden Enden des Tragegriffes vor-
handenen Haken in die an beiden Seiten des Gehauses
zu findenen Schlitze ein. Das Klicken zeigt an, daB die Haken
richtig gesichert sind. Die Lange des Griffes kann durch
eine Schnalle reguliert werden.

Wie man den Tragegriff vom Gehause losmacht:
Wahrend Sie die Tragegriffsicherungsknépfe@, die an
beiden Seiten des Gehauses vorhanden sind, drucken,
ziehen Sie am Griff bis die Haken aus den Schlitze kommen.
