ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
PARAGON® EZ REEL™ LANE STORAGE REEL (75190, 75191)
General Notes: Yo r Paragon® EZ Reel™ Lane Storage Reel has been shipped with some parts pre-assembled at o r
factory. Prior to beginning, please inspect all pieces and boxes to ens re that parts were not damaged in transit. If
damage is detected, notify yo r distrib tor/freight carrier immediately as a freight claim m st be filed within a certain
time frame from receipt of goods. Take a moment to skim thro gh the instr ctions and verify that all parts have been
received. It is recommended that all nuts and bolts be left hand tight ntil entire assembly is complete nless otherwise
noted. Two people are recommended for safe assembly.
1) Axle (Left Side) – Slide Captain’s Wheel (ref. 1A,1B) onto the axle (ref. 5) shaft (welded side of the h b towards the
center of the axle). Slide on the Minor chain g ard (ref. 17), Upper inner spacer (ref. 13) and the Large Sprocket (ref.
12). H b of the large sprocket faces towards center of axle as shown in Detail A. Align the holes in the sprocket, wheel
h b, and axle and attach sing (2) 5/16”-24 x 2 ¼” hex bolts (ref. 33) and (2) 5/16” split lockwashers (ref. 31) into the
axle ends. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CROSS THREAD THE BOLTS. Bolts sho ld thread easily and be installed by hand (apply
antiseize to the bolt threads).
2) Axle (Right Side) – Slide Captain’s Wheel (ref. 1A,1B) onto the axle (ref. 5) shaft (welded side of the h b towards the
center of the axle). Align the holes on the wheel h b and axle and attach sing (2) 5/16”-24 x 1 ½” hex bolts (ref. 34)
and (2) 5/16” split lockwashers (ref. 31) into the axle ends. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CROSS THREAD THE BOLTS. Bolts
sho ld thread easily and installed by hand (apply antiseize to the bolt threads). Set assembly aside and move onto
step 3.

3) Assemble the side “A” frames (ref. 2) with the braces, casters, and lead screw s pports. Note: the “A” frame 4-hole
base plates sho ld be pointed away from the center of the assembly. NOTE (See Detail B): Left side s pport has as post
with an 11/16” offset from the edge of the 4-hole plate. The post on the right side s pport is welded to edge of the 4-
hole plate.
a) Front Left Location – Install caster (ref. 6) and Left lead screw s pport (ref. 10) to the side “A” frame, end
brace (ref. 4) and side brace (ref. 3) in the following order: First, install (1) 5/16”-18 x 1” ro nd head bolt (ref. 28)
with stop n t (ref. 32). Second, install (1) 5/16”-18 x 2 ½” ro nd head bolt (ref. 30) thro gh end brace and
sec re with stop n t. Lastly, install (2) 5/16”-18 x 2 ½” ro nd head bolts thro gh side brace and sec re with
stop n ts.

b) Front Right Location – Install caster (ref. 6) and Right lead screw s pport (ref. 11) to the side “A” frame, end
brace (ref. 4) and side brace (ref. 3) in the following order: First, install (1) 5/16”-18 x 1” ro nd head bolt (ref. 28)
with stop n t (ref. 32). Second, install (1) 5/16”-18 x 2 ½” ro nd head bolt (ref. 30) thro gh end brace and
sec re with stop n t. Lastly, install (2) 5/16”-18 x 2 ½” ro nd head bolts thro gh side brace and sec re with
stop n ts.
c) Rear Locations – Install caster (ref. 6) to the side “A” frame, end brace (ref. 4) and side brace (ref. 3) in the
following order: First, install (1) 5/16”-18 x ¾” ro nd head bolt (ref. 27) with stop n t (ref. 32). Second, install
(1) 5/16”-18 x 2 ¼” ro nd head bolt (ref. 29) thro gh end brace and sec re with stop n t. Lastly, install (2)
5/16”-18 x 2 ¼” ro nd head bolts thro gh side brace and sec re with stop n ts. Keep hand tightened ntil step
14 is complete
4) On the captain’s wheel assembly from Step 2, drape the chain (ref. 15) over the large sprocket and engage the chain
with the teeth on the sprocket. Then, slide the Large o ter spacer (ref. 14) onto the axle shaft with the small h b facing
towards the center of the axle. Refer to Fig re 2 on previo s page.
5) Insert each axle end of the captain’s wheel assembly from Step 2 into the tops of the Side “A” Frames (ref. 2) as
shown in Fig re 2. Place an axle stop b shing (ref. 8) on each end of the axle and lock in place sing (1) 5/16”-18 x 2 ¼”
hex bolt (ref. 41) and (1) 5/16” elastic stop n t (ref. 42) on each side.
6) Install the G ide Body (ref. 20) onto the Lead Screw assembly (ref. 21). Remove the fo r (4) flat head bolts and the
cover plate on the side labeled “TOP”, along with the internal lead screw rider. Slide the lead screw assembly thro gh
the g ide body and rider carrier (with sprocket side on the left, the side labeled “TOP” sho ld be facing pward). Engage
the previo s removed lead screw rider with the thread on the lead screw assembly and sec re in place with the
previo sly removed flat head bolts and cover plate.

7) Attach (1) pillow block (ref. 18) to the left side lead screw s pport (ref. 10 in Fig re 2) with (2) 1/4”-20 x 1 ¾” hex bolts
(ref. 38) and (2) ¼” lockwashers (ref. 39).
8) Remove the axle stop b shing (ref. 8 in Fig. 2) on the left side of the assembly to allow some movement for the axle
spindle in the side “A” frame b shing. Slide the c to t of the major chain g ard (ref. 16) over the main axle spindle
between the side “A” frame and the minor chain g ard (already installed). Rest the lower end of the major chain g ard
on the left side pillow block (ref. 18) for now.
9) Engage the small sprocket with the #35 chain. Place the small g ard spacer (ref. 19) onto the sprocket end of the lead
screw assembly and insert the lead screw end into the previo sly installed left side pillow block (ref. 18). NOTE: Make
s re the minor chain g ard (ref. 17) is resting above the lead screw before inserting the assembly into the pillow block.
10) Engage the lower c to t of the g ide body (ref. 20) onto the front sq are side brace (ref. 3) - See Detail C. Insert the
other end of the lead screw assembly into the remaining pillow block (ref. 18) and attach it to the right side lead screw
s pport (ref. 11 on Fig. 2) with (2) 1/4”-20 x 1 ¾” hex bolts (ref. 38) and (2) ¼” lockwashers (ref. 39).

11) Clip on (6) panel clips (ref. 37) to the (6) holes on the perimeter of the minor chain g ard (ref. 17). Engage the minor
chain g ard on the inside of the major chain g ard as shown on Detail F.
12) Affix the major chain g ard to the Large o ter spacer (ref. 14 on Fig. 2) with (2) #10-24 x 3/8” screws (ref. 35). Line
p the holes on the perimeter and mo nt the two g ards to each other sing (6) #10-24 x 1/2” screws (ref. 36) into the
panel clips. Finally, attach the lower end of the major chain g ard to the small o ter spacer (from step 8) with (1) #10-
24 x 3/8” screw (ref. 35). See Detail D, E, and F.
13) Re-install the axle stop b shing that was temporarily removed in step 8 to sec re the axle to the side “A” frame.

14) Place the lead screw g ard (ref. 22) on top of the two pillow blocks and sec re it sing (4) ¼”-20 x ¾” thread c tting
screws (ref. 40). The notch in the lead screw g ard will provide clearance for the chain g ard assembly. Tighten all bolts
pon completion of this step.
15) Slide the protective side panel (ref. 23A, 23B) onto each side of the axle with the logos facing o tward. A radial slit
has been provided to ease in installation of the side panel onto the main axle of the lane reel. Install the protective edge
trim (ref. 24) on each side panel. Start/end the edge trim away from the radial slit to create a f lly encaps lated side
panel. Attach the side panels to the captain’s wheels’ spokes with the provided cable ties (ref. 25). Twelve (12) cable
ties are req ired per panel. Trim the excess cable tie length after installation as req ired.
16) Install provided loading arrow decals (ref. 26A, 26B) to the o tside of each panel (as shown). In order to coil the lane
line onto the reel, rotate the captain’s wheel ntil the g ide body is positioned on the side opposite the reeling
mechanism. Ro te the lane line thro gh the g ide body and nder the main axle. Hook the end to the captain’s wheel
spoke. The captain’s wheel m st be rotating TOWARDS THE POOL when loading the lane storage reel. NOTE: Loading in
the opposite direction will ca se improper coiling and possible entanglement. Refer to Detail G for clarification.
