CAUTION: TO REDUCE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK,
INSTALL WITH MOTOR AND ALL ELECTRICAL
COMPONENTS ABOVE THE TOP GRADE LEVEL
OF THE SUMP. THIS PUMP IS NOT SUBMERSIBLE.
CONNECT ONLY TO A PROPERLY GROUNDED
GROUNDING-TYPE RECEPTACLE. READ ALL
INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING PUMP.
WARNING: THIS PUMP HAS NOT BEEN
INVESTIGATED FOR USE IN SWIMMING POOL
AREAS. FOR INDOOR USE ONLY.
1. Before installing or servicing your pump, BE
CERTAIN pump power source is disconnected.
2. CALL AN ELECTRICIAN WHEN IN DOUBT. All
wiring should be performed by a qualified electrician.
Pump should be connected to a separate 15 amp
circuit breaker or 15 amp fuse block. Plugging into
existing outlet may cause low voltage at motor,
causing blown fuses, tripping of motor overload, or
burned-out motor.
3. Pump is equipped with a grounding conductor
and a grounding-type attachment plug. Do NOT
connect pump to a power supply until permanently
grounded. For maximum safety, ground pump to
a circuit equipped with a ground fault interrupter
device.
4. Know the pump application, limitations, and
potential hazards. WARNING: DO NOT USE
TO PUMP FLAMMABLE OR EXPLOSIVE
FLUIDS SUCH AS GASOLINE, FUEL OIL,
KEROSENE, ETC. DO NOT USE IN EXPLOSIVE
ATMOSPHERES. This Myers pump was not
designed for and CANNOT be installed in
locations classified as hazardous in the National
Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. PUMP SHOULD
BE USED ONLY WITH LIQUIDS COMPATIBLE
WITH PUMP COMPONENT MATERIALS. FAILURE
TO FOLLOW THIS WARNING CAN RESULT
IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY
DAMAGE.
WARNING: IF YOUR BASEMENT HAS WATER
OR MOISTURE ON THE FLOOR, DO NOT
WALK ON WET AREA UNTIL ALL POWER HAS
BEEN TURNED OFF. IF SHUT-OFF BOX IS IN
BASEMENT, CALL THE ELECTRIC COMPANY
TO SHUT OFF SERVICE TO THE HOUSE, OR
CALL YOUR LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR
INSTRUCTIONS. THE PUMP MAY HAVE FAILED;
REMOVE PUMP AND REPAIR OR REPLACE.

PEDESTAL SUMP PUMP INSTALLATION
Be certain sump basin is clean and all power to
pump is shut off. If pump fails to operate properly
after installation, refer to troubleshooting checklist or
contact Myers.
General materials needed:
• One can PVC cement (read instructions carefully)
• One 1-1/4" male PVC adapter
• Rigid PVC pipe and couplings
• One CV-150 check valve used with PVC pipe
Tools needed for all pump installations:
• Pipe wrench
• Slot screwdriver
• 24-tooth hacksaw
• Knife or round file
INSTALLATION
1. Thread 1-1/4" male PVC adapter into pump
discharge opening. NOTE: DO NOT use thread
compound or overtighten adapter or discharge
pipe.
2. Cement desired length of 1-1/4" PVC pipe to
adapter. Clamp check valve CV-150 to open end of
PVC pipe with water flow arrow pointing away from
pump base.
3. Lower pump into basin. Clamp needed PVC
discharge pipe and fittings to open end of check
valve CV-150.
4. Plug in pump and fill sump basin with water. Pump
should turn on at 10" to 12" water level; adjust
stop washers accordingly. Perform several ON-OFF
cycles to assure satisfactory operation.
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE
General Information: Neither the pump nor the pump
motor ever requires oiling. However, the pump should
be checked for proper operation every two weeks. Fill
the sump pit with water and watch operation of pump,
On and Off levels, etc. If there are any irregularities in
pump operation, power should be disconnected, pump
should be removed from pit, examined, and repaired by
a qualified service person or electrician.
Cleaning the Pump: A decrease in output or noise
generally means the pump inlet is clogged. Clean any
debris from the pump inlet slots. Also inspect and turn
the impeller to verify that debris has not jammed it.
Connect the power cord and test operation. If pumping
is still not satisfactory, check for blockage in the
discharge pipeline and inspect the check valve.
