Power
l Thisvideo recorderisusedon 110V-240VACand connected tothe ground.Confirm
the voltage beforeusing.
l Nousing themachine foralongtime, cut off the machine powersupplies, andpulls
out the plug fromthe ACoutlet.
Caution
l Therearetwomodesofvideo output: one isBNC,and the otherisVGA.Theycan
be switched overviaSTEPkey.Thedefaultoutput isBNC.Linkthelines,poweron
the Recorder, aftertheclock onVFDofthefrontblockgoes, press STEPkey,then
VGAwillhaveoutput. Donotpoweronthemonitorbeforepoweringonthe
recorder
Switchon and shutdown
l Check out the connection of systemand power.
l Normallystop recording and playing at first, then shut off the power.

l Thismachine isanindoorequipment.Inordertoavoidtheshortcircuitor

l If anysolidorliquidentered,pleaseshutoffthe powerimmediately,and ask the

Install machine
l Placethemachine inawell-ventilatedarea.Makesurethatthereisenough
spacearound the machine sothat the ventsarenot blocked.
l Donotplacethe machinenearbythesourceofheat,orindirectsunlightandwet
environment.
Install HDD
Line jump:Beforeinstalling,findoutthemethod ofinstallation inHDD orthe userguide,
check the wayisright ornot.
Dataline: checkwhetherthelinkofdateline iscorrect, the linkofHD must be
inserted intothe bottomparallel.
l 1HDD Installation:JumpHDD asthe master,plug IDElineintothe firstIDEslot
nearthe front panel, connectsthe powercableand the dataline withHDD then.
l 2HDDsInstallation:setone jumptothe masterand the othertothe slave,
connect the sameteamconnect powerline and materialline toeachone.
CLEARHDD
l WhenyouusenewHD,you shouldformatthe HD beforetheoperationofclearing.

Systemoperation
1. Recordoperation
Record operation canbedivided intoManual,Auto,Alert, Motion detect,
and the combination operation of above.
Manual
l “record setting”, Press button “quantity”.
l press “=”start record, 4-channelstart record at the sametime,
the markof record appear on the VFDand monitor.
l manualbelong tothe normalrecord.
l Press “=”stop manualrecord.
AlertRecord
l The parameter in"the alert recordsimage the enactment".(the
related systemsetting chapter for detailssee)
l Press "guard"makethe systembe placed inthe warning.
l The alert record can start withmotion and detect. If you want to
usethisfunction, pleasechoosethe windowof “motion and detect”
on the list inadvance, and setting “alert”..
l The alert record can stop after press “record”button only.
l The lengthof alert record isconfirmed by “TIMEBEFORE”“TIME
AFTER”.
l Whilerecording, there isared signalon the left of VFDand
monitor.The buzzer won t stop until press “clear”.
Motion Detect
l Setting the parameter in”Motion Detect”column.
l Starting the detect recordmust press the “guard”before,but there
isanyother operation before the normaldetect record.
l The timeof normaldetect isdecided by “record time”inmotion
setting;thetimeofalertrecordisdecidedby “alert recordsetting”in
“before/after alert”.
Scheduling record
l Setting the parameter of scheduling record in"the setting

Combination record
l The combination record can be useaccording toneed. Suchas
the scheduling detectsrecord, it needstocombine the scheduling
record setting and detect record setting.
2. Play/ search
You can useIEbrowser software or one toone specificsoftware.
1.one-one specificdisplaysoftware:
l Play, Press “4”on the front paneltoplay, the signalwill show
on the lefttop corner ofthe VFDand screen.Press itagaintostop
running, and the signaldisappears.
l The image played isalwaysthe one that stopped last timeor
recorded recently.
l It can playone byone. Press “play”againwill playnormally.The
forward/reviewbutton can turn the speed, press “play”will renew.
l Press up and downcan choosethe segment of sametype.A
head and atail operation can repeat.
l 4imagescan replayat the sametimeor either one image replays
infull screen.The up, down, left, right button can choosesingle
image, press menu will renew.
l Searching play

Switchon
nConfirmthe safetynoticehasalreadycarried out beforeswitching on.
nCheck the conjunction ofsystem,input, outputand the powersupplybefore
switching on.
nConfirmthe image standard(NTSC/PAL)and monitorsaremet the request.
nIf thereiscorrect, start the exteriorequipmentsfirst.
nIf the DVRisshutdownabnormally,noOSDmarkwillappearwhen switching on,
and the monitorimage isblack.The system willsortofHDD automatically,
afterthesorting, itwill continuetoplaythe recording. TheinformationinHDD
will affect the timeof dislocation and arrangement, pleasewait patiently.
nIf the systemhasalreadysettheschedulerecording and the systemisjustinthe
scheduletime,the systemwillstartthe schedulerecordingaccordingtothe
parameterautomatically.
Shutdown
n Shuttingdownnormallywillmakesystemstop no work,do notshutdownthe
DVRwhen itisrecording orplaying,especiallywhen itisunderrecording.
(Otherwisethe systemwill start the automaticrenewnext time.)
n Press “=“tostoprecordingorpress “4”tostop playing beforeshutting
down,orreturnthe systemsetting listand setthe systeminstopping alert,
then turnleftthe powercontrollock toshut offthe machine.Donotshutoffthe
powersupplywhen the systemisunderrecording backup;otherwisethe
finished recordswill be lose.
n Pulloutthepowercablefromthe ACoutletifthe DVRwillnotbe used fora
long time.
Normal recording
n Connectallpowersuppliesofrelated equipmentsbeforerecording，make
surethe systemhasvideo input.
n Press “information”tolookintothe remaining spaceofHDD,ifthe spacenot
enough, pleasebackup oroverwrite.
n Check "recording parameter”tosetthe image qualitybeforerecording.Also
you can press “quality”toselectit. Theimage qualitycannotbe changed
when the systemisrecording.
n Press “=”tostartrecording,theindicatorwillappear.Press “display”,red
indicatorsforquality,thecurrentdateandtimewillshowon the monitor.Press
“display”again, the stateof HDD will showon monitor.
n Don tstartrecordingintheprocess ofsystemsetting.If the systemissetting,
movethe cursorto “back”insystemsettingwindowtowithdrawfromthe
system-setting window, then press “record”tostart recording.
n If HDD isfullwhen thesystemisrecording,and thesystemhasalreadyset
autooverwritten,the recordwillrun withoutbreak.The systemwill overwrite
fromthe beginning.If thesystemhassettobe manualrecording,and the

earlyalerthassetnottobe "0",therewill be alert. The video recorder
continuestorecordafterthe alertiscleared.Itwillstop recording when HDD
isfull and showasignalforadvice.
n Inmanualrecording,schedulerecording (autorecording)and alertrecording,
the degree isincreased. Therefore,the manualrecording ifuseless when the
systemhasstarted the schedulerecording,and the alertrecording can
interrupttheothertwo.Themanualand schedulerecordingsarenormalones.
The alertrecording isdecidedbyDVR,the manualrecordingiscasual,and
the autorecording isscheduled.
n Set “YES”inthe “secretrecording”inthe “recording parametersetting”tostart
secret recording.
n Set “YES”inthe “Audio”inthe “recording parametersetting”,theaudioand
videowillrecordatthesametime;set “NO”,the systemwill recordwithout
video.
n Fordetailsofparametersetting,pleaseread “recording parametersetting”in
the “systemsetting”.
Alertrecording
n Alertrecording cannotbestartedbypressing “(”.Allthemanualrecordings
areplainrecordings.
n Alert recording can betouched offbyalertinput; therefore,usershouldcheck
the connection of alert inputting equipment beforestarting DVR.
n Alertrecording canbe started bymotion detect. Pre-setitin “motion-detect
setting”inthe “systemsetting”menu, and set “detectrecording”tobe “alert”.
n The systemhastobe pre-guardbeforethe alertrecording starts.Otherwise,
the systemwillnotperformthe alertrecording.Alertornotisnotsetinthe
“systemsetting”menu, but bypressing “alert”inthe front panel.
n Whenthesystemisinalertrecording,the systemhastoreleasefromalert
first beforepressing “=”tostop recording. Rightpassport hastobeinput
beforereleasing fromalert, forthe systemwont performalert recording after
release.
n Check “alertrecordingsetting”and setthe qualitybeforerecording.The
qualitycan t be changed when the systemisrecording.
n When the systemisinalertrecording, ared signalwillappearon the left top
cornerofthe monitor.Theequipmentconnectingtothealertoutputwill
decidethe buzzerwill ringornot. Press “clear”inthefrontpanelcanstopthe
buzzer.
n When the systemisinalertrecording,press “clear”isonlytoclearalert
output, not tostop alert recording.
n The systemcan connect4-channelinput.Therelativenumbersignalon the
lefttop cornerofthe screenwillturnred when the alertrecording hasbeen
started.
n The systemcan separatelysetthe4-channelinputtobe “normalopen”or
“normalclose”.
n Image 1isthe mainone,whichwillbe shownon the screen when the system
isinalertorwhen thealert hasbeen cleared. So,when the 4 –channelinput
isnot full, the image can t be vacant.

n When “pre-alertrecording”isno settobe “0”,press “alert”andthesystem
willbeinalert.Whenthereisalert,thesystemwillrecordthepre-alert
condition.When pre-alertrecording”issettobe “0”,the systemwon tbe in
alert, and the systemwon t recordthe pre-alert condition.
n The largesttimeforalertrecordingis “pre-alertrecording”(less than one
minute)plusthetimeforkeeping the alertinputeffective,and plus “after-alert
recording”(less than one minute).
n The systemhas2-channelalertoutputs.When inputchannel4isworking,
outputchannel1iseffective,anditcan be connected withsiren and other
alerting and locking equipment. Assoon asthe alertrecordingisworking,
output channel2will be effectiveand it can be used inremotemonitor
n Beforealertrecording,the systemcan setanypartofeitherchanneltobe
masked.
n Alertrecording issaved andcan be searchedand re-broadcasted as “alert
recording”.
Motion detection recording
nDetection recordingisaccording tothe averagevarietyrate,when the
environment changesgreatly, it will start recording.
nMotion detectwilldividethe image to16areas,and these16areascanbe set
separatelywhethermotion detectrecordingisperformed.The motion detect
will be started when eitherarea isset “YES”.
n Ina “YES”area,when themovementhasreached “statoscope”,the alert
recordingisstarted. “Statoscope”hasseven optionsin “imagesdetectsetting”.
Usercan adjustthe statoscope incertaincondition.Over-sensitivityand
over-inaction will not reachthe scheduled effect.
nThe kindofrecordisdecided by “detectrecording”,thenormalrecordingis
compared withlastrecording,when the change achieveto “statoscope”can
start .it fit tostableplace.
nThe timefornormaldetectionrecording isdecidedby “recordingtime”inthe
“motion detectsetting”.Thetimeforalertdetectionsettingisdecided by
“recording length”inthe “alert recording setting”.
nPress “guard”tostart alert detects.
n Recording losedetectisaprotection tothe camera.Whenthereissomething
wrong withthecameraorwiththeconnectingbetween cameraandrecorder,
the buzzerwill ring.
nSecret recording cannot affect motion detect.
nFordetailsofparametersetting,pleaseread “motion detectsetting”inthe
“systemsetting”.
Schedulerecording
n It isanormalrecording started and stopped automaticallyaccordingtothe
schedule. It issuitableforfixtimerecording.
n If you wanttousethisfunction,youshouldsetin “schedulerecording”inthe
systemsetting menu first.You canseteachdayseparately.Timesetting
shouldbe 24 hours.

n Pre-set “schedulerecording parametersetting”,and press “schedule”onthe
front paneltostart schedule.The signal“¹”will show.
n It isan autowayforrecording,anditcannotbeused withmanualrecording at
the sametime.Whenyoupress “schedule”,anyotherbuttonwon tbe
effectiveexcept “guard”, “vision”, “play”and “manual”.Even thesystemisnot
underrecording,press “record”andthe systemcannotperformmanual
recording.But usercan settimebypressing “menu”.The othersettingwill be
effectivewhen “schedule”ispressed againnext time.
n Press “schedule”and “REC”canchangetomanualrecording, butyou should
input acorrect password.
n Alert recording iseffectivewhen the systemisschedulerecording.
n It isrelated tothe time; pleasecheck the systemdateand timebeforeusing.
When the power isshut off, the schedulerecording hasno use.
If the timewhen you start power lockisjust inthe schedulerecord
period, press “schedule”, and the systemwill start recording
automatically.
If the machine isdual-operation, when the systemisplaying and
the timehasreached the schedule,schedulerecordingwill startas
background.
For further information, pleaseread “schedulerecording
parameter setting”in “systemsetting”.
Play
n Whenthevideorecorderstopsrecording，press “play”andthevideorecorder
will start toplay.
n Press “play”whilethevideorecorderisrecording,then, playing isactivewhile
recording isasbackground.
n Pressing “play”when the video recorderstopsrecording,the video recorder
always beginsfromwherethe recording stopped lasttimeorthelatest
recording, no matterthe recording isanormalone oran alert one.
n When therecording finishesplaying butno “play”havebeen pressed,the
videorecording willautomaticallyplayfromthe verybeginning.Forexample,
ifthe latestisanormalrecording,thevideo recorderwill playthefirstnormal
recording;ifitisan alertrecording,the video recordingwillplaythe firstalert
recording. It onlystopswhen you press “play”.
n Whenthevideorecordingisplaying,press “pause”and the performancewill
stop forawhile.Press “pause”again,the nextrecordingisplayed.Continually
press “pause”, it willplaythe recordingsone byone sequentially. Press “play”
and it will playnormally.
n Press “play”when the video recorderisforwarding orreviewing,itwillplay
normallyfromthe current position of forwarding orreviewing.

n Continuallypress 8or7,and thesystemwill have6levelsofforwardingand
5levelsof reviewing toshift the speed.
Searching play
Video recordercan performsearching playwhen itisplaying.Therearetwokinds
ofsearchingplay:searchingdependson timeoron the paragraph.The formeris
throughwindowsetting and pressing keysonthe frontpanelperformsthe later.
Howtousesearching playdepending ontime:press “option”,enter “recording
searching setting”,choosefromthe normalrecording and thealertrecording,set
the searchingtime, movethe cursorto “searching”,press the “option”againand it
startssearching.The video recorderwillplayfromthe exacttimeifitfindsthe
setting time;otherwise,itwillplayfromthe nearesttime.Aparagraphmeansa
recordingfromthe beginning totheend.Searching dependingon paragraph has
twokinds,normalrecordingandalertrecording,whichwillsearchthelast
paragraph orthe nextone. When “all”ischosen,itwillsearchthe forepartofthe
current paragraph orthelastone.Tofinishtheperformance,allthe userhastodo
ischooseand press. Play, recordand searchcan be done at the sametime.
Multi-Function System
Insystem,playingandrecordingareindependent. When recording and playing
areperforming at one time, you can stop eitherone fortotallyindependent.
Whenuserstartstorecordasthevideorecordisplaying,nothing will appearon
the screen exceptthe recording indicator.If systemstopsplaying,the recording
willappearon the screen fromthe background. When thevideo recorderstartsto
playasitisrecording,the playing willappearon the screen,the recording asthe
background.
Searching whilethe video recording isplaying,whetheritisrecordingornot.
When the screen qualityofrecordingand playing isset “better”orabove,the
systemwillguarantee thequalityofrecording (asthe background).Then,the
pictureappearing onthe screen maybe notquiteclear.Butthisdoesnotmean the
realqualityofthe playing recording.Stoprecording on thebackground togetknow
the qualityof the playing recording.
Notes:Avoidoperatingmulti-functionsystemunless itisnecessary;especially
avoidfrequentlysearching andplaying foralong timewhen itisrecording,which
will harmHDD.
Password
n Passwordistoprotecttheperformanceof “option”,thustoprotectthesettingand

themthrough thenumberkeys inthefrontpanel.Thepasswordshouldhave8
numbers.
n The systemcan haveno password. Inthe “authority”,leavethe “newkey”and
“retype”tothe blank,whichwill makethe operation ofvideorecorderopen to
everyone.When themanager spasswordiscancelled,the operator s
passwordisuseless.Therefore,the systemcannotkeep the operator s
passwordwithout the manager spassword.
n The systemcan keep the manager spasswordwithoutthe operator s
password.Keep theoperator s “newkey”and “retype”blank,then,the
operator spasswordiscancelled.Butusercannotoperatethe systemasan
operator.
n Tosetanewpasswordwhen the systemhasno passwordbefore,remember
tokeep the “oldkey”blank, otherwisethe newpasswordwon t be accepted.
n The managerendowsall the rightstothe operatorinthe “authority”and allows
the operatortosetandmanage alltheitems,whichmeansthemanagerand
the operatorhavedifferentpasswords,butonlythe managerhasthe rightto
set “system”inthe “option”.
n When the systemhasthe password,eachtimeyou press “option”,the “input

levelsof passwordhavebeen input.
n Besidessystemoperatingpassword,therearepasswordsforstopping guard
and stopping scheduled recording.
HDD password
n The information inoursystemHDD hasbeen protectedbypassword. Therefore,
HDD cannotbe readincomputersand videorecordingsproducedbyother
manufactures.
n The passwordinHDD cannotbechanged.AHDD hasonlyone password,and
masterand slave(orthe backup disc)cannot usedifferent passwords.
n You can chooseanyeightnumbersfrom0to9asthepasswords,withthe default
88888888.Although HDD passwordissimilartooperating password,the two
aredifferent intheirconcept and function.
n The passwordcanonlybe setwhen “formatdisc”ispressed.Onlybyinputting
the oldpasswordcanyouformatHDD,therefore,thepasswordisalsoa
protection tothe operation of “format disk”.
n You can setanewpasswordwheneveryou formatHDD. You can leaveblankthe
“newkey”and “retype”, sothat thereisno password.
Thechoice and format ofdisc
n The memoryinoursystemisHDD.WithoutHDD extender,the systemcan install

HDD,pleasesetit “slave”asthe instructionofthe manufacture. Otherwise,the
systemwon t work.
n The second HDD can workasan “assistantdisc”tostoreinformation and
operate.The choiceofHDD issetthrough “chooseworking disc”.When the
slaveisconfirmed asthe working disc,theplaying and searching willbe
operated inslave, but the recording isstill on the master.
n “Formatdisc”issimilartoinitialformat, whichmeansall the information inthe
disc will be lost. Afterinputting the right oldpassword, you can format HDD.
n Beforeformattingmaster,you can changethe password,whichwillbe ineffect
when you reuseHDD.The slaveshouldusethe samepassword.
Systemsetting
n Systemsettingisthrough “option”.If the systemhasthe password,when you
press “option”, “inputpassword”willappear.Onlyafterinputting the right
passwordwill the systemsetting menu appear.
n When the systemhastwolevelsofpassword,the managerand the operator
havedifferent setting menus.
n Everyiteminthe systemsetting menu hasitsownsetting window.Everyitem
isthrough “option”and thefourdirection keysbelowthe “option”key.The up
and downkeys areused tochoosefromdifferent items;the left andrightkeys
areused tomoveinthechosenitem.If thechosen itemhasseveraloptions,
the leftand rightkeysareusedtomakedifferentoptions.The numberitemis
setbythenumberkeys inthe frontpanel.Afterthe setting,press “option”to
confirmit.
n The systemsetting won t be lost when the powerisoff.
Display
n Afterpoweron,the symbolofthe manufacturerwill appearforabout5
seconds.If the powerisabnormallyoffwhen the systemisrecording,putthe
poweron andnosymbolwillappear.HDD willworkbyitselfandcontinue to
record.
n Eachkeyhasitsownindicatorsinthe front paneltoshowthe state.
n Press”display”,signstoshowdifferentstates(thenormalrecording,the
scheduled recording,the alertrecording,play,pause,forward,review,etc.)will
appearinthetop leftcornerofthe monitor,and signstoshowthe timeand
dateinthetop rightcornerofthe screen (when the systemisrecording and
stopping,itisthe currenttime;when playing,itisthe thentime.)Press
“display”again, alistabout the spaceof HDD and theremainingspaceof HDD
willappearonthescreen,allwill disappearwhen pressing “display”again.
“Display”isindependent fromrecording,playing andstopping,but it cannotbe
used when the systemissetting.
n Press “information”,allinformation aboutthe stateofHDD willappearonthe
screen,anddisappearafter10seconds.Dontpress “information”when the
systemisrecording, playing orsystemsetting.

Qualitywithmemoryspace &HDD withrecording time
n The qualityinourvideorecorderhaseightlevels:1-7levelsand user-setting.
The user –setting qualitywilltake1MB/h(the lowestquality)to1600MB/h(the
highest quality)of the disc space.
n Higherthe quality,the morespaceitwilltake,and the video recordingcan
recordformuchlesstime,sotheusershouldchoosetheappropriatequality
and quantity.
n The qualityshouldbe setbeforethe recording.Nochange ofqualitysetting
during the systemisrecording!
n The qualityofthe normalrecording,scheduledrecording and the alert
recordingissetindependentlyindifferent windows(Scheduledrecordingisset
everyday.);ortheyaresetbycontinuallypressing “quality”when the systemis
not recording.
