Hearing safety
Listen at a moderate volume.
Using headphones at a high volume can impair your hearing. This•
product can produce sounds in decibel ranges that may cause hearing
loss for a normal person, even for exposure less than a minute. The
higher decibel ranges are offered for those that may have already
experienced some hearing loss.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing ‘comfort level’•
adapts to higher volumes of sound. So after prolonged listening, what
sounds ‘normal’ can actually be loud and harmful to your hearing. To
guard against this, set your volume to a safe level before your hearing
adapts and leave it there.
To establish a safe volume level:
Set your volume control at a low setting.•
Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and•
clearly, without distortion.
Listen for reasonable periods of time:
Prolonged exposure to sound, even at normally ‘safe’ levels, can also•
cause hearing loss.
Be sure to use your equipment reasonably and take appropriate•
breaks.

Environmental information
All unnecessary packaging has been omitted. We have tried to make
the packaging easy to separate into three materials: cardboard (box),
polystyrene foam (buffer) and polyethylene (bags, protective foam sheet.)
Your system consists of materials which can be recycled and reused
if disassembled by a specialized company. Please observe the local
regulations regarding the disposal of packaging materials, exhausted
batteries and old equipment.

2 Your portable DVD player
Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to Philips!To fully benefit

Introduction
Your portable DVD player plays digital video discs that conform to the
universal DVD Video standard.With it, you can play movies with true cinema
picture quality and stereo or multi-channel sound (depending on disc and
playback set-up).
You can also select sound track, subtitle languages, and different angle of view
(again depending on DVD disc). Besides, you can restrict the play of discs that
are not suitable for children.

RW, DVD±R and DVD±RW):

Caution
Use the controls only as stated in this user manual.•

Preparation
Warning
Remove the mounting kit and the DVD player from the seat when the DVD player•
is not in use.
To use the player in a car, attach the main unit and the second screen to the
back of the front seat headrests.

D. Headrest mount bracket
1Fix the headrest mount bracket on to the front seat headrest.

aPosition the bracket on the bars of the headrest.
bFasten the screw to fix the bracket firmly on the bars.
2Fix the DVD mount bracket to the portable DVD player.
Note
There are three holes on the bracket. Use any one as you like.•
3Aim the screw of the bracket to the screw nut on the back of the
DVD player.
Screw tight the bracket onto the DVD player.•
4Install the DVD player to the headrest.
Buckle DVD bracket into the headrest mount bracket.•
5Adjust the viewing angle.

aRelease the node.
bAdjust the viewing angle as desired.
cFasten the node.
6Press the release button to release the DVD player from headrest.
To attach the second screen, repeat the above steps.•

1Connect one end of the double-connector end of the AC cable to
the DC IN jack on the main unit.
2Connect the other end of the double-connector end of the AC cable
to the DC IN jack on the second screen.
3Connect the one-connector end to the car cigarette lighter socket.
Charge the battery
Caution
Risk of product damage! Ensure that the power supply voltage corresponds to the•
voltage printed on the bottom of the player.
Use only the supplied AC adaptor to charge the battery.
•
Note
The type plate is located on the bottom of the player.•
You can only charge the player when it is in power-off mode.•
1Slide the ON/OFF switch to OFF position.
2Connect the supplied AC adaptor to the player and to the AC outlet.
The charge indicator turns on. It takes about 4 hours to fully charge»
the battery.
When the battery is fully charged, the charge indicator turns off.»

4 Use your player
Turn on
1Slide the ON/OFF switch on the main unit to the ON position.
To turn on the second screen, slide the• OFF/ON switch on the
second screen to the ON position.
Select OSD language
You can choose a different language for the on-screen display text.
1Press SETUP.
The setup menu appears.»
2Select [General] > [Language].
3Press to select an option.
4Press OK to confirm.
5Press SETUP to exit.
Play discs
1Slide OPEN on the main unit.
2Insert the disc with label side facing up.
3Push down to close the disc compartment.
Play starts automatically. If not, press»/OK.
If a menu appears, select an item, then press»/OK to start play.
To pause, press»/OK. Press again to resume play.
To stop, press»twice.
To select the previous/next item, press»or .
To start search within video/audio, press»or once or more.

1During play, press OPTIONS to select some play options.
2Follow the on-screen instructions.

5 Adjust settings
Set the main unit
To maximize your play experience, use SETUP to fine tune your settings.
1Press SETUP.
The setup menu is displayed.»
2Use navigation keys to select an option and press OK to confirm.
[General]
[Language] Select on-screen display language
[PBC settings] Set playback control function on/off.
[DivX (VOD)] Get DivX registration code.
[DivX subtitles] Select DivX subtitle language.
[Power save] Set power saving mode.
[Parental(DVD)] Select parental options.
[Set password] Change existing password.
[Factory settings] Restore factory settings.
[Video]
[LCD Display] Set screen display aspect ratio.
[TV standard] Set video output format to TV system.
[Brightness] Adjust screen brightness.
[Contrast] Adjust screen contrast.
[ Audio]
[Dolby] Set Dolby output.
[Version] Check the version information.
3Press to go back to the previous menu.
4Press SETUP to exit.

Set the second screen
You can also set the second screen.
To adjust volume level for the second screen, press• VOL -/+ on the
second screen.
To adjust the brightness of the second screen, press• BRIGHTNESS
-/+ on the second screen.

6 Use more of your player
Connect additional equipment
Caution
Turn off your player before connecting to any additional equipment.•
You can connect the player to a TV or an amplifier to enjoy DVDs or
Karaoke.
Match the color of the AV cables (the AV cable connected to TV is not
supplied) with the jacks: the yellow cable is for the yellow video jack, the red/
white cable is for the red/white audio jacks.
Connect power from household source
Caution
