Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future
reference.
Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage before
you connect the appliance.
Do not use the appliance if the plug, the cord or the appliance itself is damaged.
If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by
Philips or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
Never suck up water or any other liquid. Never suck up ammable substances and do not
suck up ashes until they are cold.
Do not point the hose, the tube or any other accessory at the eyes or ears nor put it in your
mouth when it is connected to the vacuum cleaner and the vacuum cleaner is switched on.
Sucking up large objects may cause the air passage in the tube or hose to become
obstructed. If this happens, the obstruction needs to be removed.
Never use the appliance without the Motor Protection Filter.This could damage the motor
and shorten the life of the appliance.
Only use the Philips lter cylinder supplied with the appliance.

The lter cylinder is not waterproof and cannot be cleaned with water or cleaning agents.
Only clean the lter with the Filter-Clean system.

Preparing for use
Connecting accessories
Hose
1 To connect the hose, push it rmly into the appliance (‘click’). (Fig. 2)
2 To disconnect the hose, press the release button (1) and pull the hose out of the appliance
(2). (Fig. 3)
Telescopic tube
1 Connect the tube to the handgrip of the hose by pressing the spring-loaded lock button on
the handgrip and inserting the handgrip into the tube. Fit the spring-loaded lock button into
the opening in the tube (‘click’). (Fig. 4)
2 To disconnect the tube from the handgrip, press the spring-loaded lock button and pull the
handgrip out of the tube.
Use the same method to connect and disconnect the nozzles.
3 Adjust the tube to the length you nd most comfortable during vacuum cleaning. (Fig. 5)
Tri-Active nozzle
The Tri-Active nozzle is a multi-purpose nozzle for carpets and hard oors. (Fig. 6)
The side brushes catch more dust and dirt at the sides of the nozzle and allow you to clean better
along furniture and other obstacles.
The opening at the front of the nozzle allows you to suck up larger particles. (Fig. 7)
1 To clean hard oors, push the rocker switch on top of the nozzle with your foot to make the
brush strip come out of the housing.At the same time the wheel will be lifted to prevent
scratching and to increase manoeuvrability. (Fig. 8)
2 To clean carpets, push the rocker switch again to make the brush strip disappear into the
nozzle housing. The wheel will be lowered automatically. (Fig. 9)
Crevice tool, small nozzle and small brush
1 Connect the crevice tool (1), the small nozzle (2) or the small brush (3) directly to the
handgrip or to the tube. (Fig. 10)
Accessory holder
The accessory holder can simply be snapped onto the handgrip. (Fig. 11)
The accessories can be stored in the accessory holder by pushing them into the holder.To detach
the accessories, pull them out of the holder.
You can store two accessories at a time in the accessory holder:
Crevice tool and small nozzle. (Fig. 12)
Please note the way in which the small nozzle must be placed in the accessory holder.

Infrared remote control (specic types only)
1 Remove the lid of the battery compartment (1) and insert two AAA 1.5-volt batteries (2).
Reattach the lid of the battery compartment (3). (Fig. 14)
Make sure that the - and + poles point in the right direction.
Using the appliance
1 Pull the cord out of the appliance and put the mains plug in the wall socket.
2 Press the on/off button on top of the appliance to switch on the appliance. (Fig. 15)
Adjusting suction power
During vacuum cleaning, you can adjust the suction power to one of 5 different settings with
the MIN and MAX buttons on top of the appliance. (Fig. 16)
If your appliance is equipped with an infrared remote control (specic types only) you can set
the suction power to one of 5 different settings with the – and + buttons on the infrared
remote control. (Fig. 17)
The blue suction power lights show the selected suction power level.
Usemaximumsuctionpowertovacuumverydirtycarpetsandhardoors.
Use minimum suction power to vacuum curtains, table carpets, etc.
When you switch on the appliance, it starts running at the last selected suction power
setting. If your appliance is equipped with an infrared remote control (specic types only) it
starts running at the highest suction power. (Fig. 15)
Pausing during use
1 If you want to pause for a moment, park the tube in a convenient position by inserting the
ridge on the nozzle into the parking slot. (Fig. 18)
2 If your appliance is equipped with an infrared remote control (specic types only), press the
standby button to temporarily switch the vacuum cleaner off, for instance when you have to
move some furniture. (Fig. 19)
The middle suction power light starts burning to indicate that the vacuum cleaner is in
standby mode.
3 To continue vacuum cleaning, simply press the standby button, - or + button.
Using the Filter-Clean button
Acleanltercylinderhelpsmaintainhighsuctionpower.
Always press the Filter-Clean button when you have nished vacuum cleaning.
Thelter-cleaningprocessonlyneedstobeperformedoncetoguaranteepropercleaningofthe
lter.
1 Switch off the appliance and leave the mains plug in the wall socket during the lter-cleaning
process.
2 Keep the appliance in horizontal position, with all wheels touching the oor.
Always leave the hose connected to the appliance during the lter-cleaning process to prevent
dust from being blown out of the appliance.
3 Press the Filter-Clean button. (Fig. 20)
The light in the Filter-Clean button goes on and you hear a beep before the lter-cleaning
process starts.

During the lter-cleaning process the appliance produces a rattling noise. This is completely
normal.
When the lter-cleaning process is nished, you hear a beep and the light in the Filter-Clean
button goes out.
4 You can also press the Filter-Clean button during vacuum cleaning.
When you do this, the motor stops running and the lter cleaning-process starts. During the
lter-cleaning process, the appliance does not suck up dirt. When the lter-cleaning process is
nished, the motor automatically starts running again and you can continue vacuum cleaning.
If you fail to press the Filter-Clean button after vacuuming several times, the light in the
Filter-Clean button starts blinking.This tells you that you need to press the Filter-Clean
button to prevent the lter from becoming clogged.
The light stops blinking after you have cleaned the lter by pressing the Filter-Clean button.
Cleaning and maintenance
Always press the Filter-Clean button when you have nished vacuum cleaning.
Cleaning the dust bucket and lter cylinder case
Always unplug the appliance before you empty the dust bucket.
The dust bucket is not dishwasher-proof.
1 Empty the dust bucket as soon as the dust level has reached the round disc of the lter
cylinder case. (Fig. 21)
2 Switch off the appliance, remove the mains plug from the wall socket and disconnect the
hose from the appliance.
3 Unlock the cover by pressing the release button on top of the handle of the dust bucket (1).
Swing the cover open (2). (Fig. 22)
4 Remove the dust bucket by lifting it out of the appliance. (Fig. 23)
5 Hold the dust bucket over a dustbin and lift the lter cylinder case out of the bucket. Empty
the bucket. (Fig. 24)
6 Gently tap the lter cylinder case against the dustbin to release all ne dust from the case.

7 If you want to clean the lter cylinder case more thoroughly, rst remove the lter cylinder
from the case. To remove the lter cylinder, turn the handle on top of the lter cylinder
anticlockwise (1) and lift the lter cylinder out of the case (2). (Fig. 26)
8 Then clean the lter cylinder case with a dry cloth or with cold tap water and some washing-
up liquid. (Fig. 27)
Do not clean the lter cylinder case with the lter cylinder in it under the tap. (Fig. 28)
9 Put the lter cylinder back into the lter cylinder case.
Make sure that the lter cylinder case is dry before you reinsert the lter cylinder into it.
10 Clean the dust bucket with cold tap water and some washing-up liquid.
11 Put the lter cylinder case back into the dust bucket.
Make sure that the dust bucket is dry before you reinsert the lter cylinder case.
If you have not reinserted the lter cylinder case, the suction power lights start blinking and the
appliance cannot be switched on.

Cleaning the lter cylinder
If you persistently fail to press the Filter-Clean button when the light in the Filter-Clean button blinks,
theltercylinderwillclogupwithdirtandthesuctionpowerwillbecomeinsufcient.
Ifthishashappened,youcanunclogtheltercylinderinthefollowingway:
1 Switch off the appliance and remove the mains plug from the wall socket.
2 Unlock the cover by pressing the release button on top of the handle of the dust bucket (1).
Swing the cover open (2). (Fig. 22)
3 Remove the dust bucket by lifting it out of the appliance. (Fig. 23)
4 Hold the dust bucket over a dustbin and lift the cylinder case out of the bucket. (Fig. 24)
5 Turn the handle on top of the lter cylinder anticlockwise (1) and lift the lter cylinder out
of the case (2). (Fig. 26)
6 Hold the lter cylinder over a dustbin and clean it with the small brush. Gently brush from
the top of the lter downwards along the ribs of the lter. (Fig. 29)
Only use the small brush that comes as an accessory with the appliance. Other brushes may
damage the lter cylinder.
The lter cylinder is not waterproof and cannot be cleaned with water or cleaning agents.

7 Put the lter cylinder back into the case and turn the handle clockwise until the lter
cylinder locks into position.
Makesuretheltercylinderissecurelyxedinthecase(‘click’).
8 Put the case with the lter cylinder in it back into the dust bucket and put the dust bucket
back into the appliance.
9 Close the cover rmly (‘click’).
10 Put the plug in the wall socket. Make sure the appliance is in horizontal position, with all
wheels touching the oor, and the hose is connected to the appliance.
11 Press the Filter-Clean button. (Fig. 20)
12 For the best result, empty the dust bucket when the lter-cleaning process is nished (see
section ‘Cleaning the dust bucket and lter cylinder case’).
Cleaning the Motor Protection Filter
Clean the permanent Motor Protection Filter every two months.
1 Unplug the appliance.
2 Take the Motor Protection Filter out of the appliance and clean the lter by tapping the dust
out of it over a dustbin. (Fig. 30)
If you want to clean the Motor Protection Filter more thoroughly, you can rinse it under a cold tap.
Do not use washing-up liquid or any other cleaning agent to clean the Motor Protection Filter!
3 Press the clean lter rmly back into the lter compartment to ensure that it is properly
placed.
Make sure that the Motor Protection Filter is completely dry before you put it back into the
lter compartment.

Replacement
Super or Ultra Clean Air HEPA Filter
This appliance is equipped with either the Super Clean Air HEPA Filter or the Ultra Clean Air HEPA
Filter.Theseltersarelocatedinthebackoftheapplianceandareabletoremove99.5%and99.9%,
respectively, of all particles down to 0.0003 mm in size from the outlet air.This not only includes
normal house dust, but also harmful microscopic vermin such as dust mites and their excrements,
which are well-known causes of respiratory allergies.
Replace the HEPA Filter every six months.
1 Unplug the appliance.
2 Remove the lter grille. (Fig. 31)
3 Remove the old lter. (Fig. 32)
4 Insert the new lter into the appliance.
5 Reattach the top of the lter grille and push the bottom corners until they snap home
(‘click’). (Fig. 33)
Batteries of remote control (specic types only)
1 Remove the lid of the battery compartment (1) and insert two AAA 1.5-volt batteries (2).
Reattach the lid (3). (Fig. 14)
Make sure that the - and + poles point in the right direction.
Storage
Before you store the appliance, always make sure you have cleaned the lter cylinder by pressing
the Filter-Clean button (see section ‘Using the Filter-Clean button’ in chapter ‘Using the
appliance’).
1 Switch off the appliance and remove the mains plug from the wall socket.
2 Rewind the mains cord by pressing the cord rewind button. (Fig. 34)
3 Put the appliance in upright position and attach the nozzle to the appliance by inserting the
ridge on the nozzle into the storage slot. (Fig. 35)
4 Always put the Tri-Active nozzle in the carpet setting (brush strip retracted into the
nozzle) when you store it and prevent the side brushes from becoming bent (Fig. 9)

Environment
The batteries of the remote control (specic types only) contain substances that may pollute
the environment. Do not throw batteries away with the normal household waste, but dispose
of them at an ofcial collection point for batteries. Always remove the battery of the remote
control before you discard and hand in the appliance at an ofcial collection point.
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but
hand it in at an ofcial collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the

Troubleshooting
1 The light in the Filter-Clean button blinks.
The lter cylinder needs to be cleaned. Press the Filter-Clean button to clean the lter
cylinder.
2 The appliance cannot be switched on and the suction power lights blink.
The lter cylinder case with the lter cylinder in it has not been inserted into the dust
bucket. Insert the lter cylinder case with the lter cylinder.
3 The suction power is insufcient.
Perhaps you have selected a low suction power setting. Select a higher suction power setting.
Perhaps the lter cylinder is lled with dirt. If necessary, clean this lter.
Perhaps the Motor Protection Filter and/or the Ultra or Super Clean Air HEPA Filter are
dirty. Clean or replace the lters.
Check if the nozzle or the hose is blocked up. To remove the obstruction, disconnect the
blocked-up item and connect it (as far as possible) the other way around. Switch the vacuum
cleaner on to force the air through the blocked-up item in opposite direction (Fig. 37)
4 The infrared remote control (specic types only) does not function.
Perhaps the batteries have not been inserted properly or are empty. Insert the batteries
properly or replace them.
Remove the lid of the battery compartment (1) and insert two new AAA 1.5-volt batteries
batteries (2). Make sure that the - and + poles point in the right direction. Reattach the lid of

4 진공 청소기를 사용하는 도중에도 필터 청소 버튼을 누를 수 있습니다.
이렇게 하면, 모터가 작동을 멈추고 필터 청소가 시작됩니다. 필터를 청소하는 도중
에는 제품이 먼지를 흡입하지 않습니다. 필터 청소가 끝나면 모터가 다시 자동으로
작동되기 시작하고 청소를 계속할 수 있습니다.
진공 청소기를 여러 차례 사용한 후에 필터 청소 버튼을 누르지 않으면, 필터 청소 버
튼의 표시등이 깜박이기 시작합니다. 이것은 필터가 막히는 것을 방지하기 위하여 필
터 청소 버튼을 눌러야 됨을 알려주는 것입니다.
필터 청소 버튼을 눌러서 필터를 청소하고 나면 표시등이 깜박임을 멈춥니다.
청소 및 유지관리
청소를마치면항상필터청소버튼을누르십시오.
먼지통 및 필터 실린더 케이스 청소
먼지통을비우기전에항상제품의전원코드를뽑으십시오.
먼지통은식기세척기에서세척할수없습니다.
1 먼지 용량이 필터 실린더 케이스의 원형 디스크에 이르면 먼지통을 비우십시오. (그

2 제품 전원을 끄고 벽면 콘센트에서 전원 플러그를 뽑은 다음 제품에서 호스를 분리하
십시오.
3 먼지통 손잡이의 상단에 있는 릴리스 버튼을 눌러 덮개 잠금을 해제하십시오(1). 덮

4 제품에서 먼지통을 들어내어 분리하십시오. (그림 23)
5 먼지통을 휴지통 위에 놓고 먼지통의 필터 실린더 케이스를 들어내십시오. 통을 비우

6 필터 실린더 케이스를 휴지통에 대고 가볍게 두드려서 미세 먼지를 모두 털어내십시

7 필터 실린더 케이스를 더 깨끗하게 청소하려면 우선 필터 실린더를 케이스에서 분리
하십시오. 필터 실린더를 분리하려면, 필터 실린더 상단의 손잡이를 시계 반대 방향

8 그런 다음 필터 실린더 케이스를 마른 천으로 닦거나 소량의 세제를 푼 찬 수돗물로

필터청소버튼의표시등이깜박여도필터청소버튼을누르지않으면필터실린더가먼
지로막히게되며흡입력이약해집니다.
이와같은경우에는다음과같은방법으로필터실린더의막힌부분을청소할수있습니
다.
1 제품 전원을 끄고 벽면 콘센트에서 전원 플러그를 뽑으십시오.
2 먼지통 손잡이의 상단에 있는 릴리스 버튼을 눌러 덮개 잠금을 해제하십시오(1). 덮

3 제품에서 먼지통을 들어내어 분리하십시오. (그림 23)

8 필터 실린더가 들어있는 케이스를 먼지통에 다시 넣고 먼지통을 제품 안에 넣으십시
오.

10 벽면 콘센트에 플러그를 꽂으십시오. 제품이 모든 바퀴가 바닥에 닿은 수평 상태로
놓여있고 호스가 제품에 연결되어 있는지 확인하십시오.

12 최상의 효과를 얻으려면, 필터 청소 과정이 끝난 후 먼지통을 비우십시오(‘먼지통

모터 보호 필터 청소
매2개월마다영구모터보호필터를청소하십시오.
1 제품의 전원 코드를 뽑으십시오.
2 제품에서 모터 보호 필터를 꺼내고, 휴지통 위에서 필터의 먼지를 깨끗하게 털어내십

교체
수퍼 울트라 클린 에어 HEPA 필터
본제품에는수퍼클린에어HEPA필터또는울트라클린에어HEPA필터가장착되어
있습니다.이필터는제품뒤편에있으며,배출공기에서나오는0.0003mm크기의미
립자를각각99.5%및99.9%까지제거할수있습니다.여기에는일반가정먼지뿐아
니라호흡기알레르기를유발하는먼지진드기및진드기배설물과같은해로운미세해
충도포함됩니다.
HEPA필터를매6개월마다교체하십시오.
1 제품의 전원 코드를 뽑으십시오.
2 필터 그릴을 분리하십시오. (그림 31)
3 오래된 필터를 빼내십시오. (그림 32)
4 제품에 새 필터를 끼우십시오.

문제 해결
1 필터 청소 버튼의 표시등이 깜박입니다.
필터 실린더를 청소해야 합니다. 필터 청소 버튼을 눌러서 필터 실린더를 청소하십시
오.
2 제품 전원이 켜지지 않고 흡입력 표시등이 깜박입니다.
필터 실린더 케이스에 필터 실린더를 넣지 않은 상태로 필터 실린더 케이스를 먼지통
에 넣었습니다. 필터 실린더 케이스를 필터 실린더가 들어 있는 상태에서 넣으십시
오.
3 흡입력이 약합니다.
흡입력이 낮게 설정되어있을 수 있습니다. 흡입력 설정을 더 강하게 하십시오.
필터 실린더에 먼지가 가득 찬 것일 수 있습니다. 필요한 경우 이 필터를 청소하십시
오.
모터 보호 필터 및/또는 울트라 또는 수퍼 클린 에어 HEPA 필터가 더러워진 것일 수
있습니다. 필터를 청소하거나 교체하십시오.
노즐이나 호스가 막혔는지 확인하십시오. 이물질을 제거하려면 막힌 부분을 분리하
여 반대 방향으로 하여 가능한 멀리 연결하십시오. 진공 청소기의 전원을 켜서 막힌
부분에 공기가 반대 방향으로 통하도록 하십시오. (그림 37)
4 적외선 리모콘(특정 모델만 해당)이 작동하지 않습니다.
배터리가 제대로 삽입되지 않았거나 방전된 것일 수 있습니다. 배터리를 제대로 삽입
하거나 교체하십시오.
