the manufacturer.
CART – An appliance and cart combination
should be moved with care. Quick stops,
excessive force, and uneven surfaces may
causethe applianceandcartcombinationto
overturn.

SAFETY CHECK – Upon completion of any
service or repairs to this appliance, ask the
servicetechniciantoperformsafetychecks
todetermine thattheappliance is inproper
operating condition.
DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE – Unplug this
appliancefromthewalloutletandcallyour
cable company under the following
conditions:
÷When the power-supply cord or plug is
damaged.
÷If liquid has been spilled, or objects have
fallen into the appliance.
÷Iftheappliancehasbeenexposedtorainor
water.
÷If the appliance does not operate normally
by following the operating instructions.
Adjustonly those controls thatarecovered
by the operating instructions. Improper
adjustment of other controls may result in
damage and will often require extensive
work by a qualified technician to restore
the appliance to its normal operation.
÷If the appliance has been dropped or the
cabinet has been damaged.
÷When the appliance exhibits a distinct
change in performance – this indicates a
need for service.
POLARIZATION – This unit's power cord has a
polarized plug (one blade is wider than the
other). This plug will fit into the power outlet
only one way. This is a safety feature. If you
are unable to insert the plug fully into the
outlet,tryreversingtheplug.Iftheplugshould
stillfailtofit,contactyourelectriciantoreplace
your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety
purpose of the polarized plug.
POWER-CORD PROTECTION – Power-supply
cords should be routed so that they are not
likely to be walked on or pinched by items
placed upon or against them. Pay particular
attention to cords at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit
from the appliance.
OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING – If an
outsideantenna or cable system is connected
to the video product, be sure the antenna or
cable system is grounded so as to provide
some protection against voltage surges and
built-up static charges. Section 810 of the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70,
provides information with respect to proper
grounding of the mast and supporting
structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge unit, size of grounding
conductors, location of antenna-discharge
unit,connectiontogroundingelectrodes,and
requirementsforthegroundingelectrode.See
Figure A.
LIGHTNING – For added protection for the unit
during a lightning storm, unplug it from the
wall outlet and disconnect the cable system
input. This will prevent damage due to
lightning and power-line surges.
OVERLOADING – Do not overload wall outlets
andextensioncords as this can result in a risk
of fire or electric shock.
OBJECTANDLIQUIDENTRY–Neverpushobjects
of any kind into this appliance through
openingsastheymaytouchdangerousvoltage
points or short-out parts that could result in a
fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any
kind on the appliance.
VENTILATION – Slots and openings in the
cabinetareprovidedforventilationtoensure
reliable operation of the appliance and to
protectitfromoverheating.Theseopenings
mustnotbeblockedorcovered.Theyshould
never be blocked by placing the appliance
on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface.
This appliance should never be placed near
or over a radiator or heat register. This
appliance should not be placed in a built-in
installationsuchasabookcaseorrackunless
proper ventilation is provided or the
manufacturer's instructions have been
adhered to.
POWER SOURCES – The appliance should be
operated only on the voltage indicated on
the product label. If you are not sure of the
type of power supply to your home, consult
your appliance dealer or local power
company.
