Display Components
The LED on the display front
indicates display status. Green, the
display is connected and running
properly. Amber, the video signal is
not being received.
The integrated video cable and
input power port are located on
the back. NOTE: When you con-
nect the dual-link DVI cable to the
graphics card, you must attach the
cable connector to the bottom port
of the card. In operation, when the
cable is disconnected, the display
backlight turns o and the unit
enters power-saving mode.
No other user-accessible controls
are available. You must use the
Dome CXtra software to control
display brightness and power-
saving functions.
After installation, the display turns
on automatically when you turn
on your computer system.

Installing the Display Controller
To install the controller
1 Turn o your computer and all peripherals.
Disconnect all cables from your computer.
Leave the power cord plugged into the
grounded outlet.
2 Remove the computer cover.
3 Remove any existing graphics card and video
signal cable, if necessary.
4 Remove the blank bracket from the available
PCI slot.
5 Insert the controller into the slot, align the
connector pins, and press the board down
until it is rmly seated.
6 Secure the mounting bracket.
7 Reattach the computer cover and the
peripherals.
Remove any existing graphics card and its driver from your computer system
before you install the MX4 board and driver. Also disable any onboard graphics
capability on the motherboard. See safety precautions on page 2.

Connecting the Display
To connect the display
1 Plug the DVI cable into the bottom
video port of the installed controller.
(Only the bottom port allows you to
enable dual-link functionality.
Use the bottom port to support the
display with the full, non-scaled
2560 x 1600 resolution.)
2 Plug the power cord into the input
power port on the connector plate.
3 Plug the power cord from the power
adapter into a grounded outlet.
NOTE: The display turns on automatically
when you turn on your computer system.
Use only the power cord supplied with your display.

Before you install the driver, remove any previously installed display driver
for the display controller from your system.
To install the display driver
1 Start your computer system. Click Cancel on the Found New Hardware Wizard.
Click No at the restart prompt.
2 Insert the driver installation CD and click Next.
3 Auto-detection reports the driver version and graphics board(s). Click Next.
4 Click the check box to enable independent mode for each graphics card.
Click Next.
5 Click Next to continue. File copy begins.
6 Click Continue Anyway on the dialog reporting no digital signature.
Repeat for a second graphics card.
7 Click Next upon completion of the driver installation.
8 Select the Restart computer option and click Finish.
To congure the display
1 Right-click the desktop and select Properties > Settings.
2 Use the native resolution of the display, 2560x1600.
3 For use of the second display, select Extend my Windows desktop onto
this monitor.
4 Click OK until you return to the desktop.

Use the PowerDesk dialog to make changes to the video settings.
To rotate the display
1 Click the PowerDesk icon (on taskbar), and select Monitor Adjustments on the
PowerDesk menu.
2 Select Adjust Orientation, then the degree of rotation. Click OK.
To set up multi-display mode
1 Click the PowerDesk icon, and select Multi-Display Setup.
2 Select the device and multi-display setup you want to use. Click OK.
To change video setting per display
1 Click the PowerDesk icon.
2 On the PowerDesk menu, select the graphics card representing the display you
want to change video settings on, then select Grayscale Setup category.
NOTE: Grayscale mode is the installation default.
3 Select one of the options: Use Color (RGB mode) or 256 (Grayscale mode).
When using the grayscale mode, be sure to select the xed linear gray palette.
4 Click OK, then restart the system.
NOTE: You must restart the system each time you change the video settings of a
display. For dual congurations, change the settings of the rst display and restart
the system, then change the settings of the second display and restart.
To set the brightness
You must have the Dome CXtra software installed to change the display
brightness. Adjust the value of the white level on the Backlight tab of the
RightLight Panel Conguration.

Handling the Display
•Set up your display on a stable,
level surface away from any direct
light or heat source, but near a
grounded AC outlet.
•Choose a well-ventilated location
with an adequate amount of space.
Do not block the vents on the back
of the display.
•Never lift the display by the desk
stand. Use both hands to lift or
move the display. Avoid touching
the screen.
•Never apply pressure to the screen
or touch the screen with bare ngers
or with any objects.
•Allow the display unit to reach room
temperature before you power it on.
Ambient room temperature ranges
from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
•Avoid sudden temperature changes
in the environment, as this may
cause condensation in the display.
•Never remove the back cover or
disassemble the display. There are
no user-serviceable parts inside.
•When troubleshooting, check that
all cables are properly connected
and that your computer is turned on
or not in power-saving mode.
•Follow your local governing
ordinance for proper disposal or
recycling of electronic components.
Hand injury may result from misuse of the desk stand when
lowering the display height. Avoid holding the bottom area
of the display. Never place your hands between the display
and the desk stand.
To lower the display height, grasp both sides of the display
and push down.

Regulatory Compliance
This display has been tested and found to comply with IEC/EN 60601-1 and IEC/EN 60601-1-2 standards,
and is certied to meet medical standard C22.2 No. 601.1-M90 (C US Mark).
The medical display, in addition to meeting medical requirements, has been tested and found to comply
with the limits for Federal Communications Commission Class B computing devices in a typically
congured system since many medical oces are located in residential areas. It is the system integrator’s
responsibility to test and ensure that the entire system complies with applicable electromagnetic
compatibility laws.
The MX graphics display controller included in this product has been tested and listed to comply with
FCC Class A by the manufacturer. To be compliant with FCC requirements, the congured system utilizing
the display and the graphics board must be tested by the integrator to ensure that the entire system
complies with FCC Class B.
* If, within 2 years of initial purchase, the maximum output of the Dome E4c display is determined by
Planar Systems to be less than 175 cd/m2, Planar will repair or replace the display at its sole discretion.
•Periodically clean the display housing
with a soft, dry cloth to prevent
clogging of the venting holes with
dust or other material.
• To remove grease or other organic
contaminants, use a 50% to 70%
IPA (isopropyl alcohol) solution
sparingly. Never use acetone on
the screen, as it can damage the
antistatic hard coating.
• The display screen can be damaged
by excessive scrubbing and by
incompatible cleaning solvents.
Dampen a clean, soft lint-free cloth
with distilled de-ionized water and
wipe the screen gently. Use a clean,
soft, dry lint-free cloth to remove
any residue.
