Rear Panel of ICA-500
LANSocket
Beside theDCpowerandvideooutputcable, theLAN socket isan RJ-45 connector for
connections to10Base-TEthernet or100Base-TX FastEthernet cabling. This Ethernetport built
NWayprotocolcan detect ornegotiate the transmissionspeed of thenetwork automatically.
Please use Category5 “straightthrough”cable toconnectthe ICA-500toa 100MbpsFast
Ethernet network switch or hub.
Alarm I/O Connector
The ICA-500 provides a terminal block with8pins ofconnectors located on the center of theback
panel.Thereare3pins for two alarm inputs and 5pins are foralarm output. The I/O connectors
are physical interface tosense and/or activatealarm signals toavarietyofexternalsensors or
alarms. Please refer tothe Appendix B inthismanual for more information.
FactoryDefault Reset
This buttonis hiddenin the pinholeabove the Alarm I/O connector.Please refer to theAppendix A
in this manualfor more information.
Microphone
The ICA-500 shas built-inan internal microphone.This microphoneisalsohiddeninthe pinhole
above the Camera.
Statusand10/100M Ethernet LEDs
LED stands forLight-Emitting Diode. TheStatus andEthernet LEDs arelocated on the right side
ofthe back panel of theICA-500. The Status LED willturn green while system is bootingup
successfully.

the ICA-500, the LED will be off andflash orange whilesome one accesses this ICA-500.
DC Powerand VideoOutput Cable
The DC power input and video outputcable is located on the ICA-500 s back panel.Theinput
poweris 12VDC. Note that supplythe power tothe ICA-500 withstandard poweradapter
includedin package.Otherwise, the improper poweradapter maydamage theunit and result in
danger.
The ICA-500 alsoprovides composite video output. User can useBNC videocabletoconnect the
ICA-500 with aTV monitoror VCR.

Hardware Installation
1.Fixthe ICA-500to Ceiling
Use 4 screws to fix theICA-500 onto the ceiling as below. You can also put the ICA-500 on the
table directly.
2.Plug anEthernetcable into ICA-500
Connect anEthernet cableto theLAN socket locatedon the ICA-500 sback paneland attachit to
the network.
3.Connecttheexternalpower supplyto ICA-500

Connect the externalpowersupplyto theDCpower connector attachedon the extensioncable
from the ICA-500. Note:use thepoweradapter, 12VDC,included inthe package andconnect the
otherendto walloutlet forAC power.
When you haveinstalled the ICA-500 well, thestatus LED willturn green. It means the system is
bootingupsuccessfully.Furthermore,if you havea propernetwork connection, and access tothe
ICA-500, the10/100M LAN LED willflash orange

Logging in to Homepage
Before Operation
Install theIP Addressof ICA-500
When you installed your ICA-500onyour LAN environment,you mayexecuteIPEditV3to
discover ICA-500 s IPaddress.
IPCam Finder Program (IPEditV3) is usedtoscantheInstalledICA-500,setting the ICA-500
Name, IPaddress settings.
Usingyour mouse toselect anyoneof the ICA-500swithinyour LAN environment, youcanfind
outits IPaddress andother IPparameters as follows:
1.Edit the NameofthisICA-500
2.UpdatetheIPaddress of thisICA-500.(192.168.0.20)
3.UpdatetheGatewayAddress.(0.0.0.0)
4.UpdatetheNetwork Mask (255.255.255.0)

5.Default HTTPPort1 numberis80.
6. ‘Submit it.
AfterSubmit, the IPinformation of this ICA-500 will be updated.
Install theICA-500 with anADSL Router
If theICA-500 wasinstalledontheLANwith anADSLrouter, thenthe ICA-500can get a
dynamicIPaddressfromtheDHCPserver.However,iftheICA-500wantstobeaccess
fromtheWAN, the ICA-500IP address needstobe setup as fixed IP,also theVirtual
Server function ofADSLrouterneeds tobesetup as follows:
1.Setupthe ICA-500 asFixedIP, suchas 192.168.0.20.
2.Enterthe administratorpageofADSLrouter.
3.Enterthe Virtual ServerPage.
a.Setupthe mappingof HTTPPort (80) to 192.168.0.20.
b.Restart theADSLrouter.
Then the ICA-500canbe access fromWAN bytheADSL WAN IPAddress.
First time using theICA-500
TheICA-500 webpage communicateswiththeICA-500usinganActiveXcontrol.The
ActiveX controlmustbedownloadedfromthe ICA-500 and installed onyour PC. Your
InternetExplorersecuritysettings mustallow fortheweb pagetoworkcorrectly.Touse
theICA-500,usermust setup his IE browser asfollows:
From yourIE browse è”Tools”è”Internet Options…” è”Security”è”Custom
Level…”,please setupyour “Settings”as follow.

Access the ICA-500 from the Internet Explorerforthe
first time
1. Starttheweb browser onthecomputer andtypethe IP address oftheICA-500you
want tomonitor as below:
The LoginWindowoftheICA-500 is displayed:
2. Type inyourloginnameand password under “USERNAME”and “PASSWORD”
textbox.
For thefirsttime use (default value),input the
UserName: admin
Password:
That s, typein “admin onthe “USERNAME”as adefaultnameandleavePASSWORD
textboxblank. Click “OK”buttonto startthe main menu.
Now,youlogin to theICA-500as afull-authorized administrator.Youcan enter
“Setting”to changethe passwordand setup “Administrator”or “User”authority.Please
referto “Setting”è“User”and “IPFilter”.

3. The IEWebPagewill displaythe “Security Warning”window,select “Yes”toinstall
and runtheActiveX controlinto your PC.

Forordinaryuser usage, “Setting”, “Trigger”,and “Capture”will benotavailable.On the
rightsideofthe screen, therearelots ofcontrolsandfunctionbuttons.Ifthe
administratorturnsoff “Remotecameracontrol”,then thosecontroland functionbuttons
willnotbe availableaswell.
Fortherestofthisuser guide,itis assumed thatthe “Remotecameracontrol”willbe
turnedonfornormaloperation.
Logging inas an Administrator
Ifyou logintheICA-500astheAdministrator, youcanperform allthesettingsprovided
withinthe software.The Administrator maybe loggedinat anytime,regardlessofthe
number oftheusers being accessed.
