INTRODUCTION
Awireless LAN is similarto aregularLAN, except
that you canshare informationwithout looking for a
RJ-45socketto plugin,and expandnetworks
without installingormoving wires. Basedonradio
frequency (RF)technology, awireless LANtrans-
mits and receivesdataover the air, along with the
guarantee toprovideprivacyandnoninterference
by the useof separateradiofrequency.
WL-3600 isthe perfect solutionfor yourwireless
network applicationsandbasedon the IEEE
802.11b standard offeringa data rate of 11Mbps in

Wireless Network Options
The Peer-to-Peer Network
This network installation lets yousetasmallwire-
less workgroup easily and quickly. Equippedwith
Wireless CompactFlash Cards or wireless PCI,you
cansharefilesand printersbetween each PCand
laptop.
Or you canuseonecomputeras an Internet
Server toconnect toawired global networkand
share filesandinformation with other PCs via a
wireless LAN.

The AccessPoint Network
Thenetwork installation allowsyoutoshare files,
printers, and Internet access much moreconven-
iently. WithWireless CompactFlash Cards, you
canconnect wireless LANto awiredglobal net-
work via an Access Point.

Software Installation
Connect yourPDAtoyourPC.Makesureyou
have the Microsoft ActiveSync Utility installedon
yourPC tomake an activeconnection.
Caution: DO NOT insert WL-3600intothe PDA
BEFORE installingtheconfigurationutility.
1. Insert the device driverCD intothe CD-ROM
drive.
2. Open E:\DRIVER\WL-3600\WINCE3.0 folder
where E is the CD-ROM drive.
3. Insidethe WINCE3.0 folder,click on Prism-
ForPocketCE.
For HandheldPC users:Pleaseselect Prism-
ForHandHeldCE.

Click Next tocontinue.
Click OK.
Click Finish.

You can nowinsert WL-3600 intothePDA.Then
usethe Settings on yourWindowsCEto
configurethe network settings.
Hardware Installation
Insert WL-3600 intothe Windows
CE-basedPDA byaligningthe Wireless
CF card toward the CF slot.

Network Connection
Once thedriverhasbeeninstalled,youmust
make some changes to your network settings.
1. Go to Start àSettings àConnections. Click
on Network Adapters.
2. Highlight PRISM 11Mbps Wireless LAN
Adapter, click Properties.

¤Useserver-assignedIPaddress
If yournetwork supports DHCP, select Use
server-assigned IP address. The IP address
and otherinformation will be automatically
assigned. Then click ok.
¤Usespecific IPaddress
If your network does notsupport DHCP, select
Usespecific IP address.You may need to
enterthe IP address and other information.
When you havefinishedenteringsettings,
click OK.

If you forget to click OK,yoursettingswill not
take effect!
Amessage asbelowmay appearsayingyou must
removeandre-insert WL-3600tohavethe
changes takeaffect. Click OK.

Configuration Utility
After installing WL-3600 sdriver
successfully,goto Start àPrograms.
Clickon PRISMSettings,the Network
Status icon will appear in the taskbar.

The Link tab provides you the status ofWL-3600.

WL-3600 with the wireless network.
Current Channel It displaysthe selected channelthatis
currentlyused.(Thereare14 channels
available, dependson the country.)
EnableRadio
/DisableRadio
Click thisbuttontoenable/disablethe
wireless radio.WL-3600 will con-
nect/disconnectwiththe wireless
network.
Rescan Search forall availablenetworks.
Clicking on thebutton,the device will
start torescan.
CurrentTxRateIt displaysthe current transfer rate.
Throughput It displaysthe transferring(Tx) and
receiving(Rx) datarateinbytesper
second.

name mustbeidenticalforalldevices
andpointsattempting toconnecttothe
samenetwork.The defaultname is
ANY.Tochange theNetworkName,
simply enter anew name inthe field.
NetworkType It displaysthe typeof BSS.
AccessPoint: allowsthe Adapterto
communicatewitha wired networkwhich
employing an Access Point.
Peer-to-Peer: allowsPC-to-PC,sta-
tion-to-station communicationwithout
employing an Access Point.
Peer-to-Peer
Channel
TocommunicatewithotherWireless
CompactFlashCard,youmustspecify
the same channel. Clicktheupand down
arrowatthe rightofthe Peer-to-Peer
Channeltoset the desired channel.
Transmit Rate It displaysthecurrenttransmitrate.
1Mb,2Mb,Auto1 or2Mb,5.5Mb,11Mb
or FullyAutomatic.
Default Clicksthe button torestoretothedefault
settings.
Undo Click Undotoignorethe previoussetting.
Apply Click Apply toactivatethe settings.
ok Click OK tosave your changes.
