Chapter 1
Introduction

to high-speed ADSL services. With our ADSLmodem,surfing on Internetis just
likedrivingasport car onthe Express Highway.Videoon Demand, Videoconfer-
ence and anyhigh-speedinternet applications is not a dreamanymore. Buta real-
ity!

Installation
HardwareInstallation
1. Makesure that your computer is switched off.Unplugthepower cord fromthe
wall socket. Also turn off all other peripherals youmayhaveattached to your
computer. Remove your computer cover
2. Select afree PCI slot.Remove thecover from the slot.Keepthescrew.Youwill
be using it in the next step.
3. Carefullyslidethe ADSLmodemintothechosenslot. Press firmlyon thetopof
the modemto seat it. Fasten the modemto your systemwiththescrew you re-
moved in the previous step.Replace the computer over.
4. Plugoneend ofthe phone cable intotheLinejackon your ADSL modem.The
other end ofthe phone cable should be connected directlyto the phone outlet.
5. Turn on your computer.
6. The “AddNew HardwareWizard”will bedisplayed. Insert thedriver CDandclick
Next.
7. Choose the “Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)”and
click Next.
8. Select the “CD-ROMdrive”,and “Specifyalocation”andclickBrowse.Then,
specifythe path which ADSL modemconnected yourcomputer to Internet, then
clickOK.
Driver Installation for both LAN and WAN mode with
Win 98
1. The “Add New Hardware Wizard”will be displayed .ClickNext.

2. Choose the “Automatic search for abetter driver (Recommended)”and click
Next.

3. Choose CD-ROM drive and Specifya location. Thenclick Next.
4. Click Next.

5. Click Finish to complete the installation.
Driver Installation for both LAN and WAN mode with
Win ME
1. The “Add NewHardwareWizard”will bedisplayedand choose Automatic
search for a better driver (Recommended).Click Next.

2. Pleasespecifythe path which ADSL modemconnected your computer to Inter-
net, thenclickOK.
3. Windows is installingdrivers for your new hardware. Click Finish.
Driver Installation for both LAN and WAN mode with
Win 2000
1. The “Add New Hardware Wizard”will be displayed andclick Next.

2. Choose the “Search for asuitabledriver formydevice (recommended)”,and
click Next.
3. Select the “CD-ROM drives”,thenclick Next.(Make sure you have inserted the
driver CD intotheCDROM drive.)

4. Windowswill find a driver for this device. Then click Next.
5. Windows is installingdrivers for your new hardware.

6. The “Digital Signature Not Found”will be displayed, Click Yes.

7. Click Finish to complete ADP-8301installation.
Driver Installation for both LAN and WAN mode with
Win XP
1. The “Add NewHardwareWizard”will bedisplayed.Choose Install from alist
or specific location (Advanced) andclick Next.

2. Choose “Search for thebest driver in these locations”,and Search removable
media (floppy, CD_ROM…)”, then click Next
3.”Conexant AccessRunner PCI Arbitration Device”will be displayedand click
Next.
4. under “Software Installation”window. Click “Continue Anyway”.

5. Under “Hardware Installation”window. Click “Continue Anyway”.

6. Click “Finish”to complete the “Found New Hardware Wizard”ofADP-8301.
Driver Installation for both LAN and WAN mode under
Win NT
1. Search and openfor the properlydriver files, e.g. D:\Conexant\ Winnt4\ chooses
LAN or WAN and run SETUP.

2. Ifthis massage appears, please install REMOTEACCESS SERVICES (RAS).
3. Click OK to complete theinstallation.
4. Clickthe Conexant AccessRunner ADSL icon,it will be displayedthe status of
the modem.
