Thisuser manual containsinstructionsto Polar H9 heart ratesensor.
Polar H9 isahigh quality heart ratesensor for your everyday sports. It comeswith thePolar Soft Strap and tracks
your heart rateaccurately. Polar H9 isideal with thePolar Beat app aswell asmany 3rd party apps: you can turn
your phoneinto a fitnesstracker easily. Further,Bluetooth®,ANT+™and 5 kHztechnologiesensureconnectionsto

WEARINGTHE HEART RATE SENSOR
1. Moisten theelectrodeareaof the strap.
2. Fasten the strap around your chest and adjust thestrap to fit snugly.

3. Attach theconnector.
Detach theconnector from thestrap and rinsethestrap under running water after everyuse.Sweat and moisture
maykeep theelectrodeswet and the heart ratesensor activated.Thiswill reducethetransmitter batterylife.

GETTINGSTARTED
Polar H9 heart ratesensor iscompatible with Bluetooth® and ANT+™devicesthat support heart rateservice. Asep-
arate application isrequired to view heart ratedataon the receivingdevice(for example,asmartphone). It isrecom-
mended to usethePolar Beat application but it isalso possibleto use other applications.
Notethat theH9transmitsyour heart ratesignal simultaneouslyvia Bluetooth and ANT+.You can turn off the
ANT+transmission from theBeat settingsunder HRsensor.
If you haveaPolar Flow account Polar Beat automatically synchronizesyour trainingfilesto it. Pleasenote that you
must sign in to your Polar Flow account when startingPolar Beat for thesynchronization to work.
When using the Polar H9 for the first time, you need to pair the heart rate sensor with your receiving
device. For more information on pairing, see the mobile application manufacturer's instructions.
Polar H9 heart ratesensor isalso compatible with Polar trainingcomputersusingGymLink (5 kHz)technology. For
more information,go to support.polar.com.
To ensuresufficient transmission rangefrom your Polar H9 heart ratesensor to thereceivingdevice,keep the
devicein front of you. Agood placeisin a front pocket or fixed on a belt. Do not wear thereceivingdevice on your
back (for example,in aback pocket or backpack).
PAIRING
PAIRWITH POLARBEAT
The heart ratesensor needsto be paired directly in thePolar Beat app.

To pair a heart ratesensor with Polar Beat:
1. Wear thesensor.
2. Open Polar Beat app on your Android or iOSdevice.
3. Go to thesettingssection of theapp and find HRsensor. When your sensor isfound,tap PAIR.
Notethat theH9transmitsyour heart ratesignal simultaneouslyvia Bluetooth and ANT+.You can turn off the
ANT+transmission from theBeat settingsunder HRsensor.
PAIRWITH APOLARWRIST UNIT
You need to wear thesensor when pairingit.
Check theuser manual of your Polar wrist unit at support.polar.com for specificpairinginstructions.
USINGYOUR HEART RATE SENSOR IN WATER
Polar H9 heart ratesensor iswater resistant. The GymLink technology can beused in water activities,but
Bluetooth® wirelesstechnology will not work in water. Pleasenoticethat seaand pool water are very conductive,
and electrodesmay short-circuit,preventing ECG signalsfrom beingdetected by theheart ratesensor.
When usinga bathingsuit,thebest performanceisachieved by wearingtheheart rate sensor underneath it.
FIRMWARE UPDATE
With thePolar H9 heart ratesensor,we’ll be ableto bringupdatesto your sensor to improveit or even bringnew
functionalitiesto it. You’ll beableto updatethe firmware viathePolar Beat or Polar Flow mobile app.
To receivethefirmwareupdates,your H9 heart ratesensor needsto bepaired with thePolar Beat or Polar Flow
app,Android or iOS. Theapp will let you know if there'san updateavailableand will guide you through it.

V650,M200,M600,Vantage M,VantageVor 3rd partyapp / device.Seeinstructions.
CARINGFOR YOUR HEART RATE SENSOR
The heart ratesensor isahigh-tech instrument that should be handled with care. Follow the caringinstructionsto
ensurereliablemeasurement and to maximize thelifespan of the heart ratesensor. Thefollowinginstructionswill
help you fulfill guaranteeobligations.
Connector: Detach theconnector from the strap after every useand dry the connector with asoft towel. Clean the
connector with amild soap and water solution when needed. Never usealcohol or any abrasivematerial (e.g. steel
wool or cleaningchemicals).

Strap: Rinse the strap under runningwater after every useand hangto dry. Clean thestrap gently with amild soap
and water solution when needed. Do not usemoisturizingsoaps,becausethey can leaveresidueon thestrap. Do
not soak,iron,dry clean or bleach thestrap. Do not stretch the strap or bend theelectrode areassharply.
Dry and store the strap and the connector separately to maximize the heart rate sensor battery life-
time. Keep theheart ratesensor in acool and dry place. Do not store the heart ratesensor wet in non-breathing
material,such asasportsbag,to prevent snap oxidation. Do not exposetheheart ratesensor to direct sunlight for
extended periods.
Check thelabelon your strap toseeif it ismachinewashable.Never put thestrap or the connector in a dryer!
BATTERIES
The battery level of your heart rate sensor isdisplayed on the receivingdevice.
All connectorshaveuser changeable batteries. To changethebattery yourself,follow the instructionsbelow.
1. Lever the battery cover open by using asmall flat-headed tool.
2. Removetheold battery from the battery cover.
3. Insert thenew battery (CR2025)insidethe cover with thenegative(-)sideoutwards.
4. Align the ledgeon thebattery cover with the slot on theconnector and pressthebattery cover back into
place. You should hear a snap.

When changingthebattery,makesurethesealing ringisnot damaged,in which caseyou should replaceit with a
new one.
You can purchase the sealingring/battery kitsat well-equipped Polar retailersand authorized Polar Services. In the
USAand Canada,the additional sealingringsareavailable at authorized Polar ServiceCenters. In theUSAthe sealing
ring/battery kitsarealso available at www.shoppolar.com.
Keep batteriesawayfrom children.If swallowed,contact a doctor immediately.Batteriesshould bedisposed of in
compliancewith local regulations.
