1. The Plug-in Test Card
The Plug-in Test Card, model 751366, is a monitoring device designed for use
with the Teleline/Fiberline multi-card shelf. It is not intended to be left
permanently installed inside the shelf, and so extends two inches beyond the
isolation cards to prevent the shelf cover from being closed.
Its features include the following:
•The card can be used as a lead extension when verifying the continuity of the
telephone lines. The card can be inserted into any shelf slot and provides
feed-through terminals for Station and Central Office (CO) side Tip and
Ring, and CO side Center Tap (CT) equivalence and remote ground.
•Panel jacks are provided for the Station side -24 V dc, -48 V dc, 130 V dc,
ring-up generator, and station ground.
•The Station side test points are directly below the Positron label.
•The LED’s on the faceplate provide a quick visual check of the power
available to the shelf. The LED’s will not illuminate if the polarity of the
input power is incorrect.
•In addition to permitting access to “Tip 1”and “Ring 1”, the card also
permits access to Tip “A”and Ring “A”. The card-edge connector
designation A/1 indicates that the tracks for Tip A or Ring A are on the
component side of the double-sided PCB, while Tip 1 and Ring 1 tracks are
on the solder side.
Note
•The designations “Tip 1”and “Ring 1”or “Tip A”and “Ring A”should
be interpreted as generic references to the terminals of any given shelf
slot. For example, the slot may actually be labeled Tip 3 and Ring 3
(third slot), or Tip J and Ring J (slot eight in the Eight-card Shelf
models).
•Under normal circumstances the connections to the CO are housed
within a non-metallic splice case, making it very difficult to access the
cable pairs. The Test Card greatly facilitates testing by providing access
to the pairs on both the Station and CO sides.

4 Plug-in Test Card
The following is a description of the elements of the Plug-in Test Card block
diagram.
Lead Extensions
The Plug-in Test Card provides direct Lead Extensions for:
•CO side Tip 1, Ring 1, Tip A, Ring A, CT equivalence, and remote ground.
•Station side Tip 1, Ring 1, Tip A, Ring A, -24 V dc,-48 V dc, RU GEN, and
station ground.
Window Comparators
The Window Comparators control the front panel LEDs. The LED status
indications are listed below.

130 V Detector
The 130 V Detector checks for a 130 V potential difference between the -48 V
(negative) and RU GEN (positive) lines.
Note
The Test Card will compromise the floating batteries (130 V or -48 V) and
will cause an alarm because it measures referenced to ground.
