INTRODUCTION
The 12V Red/Amber Magnetic Tow Light Kit attaches to any metal surface on a
vehicle or trailer. Magnets hold the lights in position while the vehicle is towed.
The tow lights come with a 20 ft wiring harness and connects to a vehicle’s
standard 4-way 12V power harness. The kit contains a 4-way connector with a 4
ft wiring harness to install in the towing vehicle.

WORK AREA
1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean, well-lit
and free of distractions. Place lights so you are not working in a shadow.
2. Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away from the
work area.
3. Store unused tools properly in a safe and dry location to prevent rust or
damage. Lock tools away and keep out of the reach of children.
4. Do not install or use in the presence of flammable gases, dust or liquids.
PERSONAL SAFETY
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by the Canadian
Standards Association (CSA) or American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
1. Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side protection
for the eyes. Eye protection equipment should comply with CSA Z94.3-07
or ANSI Z87.1 standards based on the type of work performed.
2. Wear gloves that provide protection based on the work materials or to
reduce the effects of tool vibration.
3. Wear protective clothing designed for the work environment and tool.
4. Non-skid footwear is recommended to maintain footing and balance in the
work environment.
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid
personal injury or damage to tool.

1. Do not operate any tool when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol
or medications.
2. Avoid wearing clothes or jewelry that can become entangled with the
moving parts of a tool. Keep long hair covered or bound.
3. Do not overreach when operating a tool. Proper footing and balance
enables better control in unexpected situations.
SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from
repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use
this tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.
1. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a specific function.
Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an unintended purpose.
2. Do not use the tool if any parts are damage broken or misplaced. Repair or
replace the parts.
3. Keep the wiring away from sources of heat, such as the exhaust system.
4. Make certain that the wiring will not rub against any moving components.
5. Securely attach lights to vehicle or the trailer before moving. Loose
lights are a traffic hazard.
6. Thoroughly test vehicle lights and tow lights before use.
7. Mount lights with the amber side facing forward and red side facing the rear.
8. Do not use on marine trailers (such as boat trailers). The lights and wires
are not waterproof.
9. Check the light’s position and function regularly when towing, especially on
rough, uneven surfaces or in windy conditions. The magnets may be
shaken loose under extreme circumstances.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING! Do not touch or handle a live tool with any part of your body that
is wet or damp. Wet skin reduces resistance to electrical current, increasing
the danger of a serious or fatal shock.
1. Disconnect tool from power source before cleaning, servicing, changing
parts/accessories or when not in use.

2. Protect yourself against electric shocks when working on electrical
equipment. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces. There is an
increased chance of electrical shock if your body is grounded.
3. Do not expose the tool to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
4. Do not alter any parts of the tool or accessories. All parts and
accessories are designed with built-in safety features that may be
compromised if altered.
5. Make certain the power source conforms to requirements of your
equipment (see Specifications).
6. When wiring an electrically driven device, follow all electrical and safety
codes, as well as the most recent Canadian Electrical Code (CE) and
Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS).
WARNING! All wiring should be performed by a qualified electrician.
UNPACKING
WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace the
missing part before operating. Failure to do so could result in a malfunction
and personal injury.
Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for damage.
Make sure that all items in the parts list are included.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Numbered references in parenthesis (#1) refer to the included Parts List.
INSTALLING THE VEHICLE’S CONNECTOR WIRING
These installation instructions are to connect the 4-way flat connector’s harness
to the vehicle’s electrical system.

Parts Required
• 4-way flat connector (vehicle end) with 4 ft wire harness.
• Tap-In Wire Splice x 4
WIRING COLOUR CODE
This is the wiring configuration of the 4-way Flat Connector (#23). Consult your
owner’s manual if vehicle has a different wiring colour code.
White: Ground
Brown: Running lights
Yellow: Left stop and tum lights
Green: Right stop and tum lights
INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT! If your vehicle has turn signals separate from the brake lights,
install an electronic turn signal converter above the splice.
1. Disconnect the vehicle battery to avoid a short circuit or an electrical
shock. See the vehicle owner’s manual for instructions.
2. Connect the yellow, green and brown wires of the wire harness connector
to the vehicle wiring using the wire splices.
a. Insert a wire (#22) fully into the wire splice’s
enclosed channel.
b. Place the splice around matching vehicle wire.
c. Close the splice cover and press firmly. This will
cut through the wire insulation of each, creating
an electrical connection.
d. Verify that all wires are held securely.
3. Attach the white wire of the 4-way flat connector to a grounded location on
the vehicle.
4. Connect the male and female 4-way connectors.
5. Reconnect the vehicle battery.
6. Test the brakes and turn signals to confirm the wiring is correct.

OPERATION
WARNING! Check the light position and function regularly when towing,
especially on rough or uneven surfaces. The magnets cannot hold the lights
to the vehicle in extreme circumstances. Loss of the tow light may result in
a vehicle accident.
SET UP
1. Clean the mounting locations on the vehicle, then clean the magnetic base
to remove any metal particles or debris that may have adhered. These
particles can damage the towed vehicle’s finish.
2. Set the lights on the back of the towed vehicle. The RED side of each light
must faces backwards. The light with the green wire is set on the
passenger side (right). The other light is set on the driver’s side (left). The
spacing between the lights cannot exceed 78 in.
3. Route the 20 ft wire harness from the lights along the towed vehicle or
trailer. Avoid sharp objects, tight corners and exposure to the elements.
Ensure the wires to each light will not contact the road or moving parts of
either vehicle. Ensure there is enough slack in the wires to prevent them
from binding during turns.
4. Plug the trailer 4-way flat connector (#18) into the towing vehicle’s 4-way
connector.
5. Start your towing vehicle and check the left, right and brake signals. You
may require assistance with this.
a. Check that the tow lights are on the correct side when testing the turn
signals. Switch them if they are the wrong side, taking care to follow
Step 3 when rerouting the wires. Check the signals again once they
are switched.
6. After towing is complete, disconnect the trailer 4-way flat connector.
Collect the wires carefully and in large loops to prevent kinking or damage.
7. Tilt each tow light onto one edge of the magnetic base, then lift upwards to
remove. Do not drag the tow light to remove, as this may damage the
vehicle’s finish.
8. Clean the tow lights with a damp cloth and store.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to
control and will have fewer problems.
2. Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or
worn components. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.
3. Maintain the tool’s labels and name plates. These carry important information.
If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.
WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An
improperly repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
BULB REPLACEMENT
1. Allow time for the burned-out bulb to cool.
2. Pry the lens covering off the light with plastic pry tool to prevent damage.
Metal tools may be used, but they can scratch or damage the tow light.
3. Press and twist the bulb counterclockwise to remove. Note the position of
the bulb’s pins when removing it.
4. Insert a new 12V/21/5W bulb into the socket with the pins in the
correct orientation.
5. Push down and twist clockwise to lock it in place.
6. Snap the lens back in place. Test the light to ensure proper operation
before use.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the tool does not function
properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a qualified technician
service the tool.
