INTRODUCTION
The Air Reciprocating Saw cuts through copper, sheet metal, aluminum and plastic.
SAFETY
WARNING! Read and understand all instructions before using this tool. The
operator must follow basic precautions to reduce the risk of personal injury
and/or damage to the equipment.
Keep this manual for safety warnings, precautions, operating or inspection and
maintenance instructions.
WORK AREA
1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean, well lit
and free of distractions.
2. Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away from the
work area.
3. Store tools properly in a safe and dry location. Keep tools out of the reach
of children.
4. Do not install or use in the presence of flammable gases, dust or liquids.
PERSONAL SAFETY
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by the Canadian
Standards Association (CSA) or American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
1. Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side protection
for the eyes. Wear a full-face shield if your work creates metal filings or
wood chips.
a. Eye protection equipment should comply with ANSI Z87.1 standards.
2. Wear gloves that provide protection based on the work materials or to
reduce the effects of tool vibration.
3. Non-skid footwear is recommended to maintain footing and balance in the
work environment.
4. Steel toe footwear or steel toe caps to prevent injury from falling objects.
5. Wear protective clothing designed for the work environment and tool.
6. Wear a NIOSH approved respirator when working on materials that
produce dust or particulate matter.

7. This tool can cause hearing damage. Wear hearing protection gear with an
appropriate Noise Reduction Rating to withstand the decibel levels.
8. The tool may contain high pressure. Use safety glasses and gloves for
protection during operation. Keep hands clear of the exposed rubber
portions of the hose.
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid
personal injury or damage to tool.
1. Do not operate any tool when tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medications.
2. Avoid wearing clothes or jewelry that can become entangled with the
moving parts of a tool. Keep long hair covered or bound.
3. Do not overreach when operating a tool. Proper footing and balance
enables better control in unexpected situations.
4. Support the workpiece or clamp it to a stable platform. Holding the
workpiece by hand or against your body may lead to personal injury.
5. Securely hold this tool using both hands. Using a tool with only one hand
can result in loss of control.
6. Keep your fingers away from the trigger/switch while carrying the tool,
attaching an air hose or an accessory. Lock the trigger/switch safety if available.
7. Avoid unintentional starts. Be sure that the regulator/throttle switch is in
the neutral or OFF position when not in use and before connecting it to
any air source.
8. Never point the air stream or tool at any point of your body, other people
or animals. Debris and dust ejected at high speed can cause an injury.
9. Serious injury or death may occur from inhaling compressed air. The air
stream may contain carbon monoxide, toxic vapors or solid particles.
Never inhale compressed air directly from the pump or air tool.
SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from
repeated use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use this
tool unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.
1. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a
specific function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for
an unintended purpose.

2. Accessories must be rated for at least the recommended strokes per
minute speed of the tool (see Specifications)
3. Keep hands away from cutting area and the blade. Keep both hands
securely on the saw.
4. Keep your body positioned to either side of the blade, but not in line with
the saw blade. Kickback could cause the saw to jump backwards.
5. Do not reach underneath the work piece while operating the saw.
6. Never hold a work piece being cut in your hands or across your leg. Secure
the work piece to a stable platform. It is important to support the work
properly to minimize body exposure, blade binding, or loss of control.
7. Stay clear of end pieces that may fall after cutting. They may be hot, sharp
and/or heavy. Serious personal injury may result.
8. Always handle the saw blade with care when mounting or removing it.
9. Do not start the tool when the blade is touching the work piece.
10. Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an
operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own
cord. Contact with a ‘live’ wire will also make exposed metal parts of the
power tool ‘live’ and shock the operator.
11. Always use blades that are designed to be used with this saw. Blades that
do not match the mounting hardware of the saw may be launched with
great force from the saw causing damage to property or personal injury. A
blade that does not match the mounting hardware may also run
eccentrically, causing loss of control.
12. After changing a blade or making adjustments, make sure that the blade
chuck is holding the blade securely.
13. Do not use dull or damaged blades.
14. Do not use the tool on any material containing asbestos.
15. Avoid cutting nails. Inspect the work piece for any nails and remove
before cutting.
16. Do not touch the blade or the surface that has been cut with this tool
immediately after use. The surface will be hot and may cause an injury.
AIR TOOL PRECAUTIONS
1. Use only clean and dry compressed air as a power source. Contaminated
or moist air will gradually damage the tool.

2. Install an in-line shutoff valve or regulator to allow immediate control over
the air supply in an emergency, even if a hose is ruptured.
3. Discontinue tool use if it does not work properly or air is leaking. Tag or
mark the tool as ‘defective’ or ‘out of service’ until repaired.
4. Check the manufacturer’s maximum pressure rating for air tools and
accessories. Compressor outlet pressure must be regulated to never
exceed the maximum pressure rating of the tool (see Specifications).
Exceeding the maximum PSI rating can create a bursting hazard, causing
injury and property damage.
5. Attach all accessories properly to the tool before connecting the air
supply. A loose accessory may detach or break during operation.
6. Never use oxygen, combustible gas or any other bottled gas as a power
source. Any power source other than an air compressor could cause an
explosion and serious personal injury.
7. Turn OFF the valve and discharge any remaining air pressure after each
use or before adjusting the tool.
8. Do not leave the air tool unattended with its compressed air supply on.
Turn off the compressed air supply and bleed the air tool of any remaining
compressed air before leaving the air tool unattended.
9. Serious injury may occur from loose debris being propelled at high speeds
from the compressed air stream. Always wear OSHA approved safety
glasses to protect the eyes during operation of the air compressor.
10. Always turn off the air compressor and drain tank pressure completely
before attempting maintenance or attaching air tools. Release pressure
slowly from the system.
11. Serious injury or death may occur from inhaling compressed air. The air
stream may contain carbon monoxide, toxic vapors or solid particles.
Never inhale compressed air directly from the pump or air tool.
AIR HOSE PRECAUTIONS
1. Inspect the tool's air hose for cracks, fraying or other faults before each
use. Discontinue use if the air hose is damaged or hissing is heard from
the air hose or couplers. Replace the defective air hose.
2. Do not allow people, mobile equipment or vehicles to pass over the
unprotected air hose. Position the air hose away from high traffic areas,
in a reinforced conduit or place planks on both sides of the air hose to
create a protective trench.

3. Prevent damage to the air hose by observing the following:
a. Never carry the tool by the air hose.
b. Keep the air hose behind the tool and out of the tool's work path.
c. Keep the air hose away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
d. Do not wrap the air hose around the tool as sharp edges may pierce
or crack the air hose. Gently coil the hose and either hang on a hook
or fasten with a device to keep hose together when storing.
4. A damaged or disconnected air hose under pressure may whip around and
inflict personal injury or damage the work area. Secure the compressor's
air hose to a fixed or permanent structure with clamps or cable ties.
KICKBACK PRECAUTIONS
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound or misaligned blade, causing
an uncontrolled tool to lift up and out of the workpiece toward the operator;
when the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the cut workpiece closing down,
the blade stalls and the motor reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the
operator. Kickback may result in loss of control of the tool leading to serious
personal injury, damage to the tool or workpiece.
Kickback can be avoided by taking proper precautions:
1. Maintain a firm grip on the tool and position your body and arms to allow
you to resist kickback forces. Kickback will propel the tool in the direction
opposite to the tool’s movement at the time of snagging.
2. Never place your hand near the blade. If kickback occurs, the blade may
pass over your hand and seriously injury you. Use clamps or a vice to hold
down the workpiece.
3. Use special care when working on corners, sharp edges etc. Corners, sharp
edges or bouncing have a tendency to snag the blade and cause loss of
control or kickback.
4. When the blade is binding, or when interrupting a cut for any reason,
release the trigger and hold the saw motionless in the material until the
blade comes to a complete stop. Never attempt to remove the saw from
the workpiece or pull the saw backward while the blade is in motion or
kickback may occur. Investigate and take corrective actions to eliminate
the cause of blade binding.
5. When restarting a blade in the workpiece, center the blade in the cut and check
that blade teeth are not engaged into the material. If saw blade is binding, it
may walk up or kickback from the workpiece as the saw is restarted.

6. Support large panels to minimize the risk of blade pinching and kickback.
Large panels tend to sag under their own weight. Supports must be placed
under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut and near the edge of
the panel.
7. To minimize the risk of blade pinching and kickback, when cutting
operation requires the resting of the tool on the workpiece, the tool
should be rested on the larger portion and the smaller piece cut off.
8. Use extra caution when making a ‘plunge cut’ into existing walls or other
blind areas. The protruding blade may cut objects that can cause kickback.
9. Only use blades designed for the tool. Do not use dull or damaged blades.
Unsharpened or improperly set blades produce narrow cuts causing
excessive friction, blade binding and kickback. Keep blades sharp and
clean. Gum and wood pitch hardened on blades slows the saw and
increases potential for kickback.
10. Never force the saw. Forcing the tool can cause uneven cuts, loss of accuracy,
and possible kickback. Push the tool forward at a speed so that the blade cuts
without slowing.
VIBRATION PRECAUTIONS
1. This tool vibrates during use. Repeated or long-term exposure to vibration
may cause temporary or permanent physical injury. Take frequent breaks
when using the tool.
2. If you feel any medical symptoms related to vibrations (such as tingling,
numbness, and white or blue fingers), seek medical attention as soon as
possible.
3. Wear suitable gloves to reduce the effects of vibration.
4. DO NOT use this tool before consulting a physician if one of the following
applies:
a. Pregnant
b. Impaired blood circulation to the
hands
c. Past hand injuries
d. Nervous system disorders
e. Diabetes
f. Raynaud's Disease
UNPACKING
WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace the missing
part before operating. Failure to do so could result in a malfunction and
personal injury.

Remove the parts and accessories from the packaging and inspect for damage.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
When this manual refers to a part number, it refers to the included Parts List.
INSTALLING AIR PLUG
Prepare a standard 1/4 in. NPT male air plug for use with your tool.
1. Wrap the external threads of the male air plug with sealant tape.
a. Wrap the tape in a clockwise direction so it will not unravel.
b. Do not tape all the threads. Leave several leading threads unwrapped
for easier alignment.
2. Screw the air plug into the tool's air inlet and tighten with a wrench until
snug.
3. Run the compressor at a low volume and check the connection for air
leaks. Do not use the tool until all air leaks are repaired or the faulty
component is replaced.
BLADE GUARD INSTALLATION
The air reciprocating saw comes with a long and
short blade guard. Select the blade guard that is
appropriate for the task.
1. To install or replace the blade guard (Fig. 1-
1), use the 2 mm hex key wrench (Fig. 1-2)
to loosen the set screws (Fig. 1-3).
2. Insert the blade guard (#34 or 50).
3. Tighten the set screws using the hex key wrench.

SAW BLADE INSTALLATION
1. Loosen the screw (Fig. 2-1) holding the
chuck cover (Fig 2-2) to the reciprocating
saw housing (Fig. 2-3).
2. Lift up the chuck cover.
3. Loosen one of the set screws (Fig. 3-2) on
the blade chuck (Fig. 3-5) with the 4 mm
hex key wrench (Fig. 3-3).
4. Install a new blade (Fig 3-4). Make sure the
blade is properly seated in the blade chuck.
5. Tighten the set screw on the blade chuck,
loosened in step 3, using the hex key
wrench. Make sure the blade is secure and
centered in the blade guard (Fig. 1-1)
6. Fasten the screw (Fig. 2-1) to fix the chuck
cover (Fig. 2-2) to the reciprocating saw
housing (Fig. 2-3).
OPERATION
1. Draw a guide line for cutting (if possible) on the workpiece.
2. Press the safety latch on the throttle lever (#13) forward while pressing
the throttle lever (#13) to begin operating the reciprocating saw. Allow the
saw to reach full speed before placing the blade onto the workpiece.
3. Cut your line. Let the reciprocating saw do the work. Do not place
unnecessary pressure on the reciprocating saw. Excessive pressure may
break the blade or stall the reciprocating saw, potentially causing damage
to the workpiece or personal injury.
4. When you have finished cutting your line, pull the reciprocating saw from the
workpiece and release the throttle lever (#13) to stop the reciprocating saw.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to
control and will have fewer problems.
2. Inspect the tool fittings, alignment, hoses and power supply cord periodically.
Have damaged or worn components repaired or replaced by an authorized
technician. Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.

3. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
4. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.
5. Keep the tool clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.
6. Maintain the tool’s labels and name plates. These carry important information.
If unreadable or missing, contact Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.
WARNING! Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An improperly
repaired tool may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
LUBRICATION
Only use air tool oil to lubricate the tool. Other lubricants may not be suitable
and could damage the tool or cause a malfunction during use.
1. It is very important that the tool be properly lubricated. Without proper
lubrication, the tool will not work properly and parts will wear prematurely.
Manually dropping a drop or two of air tool oil once a day into the tool's male
connector is better than using an automatic in-line lubricator, which should
only be required when there are multiple users of the same tool.
2. Apply a few drops of oil to the throttle lever (#13). Work the throttle lever
a few times to distribute the oil.
3. Keep the in-line lubricator filled and correctly adjusted. The in-line lubricator
should be regularly checked and filled with air tool oil. Proper adjustment of
the in-line lubricator is performed by placing a sheet of paper next to the
exhaust ports and holding the throttle open approximately 30 seconds. The
lubricator is properly set when a light stain of oil collects on the paper.
Excessive amounts of oil should be avoided.
4. Air tool oil is the only recommended lubricant for use in all air tools. Do
not try to use other types of lubricants to oil your tools. Using the wrong
lubricant will cause premature tool failure and / or loss of power. Use only
recommended lubricants, specially made for pneumatic applications.
Substitutes may harm the rubber compounds in the tool's O-rings and
other rubber parts.
5. Oiling your air tool regularly is important, but also is important not to
over-oil your air tool. Over oiling can cause premature tool failure. Your
tool may not be ruined, but it will begin to experience loss of power that
will continually get worse until it no longer works. The tool then has to be
taken apart and cleaned of excess oil.
6. All air tools are packed in grease to prevent corrosion of internal parts during
shipping and storage. We recommend that you clean this out to have

optimum performance from your new air tool. Use two drops of air tool oil to
lubricate the tool and run the tool under no load until exhaust is clear.
7. In the event that it becomes necessary to store the tool for an extended
period of time (overnight, weekend, etc.), it should receive a generous
amount of lubrication at that time. The tool should be run for
approximately 30 seconds to ensure oil has been evenly distributed
throughout the tool. The tool should be stored in a clean and dry
environment.
NOTICE! NEVER use a penetrating oil to lubricate the tool. Penetrating oil may
act as a solvent that can break down the grease and cause the tool to seize up.
STORAGE
When not in use for an extended period, apply a thin coat of lubricant to the
steel parts to avoid rust. Remove the lubricant before using the tool again.
DISPOSAL
Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Visit a Princess Auto Ltd. location for a solution if the tool does not function
properly or parts are missing. If unable to do so, have a qualified technician
service the tool.
