This easy to install, high quality Powerlet™ kit provides a convenient way to
access the battery on your motorcycle or AT . The operator can supply power
to the battery (i.e. battery charger), draw power from the battery (i.e. GPS), or
monitor the state of charge on the battery using the Powerlet socket.
Please read all of t e instructions carefully before attempting t e
installation of t is product. Please ave a trained professional install
t is kit if you are unfamiliar wit t ese procedures.
Quick Start Instruction:
STEP #1 Remove left side panel to expose the battery.
STEP #2 Mount the Powerbar™.
STEP #3 Route the wires.
STEP #4 Install the fuse.
STEP #5 Attach the tie-wrap & inspect.
STEP #6 Test & reassemble.
Detailed Instruction:
STEP #1 – Remove left side panel to expose the battery.
STEP #2 – To mount the Powerbar, first slip the lower half of Powerbar
housing over the cable and black boot. Pus t e w ite connector onto t e
back of t e Powerlet socket and slip on t e black boot before mounting
t e Powerbar. Now mount t e Powerbar on t e andlebars by wrapping
t e correct size sleeve around t e bar and installing t e two screws. The
thicker sleeve is used on the 7/8” bars and the thinner sleeve is used on the 1”.
STEP #3 – Start routing the wiring harness by attaching it to either the
factory wiring harness or the factory brake & clutch cables in front of the
handlebars [C]. Next, route the harness under the tank toward the battery.
Most batteries are under the seat, however some may be located behind a
panel at the front of the bike. Install Ty-wraps on the harness in about 12”
increments. Next remove the negative battery connection, followed by the
positive [A]. Connect the negative wire to a chassis bolt if possible [B]. If a
chassis bolt is not available, connect the wiring harness to the battery as
follows:
RED WIRE = BATTERY POSITIVE (First)
BLACK WIRE = BATTERY NEGATIVE (Second)
STEP #4 – Install the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and tuck the fuse
holder into a cavity near the battery and tie-wrap it to a stock wiring harness if
possible. Connect the black ground wire to the negative post.
STEP #5 – Do NOT allow t e arness to directly contact t e motor or
ex aust.
STEP #6 – Use a voltmeter to check if the polarity is correct. Replace the
side cover. Enjoy!
