This technical document aims to be a support guide in repairing and
low-voltage testing the Ottocanali HGT series power ampliers.
The troubleshooting approach will help you characterize the kind
of fault you incur. A recovery method and the related assembly
outline detail is thoroughly explained for the most common faults.
The components to be replaced are clearly shown to help their
identication. At the end of this guide you can nd a detailed
list with the description and the respective Powersoft internal
reference code of the spare parts.
Always use an anti-static wrist band while servicing the amplier.
This documentation contains proprietary information which is the

1. Display LED Configurations and further references
• Call: if pressed for 3 seconds, when connected to Armonía,
the amplier will show itself within the workspace. If pressed
for 3 seconds when the USB Pen Drive is inserted the Log
les will be copied to the pen drive.
• Soft Reset: if pressed for 3 seconds, it triggers Ethernet ports
and DHCP server reset.
• Hard Reset: if pressed for 3 seconds, it restores the DSP to
factory settings.
• FW Update: if pressed for 3 seconds it triggers the Firmware
update via USB (when present)
• SoftReset+HardReset: if pressed for 3 seconds, it resets the
rack unit to its factory settings.
• The amplier performs a reading of the TIVA, the LEDs slide
as depicted.

Layout
Locate the 2 screws highlighted on (Fig. 1) and remove
them by means of a PH1 Phillips head screwdriver.
Locate the 4 screws highlighted on (Fig. 2) and remove
them by means of a PH2 Phillips head screwdriver.
Repeat the operation on the other side.
Locate the 4 screws highlighted on (Fig. 3) and remove
them by means of a PH2 Phillips head screwdriver.

Layout
Locate and remove the 16 screws that secure the
module’s covers, by means of a PH1 phillips head
screwdriver. (Fig. 4)
Remove the fuses by gently pulling on the assembly. (Fig. 5)
It is now possible to lift the module’s covers.

4. Disassembling the DigiMod3004PFC4 Modules
The LEDs disposition and their meanings are portrayed
on (Fig. 6).
Please refer to the DigiMod PFC4 Service manual for in
depth repairing instructions.
Make sure that the amplier is now disconnected from
the mains power supply.
With a pair of needle pliers, gently unplug the connectors
marked in Green, Purple, and Yellow.
Locate the 8 screws that hold the modules in place,
and remove them by means of a PH1 Phillips Head
screwdriver.
The module(s) are now detached and it is possible to
carefully extract them from the Ottocanali’s chassis.

By means of a PH1 Phillips Head screwdriver, remove
the 3 screws that secure the 8CHHGT/STD/ANALOG
board.
Start by unplugging all the connectors marked in Green,
and Yellow.
By gently pressing on the indicated points, extract the
Brooklyn board.
Gently pry the EPROM off the CNTRL board, marked
light blue.
Cut the zip tie marked in Purple.
By means of a PH1 Phillips Head screwdriver, remove
the 5 screws that secure the 8CHHGT/STD/ANALOG
board. (Marked in Red)
Refer to the pictures when reassembling the board,
paying extra care in plugging the cable highlighted in
Green in the right direction.

Gently pry the backside of the amplier’s chassis open,
as portrtrayed on (Fig. 7).
Carefully lift the DSPETH Board by pinching the heatsink
as in (Fig. 8).

7. Disassembling the 8CHHGT/STD/FRONT
In order to disassble the front panel, remove both air lter
covers as portrayed on (Fig. 9).
These are held in place by a powerful magnet and no tool
is required during this operation.
By means of a 2mm Hex head screwdriver, remove the 4
screws highlighted on (Fig. 10).
It is now possible to remove the front led cover. (Fig. 11)
Use the 2mm Hex head screwdriver to remove the screw
that holds the magnet in place.
Use a M6 socketed screwdriver to remove the 4 bolts
highlighted on (Fig. 12).
It is now possible to gently remove the FRONT board.
Pro tip: dump the filters in a mild soap and water solution,
then rinse them out and dry them thoroughly.
If deemed necessary, replace the filters referring to the
repair kit list located at the end of this manual.

8. Disassembling the 8CHHGT/STD/CNTRL Board
Prior to removing the CNTRL Board it is necessary to
remove the FRONT Board.
Start by gently unplugging all the connectors highlighted
in yellow on (Fig. 13).
Proceed by unscrewing the screws and bolts highlighted
in light blue on (Fig. 13), with a combination of a PH1
phillips head and M6 socketed screwdrivers.
At this point it is possible to gently lift the CNTRL board
and disconnect the last 8 Micromatch connectors that
are still connected to the board. (Fig. 14)

9. Disassembling the Fans
In order to disassemble the fans, unplug the fan’s
connectors highlighted on (Fig. 15).
By means of a PH1 Phillips head screwdriver remove the
screws that secure the fans to the chassis. (Fig. 16)
It is now possible to remove the fans. (Fig. 17)
Pro tip: don’t worry about plugging the fan’s connector
in the right sequence, since no harm can be done to the
amp if these get swapped.
Just make sure that the polarity is correct!

Switch the unit off, let the capacitors discharge, and
proceed by replacing the factory SD Card with the
Recovery SD Card.
Switch the Amplier back on, and wait
The amplier will cycle all the steps involved in the
power up sequence, and it should stop showing the LED
conguration portrayed.
In order to update the Firmware via USB Pen Drive, a FAT32 formatted USB Pen Drive is required.
The USB Pen Drive is now Formatted and ready to accept the FW Update File.
Right click on the Pen Drive, select “Format” Select FAT32 from the dropdown menù Click on the indicated box and wait

All updates for the Ottocanali’s FW are stored within the Armonía Forum.
Navigate to http://www.powersoft-audio.com/en/downloads/rmware
Download the package, the name should appear as: update-v1.7.6.30-8ch.bin
Extract the compressed le and place it in the USB Pen Drive.
Plug the USB Pen Drive with the rmware update le in
the USB port in the front panel of the amplier.
Feedback of a properly congured USB Pen Drive is
given by a scrolling text on the front panel stating “USB”.

Switch the amplier on and wait for the completion of the
boot sequence.
Keep pressed the FW UPDATE pushbutton until the front
LED bars start blinking.
The update process lasts in 3-5 minutes. At the end the
system reboots and it is possible to extract the USB
storage device.
Place a FAT32 Formatted USB Pen Drive in the USB Port
on the Ottocanali’s front panel.
Wait until the front panel displays the scrolling “USB”
caption.
Press the “CALL” button for 3 seconds.
The amplier’s front panel should now display a series
of arrows.
Wait for these arrows to disappear and extract the Pen
Drive.
Place the USB drive in a PC, look for the le: LOG.CSV

15. Checking the Digi Board for Faults
This procedure involves checking the U61 and U27
regulators.
Be extremely cautious and make sure that the internal
capacitor’s bank is not charged.
Start by checking, with a multimeter set to Ohm, the
resistance between pin 1 and ground on the U61
regulator. As portrayed on (Fig. 18)
Proceed by checking between pin 7 and ground, as
portayed on (Fig. 19).

Move to U27, and check the resistance between pin 7
and ground, as in (Fig. 20).
Proceed by checking the resistance between pin 1 and
ground, as in (Fig. 21).
If the result of any of these tests is a short, please replace the DIGI Board.

Check the viability of the U27 regulator by probing
between pin 1,7 and the chassis (ground). (Fig. 22)
Pin 1 to ground: 12Vdc
Pin 7 to ground: 5 Vdc
Check the fans by connecting them to a dc Power
Supply, making sure not to invert the polarity.
Supply 12 Vdc and measure the absorption. (Fig. 24)
The absorption’s value should be 150 mA.
Check the viability of the U61 regulator by probing
between pin 1,7 and the chassis (ground). (Fig. 23)
Pin 1 to ground: 12Vdc
