Check the carton carefully for signs of rough
handling. Remove the machine from the carton. If the
machine is damaged, notify the carrier immediately
and request an inspection. Be sure to keep the carton,
packing inserts, packing lists and carrier receipt until
the inspector has verified your claim.
Southwest®Manufacturers’ liability ceases when
the shipment is picked up by the carrier, but our
customer service staff will be glad to furnish any
information needed in connection with the claim and
will expedite the repair of the machine.
Read the manual carefully and completely before
attempting to operate the unit. This manual has
important information for the use and safe operation
of this machine. Keep this manual handy at all times.
This machine will assure years of satisfactory service
if operated and maintained according to recommenda-
tions in the manual.
To protect your investment, promptly fill in the
required information on the warranty card included
with the unit. Then mail the card back.
■To avoid electric shock, do not expose to rain.
Store indoors.
■To avoid fire, do not use machine in environments
where combustible liquids, vapors or dust concen-
trations are present.
■Do not expose the machine to freezing tempera-
tures.
■Do not use this machine for totally dry vacuum-
ing. The PEB is not fitted with a fine dust filter.
■Do not use cleaning chemicals in this machine
except those recommended for steam type extrac-
tion equipment. The use of any chemical with
abrasive additives voids the warranty.
■Do not break off or pull out the grounding prong
on the plug.
■Do not attempt repair on a warranted machine
unless proper repair instructions by an authorized
shop are obtained from the factory.
■Do not use any replacement parts except those
specified on the parts list. Proper performance of the
machine could be affected if substitutions are made.
■Solution Lines and Fittings
Flush the machine at least once a month
with a solution of 1 part water to 3 parts
white vinegar in order to neutralize the
alkaline residue left by the cleaning solution.
■Vacuum Hose
Rinse out vacuum hose thoroughly prior
to storage.
■Rotational Brush
Remove string, carpet fiber and lint from
rotational brush to prevent circuit overload
(see back page for circuit breaker reset switch
illustration).
■Spray Jets
Inspect the spray jets for wear. Clean or
replace the jets if necessary.

Note: If solution hose male fitting is not
adaptable to your extractor, install

1. Turn on all vacuum and pump switches at the
extractor unit.
2. Turn on the PEB solution switch (1).
To Extract:
Guide Powr-Extractor Brush backwards, overlap-
ping each pass slightly, depressing either left or
right brush control lever (2) to apply solution,
rotationally brush and extract.
To Wet Vacuum and Brush:
To wet vacuum and brush only without applying
additional solution, place the solution switch in
the off position and depress either brush control
lever.
To Wet Vacuum Only:
Place solution switch in the off position. Operate
Powr-Extractor Brush without depressing either
control lever.
To Prespray:
Place solution switch in the on position. Tilt
Powr-Extractor Brush back while depressing
either brush control lever.
This Powr-Extractor Brush should be grounded while in use to
protect the operator from electric shock. This machine is equipped
with a 3-conductor cord and a 3-prong grounded type attachment
cap plug to fit the proper grounding type receptacle. The green (or
green and yellow) conductor in the cord is the grounding wire.
Never connect this wire to anything other than the grounding
blade.
The Powr-Extractor Brush is provided with an attachment cap
plug, as shown in Sketch A, and is intended for use on a nominal
120 volt circuit. If a properly grounded receptacle, as shown in
Sketch A, is unavailable, an adaptor, as shown in Sketch C, is
available and should be installed, as shown in Sketch B, if the out-
let box that houses the receptacle is grounded. Be sure to fasten the
grounding tap to the faceplate screw.
