Introduction
Please read this instruction carefully before operation and take
special care on safety prompts in this instruction so as to avoid
injury to people and objects, please make operation under the
guidance of instruction so as to avoid damage to the tool. Please
keep the warranty card handy for maintenance.
Introduction
The MS-551 Hot Knife is a professional grade hot cutting tool for
foamed plastics. The MS-551 Hot Knife heats up in seconds and
gives the operator temperature control. Never before has working
with foamed plastics been this easy, inexpensive and free of mess.
Recommended Use
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), Extruded Polystyrene (XPS),
Polyethylene, Cross-Linked Polyethylene, Polypropylenes, and
many other foamed plastics and materials can be easily cut with
MS-551 Hot Knife. Please check with the foam manufacturer for
safety and proper cutting procedures.

Blade Installation
NOTE: Always unplug cord of the MS-551 Hot Knife before
installing or removing the blades. Allow sufficient cooling time for
blades, blade holders and metal thumb wheels before handing.
Caution: The MS-551 blade has a sharpened razor edge, for the
cleanest cut always cut in the direction on the sharpened edge.
STRAIGHT BLADE:
1. Loosen the screws on the blade holders with the wrench.
2. Slide the blade under the square pressure plate until snug.
3. Securely tighten screws to assure the proper electrical
connection. Do not over-tighten.
4. Once the blade is firmly in place, plug in the MS-551 Unit into
a standard 220-240 volt power supply (or 110-120 volt as
appropriate).
5. The temperature control knob has 16 click settings that
correspond to the graduated ridges on the surface. The
smaller the ridge the lower the power setting.
6. Press the switch to use.

Caution: Excessive power output and heat generation may cause
the blade holders to overheat resulting in damage to the unit. Use
only the power output for proper cutting. The blade does not need
to be red hot to move through foamed plastics.
Operation
Put your temperature control knob at midrange setting, place the
blade against the edge of the foam and depress trigger. Optimum
cutting should be virtually smoke free.
NOTE: For the best results, practice on scrap pieces of foam.
When cutting foam it is best to keep the temperature and speed
consistent. If smoke develops during the cut, you are cutting too
slow or the blade is to hot which could result in an oversized,
uneven cut. This can be remedied by lowering the temperature and
intermittently releasing the trigger during your cut. As the cutting
resistance increases, depress the trigger again. The MS-551 Hot
Knife will reach the set temperature within seconds. You can
accomplish your cut with minimal smoke using this process.
Cutting in this manner will also prolong the life of the knife.
Releasing the trigger approximately one or two inches prior to the
completion of the cut will help keep the blade clean and free from

buildup. The selected cutting blade should not be longer than 3/4”
past the thickness of your foam board. The foam cools the blade as
it cuts. The exposed portion can overheat and cause your blade to
warp.
Warning:
Don’t press the trigger for a long time, in order to reduce the heat
transfer from blade to blade holder. High temperature will cause
deformation of the plastic and may cause injury to human body, we
highly recommend when pressing trigger for 15S, please release
it for 30s which will prolong the service life of the product
Caution:
Consult foam manufacturer’s MSDS sheet for flash points and
toxicity of material to be cut.
Always operate the MS-551 Hot Knife in well ventilated
space
Never burn off excess residue on the hot knife blade. The blades
will overheat, warping the blade and potentially overheating the
MS-551 Hot Knife.
Only operate MS-551 Hot Knife when it is in contact with the
insulation board.
Keep hot blades away from skin, clothing and other flammable
materials.
Allow blades to cool before handling. A hot blade may cause
injury or burns to exposed surfaces.
Maintenance
Constant use of the MS-551 Hot Knife may result in polystyrene
material build up on blades and the blade holders. This excess
polystyrene interferes with the proper electrical flow and impairs the
performance of the blades. The blade holders and blades can be
thoroughly cleaned with a wire brush.

For safe and proper working, always keep the ventilation slots
clean. Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with
household waste. Please recycle where facilities exist. Check with
your local authority or retailer for recycling advice.
The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of
experience and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with
the appliance.
Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste,
use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government
for information regarding the collection systems available.
If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps,
hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into
the food chain, damaging your health and well-being.
When replacing old appliances with new ones, the retailer is legally
obligated to take back your old appliance for disposals at least free
of charge.

刀片安装：
请拔掉MS-551电热刀电源线再安装或拆卸刀片。需要足够的刀片冷

注意：MS-551有锋利的刃口，为干净的切割请装配时锋利的刀刃用
于工作面。
安装刀片
1．用扳手松开刀片夹座的螺钉
2．插入刀片压入夹座到底部
3．拧紧固定螺钉以确保可靠的电气连接，也不要过紧
4．刀片装配后MS-551插头插入到标准220-240伏电源
5．温度控制旋钮有16个位置设置，对应于表面上的刻度，较小的
刻度对应较低的功率设置
6．按开关使用
注意：过大的输出功率和热量可能会造成操作者伤害或损坏切割物。
请使用适当功率输出进行切割，刀片是红色的时候请不要切割发泡塑
料
操作
把你的温度控制旋钮设置在中档，将刀片对泡沫的边缘接触。最佳
切割状态应该是几乎无烟雾，
注：为了最好的切割结果，请事先在泡沫碎片上试验

当切割泡沫时，最好保持温度和速度一致，如果在切割过程中有烟雾
的产生，是切割速度太慢或刀片过热，这可能会导致切割效果不良，
可以通过降低温度和间歇释放扳机来调节，随着切削阻力的增加，再
次按压开关来加温。电热刀会在几秒钟内达到设定温度。你可以用这
个过程来完成切割，从而产生用最少的烟雾。以这种方式切割也将能
延长刀具的寿命，在切割完成之前约1~2英寸时释放扳机，将有助于
保持刀片清洁;
所选的切割刀片不应超过3 / 4的泡沫板厚度，刀片接触泡沫部分会冷
却，暴露的部分刀片会过热，导致你的刀片扭曲
警告：
不要长时间按压扳机，以减少刀片上的温度传导到刀片夹座，高温会
引起塑料外壳的软化变色，可能会造成一定的人身伤害，按压15S/
放开30S，能更好延长产品使用寿命。
注意：
请咨询泡沫制造商的MSDS表闪点和毒性物质成分，请在通风良
好的空间操作MS-551电热刀
切勿在电热刀上遗留过多的剩余物。残留物燃烧会引起刀片过
热，损坏刀片。
操作电热割刀当它与保温板接触时，请远离皮肤，衣服和其它
易燃材料。

操作完成需待刀片冷却，热刀片可能会导致受伤或烧伤暴露表
面。
维护：
电热割刀长时间使用可能会导致聚苯乙烯材料附着在刀片和夹
座上，过量的聚苯乙烯会干扰产品电器特性，损害刀片性能，
需用钢丝刷彻底清洗刀片及夹座
为安全和正确的工作，请始终保持通风和清洁
废旧电子产品不应与生活垃圾一起处理，回收设施的地方，请
根据您的当地授权厂商或零售商建议回收
该产品不适合（包括儿童），身体感官残疾的或精神能力低下，或缺
乏经验和知识的人使用，除非他们已被监督或有使用设备由专人对他
们的安全负责，孩子们应该受到监督以确保他们不玩耍电器产品。
不要把家用电器作为未分类的垃圾收集设施，请使用单独的收集设

任何因自然磨损、超负荷工作而引起的损坏。
超过保固期限检修，虽未更换零件，将依本公司保固条款酌收工时服务
费用。
