1. Technical
This carbon monoxide detector only shows the presence of carbon monoxide
gas in the vicinity of the sensor. Carbon monoxide gas may also be present in
other places. For this reason, to best protect your family you should fit various
detectors in your home.

IMPORTANT
This detector has a working life of 10 years. You should replace the detector after
this period. If your detector stops working properly during its 10-year lifespan,
you should replace it immediately.
IMPORTANT: This device is designed to protect persons from the acute eects
of exposure to carbon monoxide. This device does not provide full protection to
suerers of a specific condition. If in doubt, consult a doctor.
Low CO concentration warning: When CO concentration is greater than 30PPM
for a duration of more than 60 minutes, or when CO concentration is greater
than 40PPM for a duration of more than 40 minutes, low CO concentration
warning will be made.
Quit alarm condition: When CO concentration is below 40PPM, the alarm will
terminate automatically.
Power indicator: Flashes about every 45 seconds.
Fault warning: When a fault occurs, fault warning will be given within 3 minutes.
Suitable place: Domestic premises.
- This is not a smoke detector! This carbon monoxide detector has been
designed to detect carbon monoxide gas (CO). It is NOT designed to detect
smoke, fires or other gases.
- This carbon monoxide detector has been approved for use in homes. It is
NOT designed for maritime use or for use in caravans.
- The pause function is solely for your convenience and does not solve
carbon monoxide problems. You should have your home checked for
potential problems every time that carbon monoxide is detected. If you fail
to do this, this can lead to injuries or even death.
- If your carbon monoxide detector emits an alarm, never ignore this.
- This product is intended for use in specific areas in your home or housing
unit. People with medical problems which make them more sensitive to CO
may decide to use warning devices which have visual and audio alarms for
carbon monoxide concentrations of below 30ppm. Contact your doctor for
further information.
- This product is not designed for use in a camper van or mobile caravan.

3. Information indication

4.LCD information

I. Power-up
When batteries are installed, a power-up prompt will be given. It indicates that
the power supply is normally connected, and the indicator lights and buzzer are
working normally. The LCD display shows ”EN”.
This product has battery compartment with red battery pin. Use 3 replaceable AA
LR6 alkaline batteries. Battery life is at least 3 years. The detector will be powered
on after 3 AA/LR6 batteries are installed. Press the red battery pin and install the
batteries according to the polarity marks in the battery compartment.
If the power-up prompt complies with contents of previous table and LCD
messages, it means the buzzer and indicator lights are working normally. The
detector will enter normal operation within 20 to 30 seconds after powering up.
The detector must be powered on in clean air without carbon monoxide. Other-
wise, alarm warning may be given immediately.
This carbon monoxide detector REQUIRES BATTERIES to work. It will not provide
protection if the batteries are removed or not replaced in time.

II. Battery level
When the detector is in normal operation, the Power indicator flashes every 45
seconds. If low concentration of CO is detected but alarm has not been trig-
gered, the interval will be less than 45 seconds. The LCD display shows battery
level all the time.
III. Low voltage warning
When the voltage is less than 3.6V, low battery warning will be given at least
once every minute. The LCD display shows condition D as specified.
IV. Fault warning
If there is fault in the sensor or circuit, fault warning will be given within 3
minutes. Fault warning will be made at least once every minute until the fault is
eliminated. The LCD display shows “Err” when fault warning is given.
V. End-of-Life warning
When the detector has been working for about 10 years, end-of-life warning will
be given. The product cannot be used any more. The LCD display shows “End”
when end-of-unit-life warning is given
VI. Alarm warning
The alarm response time of this detector complies with EN50291. In alarm
condition, at least three cycles of alarm will be made, and the interval between
each cycle will be less than 10 seconds. The alarm will terminate automatically in
6 minutes when CO disappears.
VII.Alarm silence
When the detector is in alarm condition and the CO concentration is less than
200 PPM, press and hold the TEST button to silence the alarm. Alarm silence
condition is the same as alarm condition except the buzzer doesn’t beep tempo-
rarily. The Alarm indicator still flashes. Alarm silence condition lasts less than 10
minutes. Press the TEST button in alarm silence condition, to go back to Alarm
condition.
VIII.Low CO concentration warning
When CO concentration is greater than 30PPM for a duration of more than 60
minutes, or when CO concentration is greater than 40PPM for a duration of
more than 40 minutes, low CO concentration warning will be made every 3 to
5 minutes. The low CO concentration warning is distinctly dierent from alarm
warning !
IX. Testing
When the detector is in normal operation, press the TEST button and testing will
be conducted. If the detector is in alarm condition, it will enter alarm silence
condition.

5. Operating characteristics
I. Normal operation
The detector will enter normal operation within 20 to 30 seconds after powering
up. The Power indicator flashes every 45 seconds. When there is CO in the air,
the Power indicator flashed every 30 seconds. The Fault indicator and Alarm
indicator are o.
High or low temperatures, high levels of humidity, heavy jolts or falls may harm
the digital display.
IMPORTANT: This carbon monoxide detector is designed for indoor use only.
Do not expose to rain or moisture. Do not submerge the device in liquid, as this
poses a risk of electrocution or malfunction.
II. Alarm
The alarm response time of the detector complies with EN50291. The alarm
won’t stop until CO concentration is lower than 40PPM. Put the detector in
clean air, the alarm will terminate automatically in 6 minutes, or you can quit
alarm condition by pressing and holding the TEST button for 1 to 3 seconds.
Important:
When you hear successive beeps, it means high concentration of CO. You and all
the personnel shall leave the dangerous site at once and seek help.
III. Low CO concentration warning
In daily life, low levels of carbon monoxide can often occur. For example,
cigarette smoking, burning candle and gas-burning appliances can produce low
concentrations of CO. Although it may do no harm to normal people, prolonged
exposure to low levels of CO can impair the health of vulnerable groups such
as children, pregnant women, elderly or patients. This warning is to help these
people avoid prolonged exposure to low levels of CO. If you press and hold the
TEST button and still hear beeps, the CO concentration may be more than 200
PPM. In this case, you cannot silence the alarm. When the detector is in alarm
silence condition, press and hold the TEST button until you hear beeps, then it
will recover alarm condition.
IMPORTANT: When sanding, stripping, wallpapering, or using adhesives/aerosols,
remove the CO detector. This is to prevent damage to the sensor.
6.Fault warnings and handling
I. Sensor fault warning and handling
If there is fault in the sensor or circuit, fault warning will be given within 3 min-
utes. Fault warning will be made at least once every minute until the fault is elim-
inated. When fault warning is given, there may be open circuit or short circuit
in the sensor. Or there may be electronic damage. Volatile gas like ethyl alcohol
may aect the sensor and cause temporary fault. In this case, please replace the
product with a new one. Then power o the damaged unit and put it in clean
air for 24 hours, and it will return to normal. If the unit can’t recover after being
placed in clean air for 24 hours, that means permanent damage.
Warning:
When the alarm is damaged permanently, please stop using it. Don’t repair it
jourself or send to the service point that is not authorized by the manufacturer.
II. Low battery warning and handling
When the detector is in normal operation, battery capacity is checked every
minute. When the voltage is less than 3.6V, low battery warning will be given,
the LCD display will show condition D. When low battery warning commenc-
es, batteries are only capable of giving low battery warning for one month, or
giving alarm warning for a few minutes. Replace the AA/LR6 batteries as soon as
possible.
Remove the PIN from the mounting plate buckle,
Remove the old batteries, and insert the new
batteries. Test the device accordingly before fixing
it back on the mounting plate.

When fixing the detector back on the mounting
plate do not forget to lock the device on the
mounting plate, by inserting the PIN back in to
the buckle.
Important:
When you hear one beep every minute and a low battery warning appears on
the LCD display, please replace the AA/LR6 batteries immediately. Otherwise, the
detector may not work properly.
III. End-of-life warning
This product has a service life of 10 years. After power-up, the product starts
timing and when it reaches 10 years the unit will give end-of-life warning. You
have to replace the product when this warning is given.
End-of-life warning will be made at least once every minute. If the detector is
powered on or o frequently, it may cause timing error. So please don’t power
on or o the detector frequently. And please often check the product’s manu-
facturing date, to see whether it has expired.
Important:
When you hear three quick beeps at intervals, it means end of unit life. Please
replace the product with a new one immediately.
IV. Alarm silence
When the detector is in alarm condition and the CO concentration is less than
200 PPM, press and hold the TEST button to silence the alarm. Alarm silence
condition is the same as alarm condition except the buzzer doesn’t beep tempo-
rarily. The Alarm indicator still flashes. Alarm silence condition lasts less than 10
minutes. Press the TEST button in alarm silence condition, to go back to Alarm
condition.
7. Installation
V. Location
Install the products in bedroom and living areas. You can also install them in
the places where CO leakage might occur, respecting below installation points.
To make sure people can hear the alarm from all sleeping area, we suggest you
install this product on each level of your home.
To avoid causing damage to the product, to prevent false alarm and to provide
optimum performance, do not install the unit in the following places:
- Do not install the unit in enclosure space (such as in the kitchen cabinet or
behind the curtain).
- Do not install the unit in the obstructive place (such as behind the
furniture).
- Do not install the unit on the floor or in the water channel.
- Do not install near the door and window.
- Do not install near fan or air conditioner.
- Do not install near the vents or flues.
- Do not install in areas where the temperature can easily decrease to -10°C
or exceed 40°C, unless you especially need to install like this.
- Do not install in areas where there are a lot of lampblack and dust which
will block up the sensor.
- Do not install in too damp areas.
- Do not install near kitchen wares or cooking equipment.
- Do not install within 6 metres of your central heating boiler or other
sources of heat that burn fuel, or appliances such as a kettle.
- Do not install the device in a the garage, near the exhaust port of motor
vehicles. Because when your car starts, high concentration of CO will be
discharged and the temporary CO that will not kill lives may cause the
alarm.
- Place out of the reach of children. When handled by children the sensor
could get damaged.
IMPORTANT: Carbon monoxide is almost as light as air and spreads easily
through rooms and houses. Position the CO detector at around 1.5m above the
ground, not lower!
Only install a carbon monoxide alarm on inside walls. In a bedroom it should be
fitted at ‘sleeping height’ and in a living room at ‘seated height’. Place the CO
detector at eye level, for optimum monitoring.
The alarm must be fitted at least 15 cm from any outside walls and at least 30 cm
from ventilation supply and extraction points.

Never fit the carbon monoxide alarm on the ceiling !!!
VI. Installation instructions
Install the unit where it’s easy for the user to test and operate. For wall mounting,
the height of installation position should be more than 1.5m. The unit should be
at least 0.3m from the ceiling and 1.5m away from a corner, wall side or large
furniture. Follow below installation steps :
- Remove the mounting plate
and line it with the wall in the
position that you have chosen
for installation. Mark the holes
with a pencil dot.
- Make two holes (6mm diameter,
40mm depth) on the marked
spots.
- Remove the Buckle PIN from the
mounting plate.
- Insert the two plastic anchors
into the drilled holes. Secure
the mounting plate to the wall
upwards.
- After making sure the mounting
plate is secured to the wall,
power on the detector
according to previous intruction
and test it. If the test result is
normal, then slide the alarm
down over the mounting plate
until it snaps into place.
- Insert the PIN in to the buckle
holder to lock the mounting
plate on the device.
Note : The detector cannot snap into place until the batteries are installed cor-
rectly. Please don’t force to install in avoidance of damage.
In order to ensure the product is correctly installed and used, it should be
installed strictly according to this user manual or be installed by qualified
professionals.
8.Maintenance
I. Alarm by other gases
The following gases make cause false alarm or damage the sensor:
Methane, propane, isobutane, ethylene, ethanol, alcohol, isopropanol, benzene,
toluene, ethyl acetate, hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide. Almost
all the Aerosol spray, alcoholica, paint, thinner, solvent, binder, hair spray, after-
shave,perfume, car exhaust (cold start) and some cleaning detergents.
When the product is exposed to the gases mentioned above, it may make false
alarms or be damaged permanently. When alarms are activated and you smell
irritating gas, it may be false alarm because CO is colorless and odorless.
Put the product in clean air, if it’s still in alarm condition 30 minutes later, then
that means the product has been polluted. You should place the power-o unit
in clean air for a long time. If the product can’t recover 24 hours later, then it
means the sensor has been damaged. Please don’t use the product any more.
Warning:
When the alarm is damaged permanently, please stop using it. Don’t repair it
jourself or send to the service point that is not authorized by the manufacturer.
II. Cleaning and maintenance
The product must be kept clean when used, or its performance will be influ-
enced and even may cause damage to the alarm. It shall be cleaned and tested
once a month in the following way :
- Remove dust with vacuum cleaner.
- Rub the surface with wet soft cloth which has been wringed out.
- Press the TEST button and make sure the detector woks properly, then
reinstall it to use. Don’t clean the alarm with chemical like alcohol, petrol,
cleanser, etc., or it may cause damage to the alarm.
Important:
Clean the product once a month. Don’t clean the alarm with chemical cleanser.

III. Maintenance tips
- Do not spray chemical aerosol like air freshener, hairspray, perfume,
insecticide or spray paint near the alarm.
- Do not paint the CO alarm. If you need to paint the wall and floor, please
put the alarm into a clean plastic bag first. After the smell has been fully
volatilized, install the alarm again.
- Do not block up or cover the alarm’s venthole with paste adhesive or other
things.
- If the detector falls on the floor, pick it up to check whether the battery
is fixed well. After making sure the battery is installed well, press the TEST
button again to see if the functions run well before installing it again.
The detector has been calibrated before leaving the factory. If you dismantle it
without permission and change any component or software, it may cause false
alarm or malfunction. Don’t dismantle or modify any component or program.
9. What to do upon CO alarm detection
IV. General carbon monoxide information
Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas which can cause people to
die and will engender when any combustible material burns. When burning
the combustible material in the limited room, higher concentration carbon
monoxide will be engendered. When people absorb a certain amount of carbon
monoxide, they will die. Now many countries’ Consumer Product Safety Com-
missions have warned the public the harm of fatal family poison gas and make
the carbon monoxide poison as the first public safety problem.
V. Possible sources of carbon monoxide
In home, carbon monoxide may be engendered from heating and burning
equipment, such as stove, water heater, fireplace, charcoal-burning grill, natural
gas furnace, heating devices, microgenerator and so on. Vehicles running in
attached garages can also produce CO.
When these devices are in well-ventilated condition or in normal working condi-
tion, the amount of carbon monoxide will be little and discharged quickly with-
out doing harm to people. But when there is lack of oxygen or the burning is not
sucient, or the devices have problems, high concentration carbon monoxide
will engender. Because the ventilation is not good, and the carbon monoxide is
not given o quickly, the high concentration carbon monoxide will be accumu-
lated to the extent that will harm people’s health.
Warning:
The product only indicates the presence of carbon monoxide, and warns people
to deal with the situation or leave. It cannot prevent CO from occurring.
VI. Symptoms of CO poisoning
- Common mild symptoms: Slight headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue.
- Common medium symptoms : Headache, drowsiness, confusion, fast heart
rate.
- Common severe symptoms : Convulsion, unconsciousness, cardio-
respiratory failure, braininjury, death.
Young children and the elderly may be more vulnerable. Please pay attention to
high-risk persons because they may experience a more dangerous situation at a
certain level.
If you experience even mild symtoms of CO poisoning, please consult your
doctor immediately!
VII.Actions to take when an alarm sounds
As carbon monoxide can kill your lives, please take the following actions if the
product alarms:
- Stop using all fuel-burning appliances and ensure that they are turned o.
Open doors and windows quickly. Turn on ventilation and exhaust systems.
- Make sure all the people move to fresh air immediately. Call emergency
service for help. Don’t reenter the premises until the alarm stops and
remains in normal condition.
- Get medical help for anyone suering the eects of carbon monoxide
poisoning.
- If the alarm reactivates within 24 hours, repeat above steps and call a
qualified appliance technician to investigate sources of CO from fuel
burning equipment and appliances, and to check if ventilation and exhaust
system is working properly. If problems are identified during the inspection,
stop using the equipment immediately. Let qualified appliance technician
repair it.

10. Limited warranty
Eltra nv guarantees that this product (excluding the battery) is free of material
and manufacturing defects when used normally for a period of 2 years from
purchase. This period starts on the original purchase date.
Eltra nv is not bound to replace or repair the product in the case of damage due
to poor maintenance, improper use or modifications or changes made after the
purchase date.
Neither can Eltra nv be held responsible for any damage or losses suered,
including accidents or resulting damage that is directly or indirectly the conse-
quence of a defect in this product. Never repair this product yourself if it appears
faulty. This will invalidate the guarantee. If the product becomes defective in the
period mentioned it will be replaced free of charge.
Take any defective appliance together with the original receipt back to the shop
where the appliance was sold. Always include a note describing the problem.

BELANGRIJK

- Dit is geen rookmelder! Deze koolmonoxidemelder is ontworpen om
koolmonoxidegas (CO) te detecteren. Hij is NIET ontworpen om rook,
brand of andere gassen te detecteren.
- Deze koolmonoxidemelder is goedgekeurd voor gebruik in
gezinswoningen. Hij is NIET ontworpen voor maritiem gebruik of gebruik in
caravans.
- De pauzefunctie is er enkel voor uw gemak. U kunt er
koolmonoxideproblemen niet mee laten verdwijnen. U moet uw huis
op mogelijke problemen laten controleren telkens er koolmonoxide
gedetecteerd wordt. Doet u dat niet, dan kan dat tot lichamelijke letsels
leiden en zelfs tot de dood.
- U mag een alarm van uw koolmonoxidemelder nooit negeren.
- Dit toestel is bedoeld voor gebruik in specifieke ruimtes van uw huis of
wooneenheid. Mensen met medische problemen die hen gevoeliger maken
voor CO, kunnen overwegen waarschuwingstoestellen te gebruiken die al
een visueel en auditief alarm geven bij koolmonoxideconcentraties onder
30 ppm. Neem contact op met uw arts voor meer informatie.
- Dit toestel is niet ontworpen voor gebruik in een kampeerwagen of
caravan.
- De melder moet door een daartoe bevoegd of gekwalificeerd persoon
geïnstalleerd worden.

4.Lcd-informatie
Dit bericht verschijnt als het toestel
ingeschakeld wordt. Daarna wordt
hier het batterijniveau weergegeven.
Het batterijniveau wordt in 4 grada-
ties aangeduid:
A) Voldoende
B) Normaal
C) Laag
D) Lege-batterijwaarschuwing. Ver-
vang onmiddellijk de batterijen.
Het lcd-display toont de CO-concen-
tratie in ppm.
Bij een CO-concentratie van minder
dan 10 ppm staat er 0 ppm.
Bij een CO-concentratie van meer
dan 550 ppm verschijnt ‘Hco’.
Als de CO-concentratie meer dan 550
ppm bedraagt, verschijnt dit bericht.
Verlaat onmiddellijk de kamer.
Als u op de TEST-knop drukt en de
test aan de gang is, wordt dit bericht
getoond.
Dit wijst op een fout of storing. Dat
kan betekenen dat het toestel een
storing vertoont of dat het batterijni-

I. Bij het opstarten
Als de batterijen geplaatst zijn, wordt een inschakelprompt gegeven. Die geeft
aan dat de stroomvoorziening normaal aangesloten is en dat de indicatorlampjes
en buzzer normaal functioneren. Op het lcd-display verschijnt ‘EN’.
Dit toestel heeft een batterijvak met een rode batterijpin. Gebruik 3 vervangbare
AA LR6-alkalinebatterijen. De batterijen hebben een levensduur van minstens 3
jaar. De melder wordt ingeschakeld zodra de 3 AA/LR6-batterijen geplaatst zijn.
Druk op de rode batterijpin en plaats de batterijen volgens de polariteitsaandui-
dingen in het batterijvak.
Als de inschakelprompt overeenstemt met de inhoud van voorgaande tabel en
de lcd-berichten, functioneren de buzzer en indicatorlampjes normaal. Binnen
20 tot 30 seconden nadat de melder ingeschakeld is, begint hij normaal te
werken. De melder moet in zuivere lucht zonder koolmonoxide ingeschakeld
worden. Anders wordt mogelijk onmiddellijk een alarmwaarschuwing gegeven.
Deze koolmonoxidemelder heeft BATTERIJEN NODIG om te werken. Hij biedt
geen bescherming als de batterijen verwijderd zijn of niet tijdig vervangen
worden.
De melder moet in zuivere lucht zonder koolmonoxide ingeschakeld worden.
Anders wordt mogelijk onmiddellijk een alarmwaarschuwing gegeven.
II. Batterijniveau
Bij een normale werking knippert de stroomindicator van de melder om de 45
seconden. Als een lage CO-concentratie gedetecteerd wordt maar het alarm
nog niet geactiveerd is, bedraagt dat interval minder dan 45 seconden. Op het
lcd-display is altijd het batterijniveau te zien.
III. Waarschuwing lage spanning
Bij een spanning van minder dan 3,6 V wordt minstens een keer per minuut een
lege-batterijwaarschuwing gegeven. Het lcd-display geeft voornoemde status D
aan.
IV. Waarschuwing bij storing
Bij een storing in de sensor of het circuit wordt binnen 3 minuten een storings-
waarschuwing gegeven. Een storingswaarschuwing wordt minstens een keer per
minuut herhaald tot de storing verholpen is. Op het lcd-display verschijnt ‘Err’ als
een storingswaarschuwing wordt gegeven.

V. Waarschuwing einde levensduur
Als de melder ongeveer 10 jaar in werking is, wordt een einde-levensduurwaar-
schuwing gegeven. Het toestel kan dan niet meer worden gebruikt. Als een ein-
de-levensduurwaarschuwing gegeven wordt, verschijnt op het lcd-display ‘End’.
VI. Alarmwaarschuwing
De alarmresponstijd van deze melder is conform EN50291. In alarmstatus gaat
het alarm minstens drie keer af en bedraagt het interval tussen elke cyclus min-
der dan 10 seconden. Het alarm wordt na 6 minuten automatisch beëindigd als
de CO verdwenen is.
VII.Stille alarmstatus
Als de melder zich in alarmstatus bevindt en de CO-concentratie ligt lager dan
200 ppm, kunt u de TEST-knop indrukken en ingedrukt houden om het alarm te
dempen. De stille alarmstatus is gelijk aan de alarmstatus, met dat verschil dat
de buzzer tijdelijk niet piept. De alarmindicator blijft wel nog steeds knipperen.
De stille alarmstatus duurt minder dan 10 minuten. Druk in de stille alarmstatus
op de TEST-knop om terug te keren naar de alarmstatus.
VIII.Waarschuwing lage CO-concentratie
Als de CO-concentratie meer dan 60 minuten hoger ligt dan 30 ppm of meer
dan 40 minuten hoger dan 40 ppm, wordt er om de 3 tot 5 minuten gewaar-
schuwd voor een lage CO-concentratie. De waarschuwing bij een lage CO-con-
centratie verschilt duidelijk van de alarmwaarschuwing!
IX. Test
Als u bij een melder in normale werking op de TEST-knop drukt, wordt een test
uitgevoerd. Bij een melder in alarmstatus wordt hiermee overgegaan naar de
stille alarmstatus.
5. Werkingskenmerken
I. Normale werking
Binnen 20 tot 30 seconden nadat de melder ingeschakeld is, begint hij normaal
te werken. De stroomindicator knippert om de 45 seconden. Als er CO in de
lucht aanwezig is, knippert de stroomindicator om de 30 seconden. De storings-
en alarmindicator lichten niet op.
Bij hoge of lage temperaturen, een hoge vochtigheidsgraad, hevig schokken of
vallen, kan het digitale display beschadigd raken.
BELANGRIJK: Deze koolmonoxidemelder is louter ontworpen voor gebruik
binnenshuis. Stel hem niet bloot aan regen of vocht. Dompel het toestel niet
onder in vloeistof omdat dan een risico op elektrocutie of storingen ontstaat.
II. Alarm
De alarmresponstijd van de melder is conform EN50291. Het alarm stopt pas als
de CO-concentratie lager is dan 40 ppm. Plaats de melder in zuivere lucht. Het
alarm stopt automatisch na 6 minuten. U kunt ook uit alarmstatus gaan door de
TEST-knop 1 tot 3 seconden ingedrukt te houden.
Belangrijk:
Opeenvolgende pieptonen wijzen op een hoge CO-concentratie. Uw personeel
en uzelf moeten de gevarenzone dan onmiddellijk verlaten en hulp zoeken.
III. Waarschuwing lage CO-concentratie
Lage koolmonoxideniveaus komen in het dagelijkse leven wel vaker voor. Siga-
rettenrook, brandende kaarsen en toestellen met gasverbranding bv. kunnen
tot lage concentraties CO leiden. Dat is mogelijk niet meteen schadelijk voor
de gewone mens, maar langdurige blootstelling aan lage CO-niveaus kan wel
de gezondheid van kwetsbare groepen schaden. Denk daarbij aan kinderen,
zwangere vrouwen, ouderen of zieken. Deze waarschuwing is bedoeld om deze
mensen te helpen langdurige blootstelling aan lage CO-niveaus te vermijden.
Als u de TEST-knop indrukt en ingedrukt houdt en nog steeds pieptonen hoort,
kan de CO-concentratie meer dan 200 ppm bedragen. In dat geval kunt u het
alarm niet dempen. Als de melder zich in stille alarmstatus bevindt, drukt u de
TEST-knop in en houdt u hem ingedrukt tot u pieptonen hoort, waarna naar de
alarmstatus wordt teruggekeerd.
BELANGRIJK: Haal de CO-melder weg tijdens schuur-, strip- en
behangwerkzaamheden of als u lijmen/aerosols gebruikt. Zo voorkomt u schade

aan de sensor.
6.Storingswaarschuwingen en hoe ermee om te gaan
I. Storingswaarschuwing sensor en hoe ermee om te gaan
Bij een storing in de sensor of het circuit wordt binnen 3 minuten een storings-
waarschuwing gegeven. Een storingswaarschuwing wordt minstens een keer
per minuut herhaald tot de storing verholpen is. Bij een storingswaarschuwing
kan er sprake zijn van een open circuit of een kortsluiting in de sensor. Mogelijk
is er elektronische schade. Een vluchtig gas zoals ethylalcohol of ethanol kan
de werking van de sensor beïnvloeden en een tijdelijke storing veroorzaken.
Vervang het toestel in dat geval door een nieuw exemplaar. Schakel de bescha-
digde unit vervolgens uit en zet hem 24 uur in zuivere lucht. Hij zal nadien weer
normaal functioneren. Als de unit zich na 24 uur in zuivere lucht niet herstelt, is
hij permanent beschadigd.
Waarschuwing:
Stop met het alarm te gebruiken als het permanent beschadigd is. Repareer
het niet zelf en stuur het niet naar een servicepunt dat niet door de fabrikant
goedgekeurd is.
II. Waarschuwing bij lage batterijspanning en hoe ermee om
te gaan
Bij een normale werking van de melder wordt het batterijvermogen om de
minuut gecontroleerd. Bij een spanning van minder dan 3,6 V wordt een lege-
-batterijwaarschuwing gegeven. Het lcd-display toont dan status D. Zodra de
lege-batterijwaarschuwing gegeven is, kunnen batterijen nog slechts een maand
diezelfde lege-batterijwaarschuwing geven en maar enkele minuten een alarm-
waarschuwing. Vervang de AA/LR6-batterijen zo snel mogelijk.
Verwijder de PIN van de clip van de montageplaat.
Haal de oude batterijen eruit en plaats de nieuwe
batterijen. Test het toestel dienovereenkomstig
voor u het weer op de montageplaat bevestigt.
Vergeet niet het toestel opnieuw op de monta-
geplaat vast te zetten door de PIN terug in de
clip te voeren wanneer u de melder weer op de
montageplaat bevestigt.
Belangrijk:
Vervang onmiddellijk de AA/LR6-batterijen als u om de minuut een pieptoon
hoort en op het lcd-display een lege-batterijwaarschuwing verschijnt. Anders
functioneert de melder mogelijk niet goed.
III. Waarschuwing einde levensduur
Dit toestel heeft een levensduur van 10 jaar. Na het inschakelen begint het
toestel te timen. Als het de 10 jaar bereikt, geeft het een waarschuwing dat het
einde van de levensduur bereikt is. U moet het toestel vervangen als u deze
waarschuwing krijgt.
De waarschuwing voor het einde van de levensduur wordt minstens een keer
per minuut gegeven. Als de melder vaak in- of uitgeschakeld wordt, kan dat tot
een fout in de timing leiden. Schakel de melder dus niet regelmatig in of uit.
Controleer ook op geregelde tijdstippen de fabricagedatum van het toestel om
te controleren of de levensduur nog niet verstreken is.
Belangrijk:
Als u drie snelle pieptonen met intervallen hoort, betekent dit dat de unit het
einde van zijn levensduur heeft bereikt. Vervang het toestel onmiddellijk door
een nieuw exemplaar.
IV. Stille alarmstatus
Als de melder zich in alarmstatus bevindt en de CO-concentratie ligt lager dan

200 ppm, kunt u de TEST-knop indrukken en ingedrukt houden om het alarm te
dempen. De stille alarmstatus is gelijk aan de alarmstatus, met dat verschil dat
de buzzer tijdelijk niet piept. De alarmindicator blijft wel nog steeds knipperen.
De stille alarmstatus duurt minder dan 10 minuten. Druk in de stille alarmstatus
op de TEST-knop om terug te keren naar de alarmstatus.
7. Installatie
I. Locatie
Installeer de toestellen in slaap- en woonvertrekken. U kunt ze ook installeren
op plaatsen waar zich CO-lekken kunnen voordoen mits u rekening houdt met
onderstaande punten over de installatie. Om er zeker van te zijn dat mensen
het alarm in alle slaapruimtes kunnen horen, raden we u aan dit toestel op elke
verdieping van uw huis te installeren.
Om schade aan het toestel te voorkomen, valse alarmen te vermijden en opti-
maal te functioneren, mag de unit niet op de volgende plaatsen geïnstalleerd
worden:
- Installeer de unit niet in een afgesloten ruimte (bv. in een keukenkast of
achter een gordijn).
- Installeer de unit niet op een plaats die een obstructie vormt (bv. achter
meubels).
- Installeer de unit niet op de vloer of in een watergoot.
- Installeer de unit niet in de buurt van deuren en ramen.
- Installeer de unit niet in de buurt van ventilators of
airconditioningsystemen.
- Installeer de unit niet in de buurt van ventilatieopeningen of
rookafvoerkanalen.
- Installeer de unit niet in ruimtes waar de temperatuur gemakkelijk tot -10°C
kan dalen of boven 40°C kan stijgen, tenzij een specifieke installatie dit
noodzakelijk maakt.
- Installeer de unit niet in ruimtes met veel lampzwart (roet) en stof die de
sensor kunnen verstoppen.
- Installeer de unit niet in te vochtige ruimtes.
- Installeer de unit niet in de buurt van keukenapparatuur of kookuitrusting.
- Installeer de unit niet binnen 6 meter van uw centraleverwarmingsketel
of andere op brandstof werkende warmtebronnen of apparaten zoals een
waterkoker.
- Installeer de unit niet in een garage, in de buurt van de uitlaat van
motorvoertuigen. Als u uw wagen start, komt er een hoge concentratie CO
vrij. Dat tijdelijke gehalte CO zal geen levens eisen, maar kan wel een alarm
veroorzaken.
- Hou buiten het bereik van kinderen. Kinderen kunnen de sensor
beschadigen als ze hem in handen krijgen.
BELANGRIJK: Koolmonoxide is bijna zo licht als lucht en verspreidt zich heel
eenvoudig door kamers en huizen. Plaats de CO-melder op zo’n 1,5 m boven de
grond, niet lager!
Installeer een koolmonoxidemelder enkel tegen binnenmuren. In een slaap-
kamer moet hij op ‘slaaphoogte’ aangebracht worden, in een leefruimte op
‘zithoogte’. Plaats de CO-melder op ooghoogte om hem optimaal in de gaten te
kunnen houden.
Het alarm moet op minstens 15 cm van de buitenmuren en op minstens 30 cm
van de ventilatietoevoer- en afzuigpunten bevestigd worden.
Bevestig een koolmonoxidemelder nooit aan het plafond!!!
II. Installatie-instructies
Installeer de unit op een plaats die de gebruiker gemakkelijk kan bereiken om het
toestel te testen en te bedienen. Bij een wandmontage moet de installatiehoogte
hoger dan 1,5 m liggen. De unit moet minstens 0,3 m van het plafond verwijderd
zijn en 1,5 m van een hoek, de zijkant van een muur of grote meubelstukken.
Volg de onderstaande stappen voor de installatie:
- Verwijder de montageplaat en
lijn deze uit met de muur in de
positie die u voor de installatie
hebt gekozen. Markeer de gaten
met een potlood.
- Maak twee gaten (6 mm
diameter, 40 mm diep) op de
gemarkeerde plaatsen.
- Verwijder de PIN uit de clip van
de montageplaat.

- Steek de twee plastic pluggen
in de geboorde gaten. Bevestig
de montageplaat opwaarts aan
de muur.
- Nadat u zich ervan verzekerd
hebt dat de montageplaat
aan de muur is vastgemaakt,
schakelt u de melder in en
test u hem overeenkomstig de
voorgaande instructies. Bij een
normaal testresultaat schuift
u het alarm omlaag over de
montageplaat tot het op zijn
plaats vastklikt.
- Steek de PIN in de houder van
de clip om de montageplaat op
het toestel vast te zetten.
Opmerking: De melder kan enkel op zijn plaats vastklikken als de batterijen cor-
rect geïnstalleerd zijn. Forceer niets bij de installatie om schade te voorkomen.
Om er zeker van te zijn dat het toestel correct geïnstalleerd is en gebruikt kan
worden, moet het strikt volgens deze gebruikshandleiding geplaatst worden of
door gekwalificeerde professionals.
8.Onderhoud
I. Alarm door andere gassen
De volgende gassen kunnen een vals alarm veroorzaken of de sensor beschadi-
gen:
Methaan, propaan, isobutaan, ethyleen, ethanol, alcohol, isopropanol, ben-
zeen, tolueen, ethylacetaat, waterstof, waterstofsulfide en zwaveldioxide. Bijna
alle aerosolsprays, alcoholica, verf, thinner, oplosmiddel, bindmiddel, haarlak,
aftershave, parfum, uitlaatgassen van auto's (koude start) en sommige schoon-
maakmiddelen.
Als het toestel aan bovengenoemde gassen blootgesteld wordt, kan het een vals
alarm geven of permanent beschadigd raken. Als u bij een alarm een irriterend
gas ruikt, kan het om een vals alarm gaan vermits CO kleurloos en reukloos is.
Plaats het toestel in zuivere lucht. Als het 30 minuten later nog steeds in alarm-
status is, is het toestel gecontamineerd. U moet de uitgeschakelde unit dan lange
tijd in zuivere lucht plaatsen. Als het toestel zich 24 uur later nog niet hersteld
heeft, is de sensor beschadigd. Gebruik het toestel dan niet meer.
Waarschuwing:
Stop met het alarm te gebruiken als het permanent beschadigd is. Repareer
het niet zelf en stuur het niet naar een servicepunt dat niet door de fabrikant
goedgekeurd is.
II. Reiniging en onderhoud
Het toestel moet tijdens het gebruik ervan proper gehouden worden. Anders kan
het minder goed gaan presteren en kan het zelfs beschadigd raken. U moet het
een keer per maand op de volgende manier reinigen en testen:
- Verwijder stof met een stofzuiger.
- Wrijf het oppervlak proper met een natte zachte doek die u uitgewrongen
hebt.
- Druk op de TEST-knop en controleer of de melder naar behoren
functioneert. Installeer hem dan opnieuw voor gebruik. Maak het alarm niet
proper met chemische producten zoals alcohol, benzine, reinigingsmiddel
enz. Die kunnen het alarm beschadigen.
Belangrijk:
Reinig het toestel een keer per maand. Maak het alarm niet proper met een
chemisch reinigingsmiddel.
III. Onderhoudstips
- Verstuif geen chemische aerosols zoals luchtverfrisser, haarlak, parfum,
insecticide of verfspray in de buurt van het alarm.
- Schilder niet over het CO-alarm. Plaats het alarm eerst in een propere
plastic zak als u muren en vloeren moet verven. Installeer het alarm pas
terug als de geur volledig vervlogen is.
- Blokkeer of bedek de ventilatieopening van het alarm niet met een
plakmiddel of andere zaken.
- Raap de melder op als hij op de grond valt om te controleren of de

batterijen nog goed vastzitten. Als u er zeker van bent dat de batterijen
goed bevestigd zijn, drukt u nogmaals op de TEST-knop om te zien of de
functies goed werken voor u het toestel weer installeert.
De melder wordt gekalibreerd voor hij de fabriek verlaat. Als u hem zonder
toestemming demonteert en wijzigingen aanbrengt aan onderdelen of software,
kan dat tot een vals alarm of storingen leiden. Demonteer of wijzig geen enkel
onderdeel of programma.
9. Wat te doen bij een CO-alarm?
I. Algemene informatie over koolmonoxide
Koolmonoxide is een kleur- en reukloos gas dat dodelijk kan zijn en vrijkomt bij
elke verbranding van brandbaar materiaal. Als u brandbaar materiaal verbrandt in
een beperkte ruimte ontstaat een hogere concentratie koolmonoxide. Mensen
sterven als ze een bepaalde hoeveelheid koolmonoxide opnemen. In heel wat
landen hebben de nationale Commissies voor de Veiligheid van Consumen-
tenproducten het grote publiek al gewaarschuwd voor dit giftige gas dat hele
gezinnen fataal kan worden. Koolmonoxidevergiftiging is er tot een prioritair
probleem voor de openbare veiligheid uitgeroepen.
II. Mogelijke bronnen van koolmonoxide
In huis kan koolmonoxide vrijkomen uit verwarmings- en verbrandingstoestellen,
zoals kachels, boilers, open haarden, houtskoolgrillen, aardgasfornuizen, verwar-
mingsapparatuur, microgenerators enz. Draaiende voertuigen in aangebouwde
garages kunnen ook CO produceren.
Als deze toestellen zich in een goed geventileerde omgeving bevinden of in
normale staat verkeren, blijft de hoeveelheid koolmonoxide gering en wordt die
ook snel afgevoerd zonder schade te berokkenen aan mensen. Bij een gebrek
aan zuurstof, onvoldoende verbranding of problemen met een toestel, zal er
echter een hoge concentratie koolmonoxide ontstaan. Omdat er niet goed
geventileerd wordt en de koolmonoxide niet snel wordt afgevoerd, hoopt deze
hoge concentratie koolmonoxide zich op tot een niveau dat schadelijk is voor de
gezondheid van mensen.
Waarschuwing:
Dit toestel wijst enkel op de aanwezigheid van koolmonoxide en waarschuwt
mensen dat ze iets aan de situatie moeten doen of de ruimte moeten verlaten.
Het kan niet voorkomen dat er CO ontstaat.
III. Symptomen van CO-vergiftiging
- Veelvoorkomende milde symptomen: lichte hoofdpijn, misselijkheid,
braken, vermoeidheid.
- Veelvoorkomende symptomen bij middelmatige blootstelling: hoofdpijn,
slaperigheid, verwardheid, hoge hartslag.
- Veelvoorkomende ernstige symptomen: stuiptrekkingen, bewusteloosheid,
cardio-respiratoire insuciëntie (hart- en ademhalingsfalen), hersenletsel,
overlijden.
Jonge kinderen en ouderen kunnen kwetsbaarder zijn. Besteed extra aandacht
aan personen met een hoog risico, omdat zij op een bepaald niveau in een ge-
vaarlijkere situatie kunnen terechtkomen.
Raadpleeg onmiddellijk uw arts als u zelfs maar lichte symptomen van CO-
vergiftiging waarneemt!
IV. Te ondernemen acties bij een alarm
Omdat koolmonoxide fataal kan zijn, moet u de volgende stappen ondernemen
als het alarm afgaat:
- Stop met alle op brandstof werkende toestellen te gebruiken en controleer
dat ze uitgeschakeld zijn. Open snel deuren en ramen. Schakel ventilatie-
en afvoersystemen in.
- Breng alle mensen onmiddellijk de buitenlucht in. Bel de hulpdiensten.
Betreed het pand pas opnieuw als het alarm stopt en in normale status
blijft.
- Zorg voor medische hulp voor iedereen die symptomen van
koolmonoxidevergiftiging vertoont.
- Als het alarm binnen de 24 uur opnieuw afgaat, herhaalt u bovenstaande
stappen en belt u een gekwalificeerd technicus om de CO-bronnen van
op brandstof werkende apparatuur en toestellen te onderzoeken en om te
controleren of het ventilatie- en afvoersysteem correct functioneert. Stop
onmiddellijk met het gebruik van de apparatuur als tijdens de inspectie
problemen worden vastgesteld. Schakel een gekwalificeerd technicus in
voor de reparatie.
