PRYME NANO-99A
Audio Accessory Kit with “SMART” PTT Button
for Smartphones and Tablets
The NANO is a revolutionary wired microphone kit with a removable earphone, for use
with Smart Devices running many different Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) apps.
Version 1.00 AUGUST 2018
BATTERY LIFE
The NANO uses one CR2032 coin cell type battery. A single battery can provide up to two full years or more of
operating time. However, operating time can vary depending on the usage cycle and the age and condition
of the battery. At the end of the battery's lifetime, it is necessary to replace the battery with a new one.
NOTE: The NANO has a sleep mode which is used to preserve battery life. This sleep mode will engage When
the power switch is turned to the "ON" position and a long period of time goes by without the Smart PTT
button being pressed. While sleeping, the power consumption of the NANO is greatly reduced. To preserve
battery life even longer, it is recommended that you turn the NANO’s power switch to the off position when
you are not using it.
The battery is internal, but can be replaced using only a jeweler's/eyeglass
screwdriver. To change the battery:
1. Remove the 2 small Phillips head screws on the rear of the NANO using
a jeweler's/eyeglass screwdriver. Separate the two halves of the housing.
2. Locate the remove the 2 small Philips head screws
which secure the PC Board of the NANO inside the housing.
3. Carefully remove the PCB from the housing and flip
it over to reveal the battery holder. Be careful not to
damage the wire leads that connect the PCB to the
microphone element or cabling.
4. Remove the old battery from the battery holder. A ball point pen can be used
to push the battery out of the holder if needed.
5. Insert a new CR2032 3-volt coin cell battery into the battery holder, observing
proper polarity.
The positive side of the battery (marked with a “+” sign) should face away from
the circuit board.
6. Reseat the PCB and reinstall the 2 Phillips screws. Take care not to crimp any
of the wires between the PCB and housing.
7. Reseat the two halves of the housing and reinstall the 2 screws to secure it in place.
NOTE: If you are unable to perform the battery replacement yourself, battery replacement
service is available from PRYME for a flat fee. Contact PRYME Support for further details.
BUILT-IN MICROPHONE
When using the NANO with a listen-only earphonem, this microphone is used for making

accessory with a microphone is connected to the NANO, the accessory microphone will
be used instead.)
CLOTHING CLIP
The alligator-type clip secures the
NANO to the lapel of the user’s
clothing during use. The clip can be
rotated to allow the microphone to
be better positioned.

Allows the connection of an earphone or
an Apple®-compatible wired audio
accessory that contains both an

POC App Setup
The NANO is compatible with most PTT Over Cellular apps and in most cases no setup is needed. Just
connect the NANO kit to your smart device, sign into your POC app, and make sure that Power Switch
on the NANO is set to the ON position!
All of the following apps work with the NANO including Zello, Wave Communicator, KODIAK
Networks app (such as AT&T EPTT and Verizon PTT Plus), ES Chat, ZINC, VOXER and many more.
As long as your POC app supports using the Headset Hook button for Push-to-Talk or Toggle-to-Talk,
the NANO should work!
Using the NANO
When the NANO is connected to your smart device:
• Media audio, phone audio and PTT app audio will be heard through the NANO’s earphone.
• As long as the power switch on the NANO is set to the ON position, you can make a PTT Over Cellular
call by pressing the holding the Smart PTT Button on the NANO.
• You can make or take a phone call by using the controls on the screen of your smart device.
• You can answer an incoming phone call, or hang up a call in progress, by pressing the Headset Hook
button on the NANO.
• If you have a listen-only earphone plugged intio the NANO's accessory jack, when you make a phone
call or PTT Over Cellular (PoC) app call,, the sound of your voice will be picked up by the NANO’s
built-in microphone. You should speak slowly and clearly with the microphone positioned
approximately 6 inches away from your mouth. If you have an accessory that includes both an
earphone and a microphone plugged into the NANO's accessory jack, then the accessory microphone
will be used instead.
• You can press and hold the Headset Hook button on the NANO to launch your smart device’s voice
assistant feature.
To connect an audio accessory, simply plug the audio accessory into the accessory jack on the NANO.
Make sure that the connector on the audio accessory is pushed all the way into the jack and seats firmly.
TROUBLESHOOTING
The earphone and/or microphone on my audio accessory isn’t working with my NANO
First, make sure that the accessory is firmly plugged into the accessory jack of the NANO.
Keep in mind that the accessory must also be wired using the CTIA or Apple iPhone
standard. Some accessories may be wired differently and could therefore be be
incompatible with the NANO even though the have a plug which fits the accessory jack.
Please contact PRYME Tech Support for further assistance.
The Smart PTT Button on my NANO isn’t working.
First, ensure that the power switch on the NANO is set to the ON position. Then, make
sure that you are signed into your POC app, that you have an active cellular data or WiFi
connection, and have selected the contact you wish to speak with in your POC app. If
pressing the Smart PTT button still does not cause the POC app to transmit a message,
then it may be necessary to replace the battery inside your NANO.
The Smart PTT Button on my NANO is out of synch (transmits when released)
In the unlikely event that this occurs, press and release the Headset Hook button on the
NANO. This should restore normal operation.
PRYME makes a variety of listen-only earphones that will work with the NANO:

CONNECTING AN AUDIO ACCESSORY TO THE NANO
SHOWN WITH APPLE EAR PODS (NOT INCLUDED)
In order to be able to hear audio from the attached handset, the NANO requires an Apple®-compatible

that includes both an earphone and a microphone. The plug on the audio accessory must by a 3.5 mm
