What it is:
SAN Pro’s scalability allows enterprises to start with
the SAN that is right sized for today’s requirements
and grow as the business expands. SAN Pro offers
the industry’s first 4Gb stackable switch – the
SANbox 5602. It features a stackable and module
architecture that provides true “pay as you go”
scalability.
How it works:
With sixteen 4Gb ports plus a four-pack of high-speed 10Gb ISL
ports, and entry as low as 8 ports with 4-port software-keyed
increments and included graphical user interface (GUI) wizards,
each SANbox 5602 stackable switch provides maximum
flexibility for configuring, managing and scaling SANs. The 4
port upgrades can be added at any time without disruption to the
existing fabric.
How competitive solutions work:
Brocade and McData do not offer stackable products due to the limitation of their architecture. Although port licensing
is available on some of these products, they do not benefit from stacking when expanding the fabric and licenses can
be lost if a unit is reset.
The user benefit:
Customers can now scale from 8 to 64 ports without wasting ports for interconnects. The stack is managed as a single
unit to simplify configuration settings and software upgrades.
