2.1A In Humid Area, No Ducting
ThesimplestinstallationistoplacetheHI-EDry100inthehumidareawithnoducting.Theairinletontop
&outletonthesidemustbeatleast1’fromwallsandotherobstructionstoairow.
2.1B In Humid Area, Duct inlet and/or Outlet
Ifthehumidareaisverylargeorhashighceilings,dehumidicationcanbeimprovedbyaddinganinlet
and/oroutletducttocirculateanddestratifystagnantareas.Foralargearea,addinletoroutletductingto
createowacrossthearea’sgreatestlength.
Forareaswithceilingshigherthan12’,useaninletducttodrawwarm,moistairfromneartheceiling.See
section2.4forattachingductcollars&ducting.
2.1C In Remote Area, Duct Inlet & Outlet
Itisoftendesirable,especiallyinnishedareas,toinstalltheHI-EDry100inanadjacentequipmentroom
orunnishedarea.Airistransferredbetweenthehumidroomandtheunitviaducting.
ThefactorymountedhumiditycontrolontheHI-EDry100cabinetmaynotsensethehumidityinthehumid
roomaccuratelyenoughwiththisinstallationmethod.Ifso,anadditionalhumiditycontrolcanbemounted
inthehumidroomandwiredtotheHI-EDry100.Localelectricalcodesmustbefollowedwhenwiringthe
control.
2.1D In Remote Area, Duct Outlet Only
AsimplerremoteinstallationmethodthantheoneaboveusesductingonlybetweentheHI-EDry100
dischargeandthehumidroom;theHI-EDry100inletdrawsairfromtheroominwhichit’slocated.This
workswellifthereisanadequateairowpathbetweenthetworooms;e.g.,highdoorundercut,louvered
doororwallgrill.Thiseliminatestheneedtoremotemountthehumiditycontrol.Thereareseveralpotential
disadvantagestousingthismethod.First,humidairisdrawnintotheroomwheretheHI-EDry100is
located.Second,toaccuratelysensehumidity,theblowerintheHI-EDry100mayneedtoruncontinuously
todrawairfromthehumidroomintotheHI-EDry100room.Third,aslightnegativepressureiscreated
intheroomwiththeHI-EDry100whichcouldbackdraftopencombustiondeviceslocatedthere.Ifsuch
devicesarepresent,callthefactoryforspecicinstructionsbeforeusingthisinstallationmethodorconsider
theoptionbelow.
2.1E In Remote Area, Duct Inlet Only
WhentheHI-EDry100islocatedinaroomseparatefromthemainareatobedehumidied,itmaybe
desirabletodehumidifyand/orslightlypressurizethatroom.Pressurizationassuresthatopencombustion
devicesdonotbackdraftaswouldbethecaseiftheroomwassufcientlyde-pressurized.Thiscanbe
accomplishedbyinstallingaductfromthehumidroomtotheHI-EDry100inletandbyallowingtheHI-E
Dry100todischargethedehumidiedairintotheroominwhichit’slocated.Anadequateairowpath
mustexistbetweenthetworoomsforthismethodtoworkwell.Anadditionalhumiditycontrolmayneedto
bemountedinthehumidareaandwiredtotheHI-EDry100toaccuratelymaintainthedesiredhumidity.
Localelectricalcodesmustbefollowedwhenwiringthecontrol.
2.2 Electrical Requirements
TheHI-EDryplugsintoacommongroundedoutletona15Ampcircuit.Itdrawsbetween6and7Amps
undernormaloperatingconditions.Ifusedinawetarea(pool,sparoom,orbasementpronetoooding),a
groundfaultinterrupterprotectedcircuitisrequired.
Ifanextensioncordisrequired,itmusthaveaminimumof16gaugeconductorsiflessthan25feetlongand
14gaugeifgreaterthan25feet.
