1.0 About your HotZONETM HeatProjector
Congratulations on your purchase of a revolutionary HotZONETM HeatProjector from Radiant Op-
tics. The HeatProjector line of electric infrared heaters are the most efficient spot heaters on the
market today – and not by just a little bit. Our high efficiency heat “projector” is made possible by
the combination of two proprietary and innovative features. Infrared heat is generated with our
unique Inverted Cone IR element and focused using our precision Compound Reflective Lens.
These act to generate, collect, and concentrate heat rays into a beam that can be pointed at a tar-
get area.
This model e7500 delivers the equivalent energy of a 7500w non-lensed heater with only 1500w
input.
HeatProjectors are very low cost to run, have a smaller carbon footprint and can deliver a beam of
heat to a target over a longer distance and with a defined edge between the heated and unheated
areas.
Visit www.radiantoptics.com for more information about mounted HeatProjectors and replace-
ment elements.

2.0 Important Instructions
When using or working on electric heaters, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce
the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read all instructions before installing or using this heater.
2. Remove the unit from the packaging and make sure it is in good condition before using.
3. Keep packaging away from children.
4. Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord, plug, element, switch or stand, or if mal-
functioning due to previous use or drop. Disconnect power if the supply cord is damaged in
any way and contact our customer service.
5. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Keep
combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, etc. and curtains
at least 4 feet from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
6. Do not use near or in the immediate vicinity of a bath, swimming pool or any other body of
water. Do not use in the rain.
7. Do not immerse cord or plug in any liquid.
8. Always unplug the heater when not in use.
9. Connect only to properly grounded outlets.
10. Always plug heater directly into outlets. Do not use extensions cords or power strips.
11. Do not cover cord with carpets, rugs, runners or similar items. Do not route cord under furni-
ture or appliances. Arrange cord away from high traffic areas. Arrange cord where it will not
be tripped on.
12. Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids. Do not
operate unattended.
13. To disconnect heater, turn power switch to off, and unplug from outlet.
14. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may
cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
15. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner.
16. A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline,
paint, or flammable vapors or liquids are used or stored.
17. Do not place fingers or foreign objects into grill on lens at anytime.
18. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the
manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
19. Burned-out elements cannot be safely repaired and must be replaced.
20. This heater is intended for use by capable adults only.

3.0 Setup and Operation
Setup
1. Remove the heater head and stand from its packaging.
2. Place the stand on a level surface, adjust height, and hand tighten clamps. See instruction pro-
vided with stand.
3. The stand comes with a “screw adapter fitting” installed that is unnecessary. Untighten top clamp
and remove fitting and discard.
4. Place heater head fitting into hole on top of stand. Tighten clamp.
3
Operation
1. Intended for OUTDOOR use only.
2. Always maintain a minimum clearance of 4 feet in front of the heater and 1 foot from ad-
jacent walls and other surrounding objects to the sides, top and back of the heater.
3. There is an anti-tilt switch inside the unit. In the event the heater falls over, the anti-tilt
switch will de-energize the heater.
4. Plug the unit into a 3-pin properly grounded 110V/120V outlet.
5. Allow the cord to drop directly to the ground at the base of the heater. There should be
no tension on the cord from stretching it to reach an outlet.
6. Adjust the heater head to point the heater at approximately a 25-45 degree angle. The an-
ti-tilt switch can de-energize the unit if the head is tilted too low of too high. The anti-tilt
switch will automatically reset once the heater head is returned to its proper operating po-
sition.
7. Turn the heater on using the on/off toggle switch.
8. Use sand bags as necessary to prevent the unit from tipping over.
9. Disconnect heater from power and allow the heater head to cool before putting it away or
disassembling the heater/stand.

1. The heater does not contain user serviceable parts. Should the product be damaged or
breakdown, contact our customer service.
2. Damaged supply cords must be replaced by the manufacturer.
3. Replacement elements are available and should be installed by qualified personnel.
Cleaning
Unplug the power cord and make sure the heater is cool before continuing. Clean the outer shell
with a soft damp cloth. Do not use flammable cleaners such as alcohol, gasoline, or solvents or
abrasive powders, furniture polish or rough brushes to clean the other shell.
Do not clean inside the heater or put objects through the lens grid. Ensure the element does not
get wet.
Maintenance
Visually inspect the heater, cord and plug for damage at least once per month.
HotZone™ heaters have no moving parts and require very little maintenance. We recommend the
following be done at least once a year:
• With an air hose regulated to 30 psi or less, blow off any dust and dirt that has accumulated
on the reflective surfaces of the heater and reflective lens. Accumulated dirt can degrade per-
formance .
• Blow off any accumulated dirt on the vent gaps of the heater and make sure the cover is not
bent such that the vent area is reduced.
• When not installed or in use, store the heater in a dry, dust-free place and be sure the lens
assembly is protected from any possible damage.

5.0 Troubleshooting
At power and after two to three minutes of warm-up time, the heater element should glow a warm
orange color, similar to the color of coals in a hot fire.
If the element does not warm up at all:
• Check that the power is on at the circuit breaker and/or any installed switch or dimmer.
• Position in proper operating position (heater head at 25 to 45 degrees) to ensure anti-tilt
switch is not active.
• Check that the element has not failed. Burned out elements normally have visible burn marks
on the face of the element. If there is no evidence of damage, and you still suspect the element,
disconnect the power, turn the switch to the on position, and check resistance across the
spades on the cord. Element failure is indicated by an open circuit.
• If the heater barely glows:
• Check any installed dimmer is turned full on and operating correctly,
• Check for the correct 110V-120V line voltage (under load condition).
Replacement Elements
The estimated life of the element is approximately 2000 hours. Information on replacement ele-
ments can be found at www.radiantoptics.com.
Lens Repair
Heater lenses are manufactured from thin aluminum and are easily bent and damaged. Heater
performance deteriorates when the lenses are bent or damaged. In most cases the lenses can be
bent back into shape by hand or with pliers. If the lens cannot be repaired, it can be replaced.
