1Introduction
This document outlines the step-by-step process of installing, configuring and operating the REI SV-
360HD 3D Camera System.
Whether deployed on a school bus, commercial truck, shuttle bus, or standard to short-sized motor
coach, this surround-view monitoring system is capable of synthesizing images utilizing four 180° fish-
eyed cameras to create a true high definition 3D view of the vehicle surroundings.
The technology provides omni-directional (surround view) monitoring around the vehicle from a
dynamically definable perspective or "free eye point." The four cameras used in this system can display
a complete visual of the positioning and moving path of the vehicle, which eliminates blind spots, allows
parking to be less hazardous, and guides drivers through restrictive situations caused by adjacent
vehicles and objects, parking lines, etc.
Various system configurations are applicable such as HDMI/LVDS/AV with alternative version of 2D or
3D integrated four channel car DVR function that supports video loop recording over 24 hours.

2Installation Instructions
Camera Installation Guidelines
All the cameras must be installed at the half-way distance between the front and back or left and right
of vehicle, at the same height from the ground.
If the vehicle has a nose, place camera mounted at the highest point, it is necessary to mount the
camera at the middle point from the left and right side.

Note: If the vehicle has a curved roof line and curved glass, mounting brackets may be necessary to
extend the camera position to maintain the proper camera angle and viewing range.
Embedded or out-cell installation for side cameras depend on the size of the side mirrors and on the
space available for installation, especially for large vehicles.
Protect glass lenses when disassembling the side mirrors and take care when drilling installation holes
under the plastic covers of the mirrors.
Cameras must be aimed 45° off the vehicle.
Camera Location on Vehicle
Typically, vehicle camera placement is categorized for vehicles either with a nose or without.
Note: The maximum length of the nose of the bus before camera placement will have to be altered to
conform to the length of the nose of the vehicle is less than, or equal to, four feet.

2.1 Camera Installation Steps
1. Mark the pilot holes where the cameras will be mounted on the vehicle.
Determine the middle point of the bus and place the camera gasket at the point. Mark the point
and drill a ½-inch cable hole.
2. Continue using the camera gasket as a camera-mounting template and mark the pilot holes for
mounting the camera. After marking the points, drill ⅛-inch holes on the pilot points.
3. Mount the Cameras
•Run the cable through the cable hole on the vehicle, place gasket on the camera base, and
plug the cable into the camera.
Note: The photo sensor is located on the bottom view of the camera and the mounting orientation of
the camera should have the sensor pointed as close to the vehicle as possible.
•Line up the camera with the mounting pilot holes and run the mounting screws through the
camera mounting holes and into the vehicle.
•After the camera is fastened to the vehicle, aim the camera lens vertical to the vehicle 45°
and lock the angle in place by installing the camera housing.
4. Route Wiring Inside Vehicle
•Route wiring from the cameras to the control module.
•All cables should be gathered to the control module.
•Refer to the wiring diagram for more details.
•Take note of the color and connector size of each extending cable.
2.2 Install the Control Module
Note: It is recommended that the control module is installed inside/behind the tool cabinet. This will
make it easier to remove the TF Card or USB Disk.
1. Remove the panel from the control module and connect the HDMI cable of the LCD monitor or
other display screen.
2. Install the control module. If inIR Mode, put the infrared receiver in a position facing the general
direction of the operator. Use the 3M stick tape on the bottom the IR receiver to secure it to the
mounting surface.

3. Connect the trigger of the left/right turning signal from the fuse box to control module wire
harness, or from side mirror turning LED indicator to the camera side of the extending cable.
4. Connect the power cable to the 12-volt battery supply line and connect the wiring harness to
the control module.
5. Attach the control module in the tool cabinet or the space behind the central control panel.
6. Connect all the cables for the pending function testing and debugging procedure and assemble
the panel back to the control module.
5. Test the Wiring
•Do not turn on the power before assuring that all wire connections are made.
•Do not hot-plug the control module.
6. Conduct Functional Test
•Test the main functions and settings of the control module.
7. Adjust the Side Camera Angle
•Roll the camera to select a proper angle that can allow the side calibration tap to be
overlapped with the reference guide line on the screen.
8. Camera Calibration
•Follow the step-by-step prompts on the system menu.
•Once the calibration data is completely collected, the system software will automatically
complete the video merging.
9. Fix Devices
•Fix the positions of the wire connections, cameras, and the control module.
10. Reconversion
•To recover all the parts of the vehicle.
2.3 Camera Installation Angle
Select the proper camera installation position to achieve as many pixel contents as possible while
keeping the body of the vehicle visible. The camera optical axis should have a vertical angle of 45°
corresponding to the vehicle body. For buses and trucks, it is recommended to install all the cameras
in the middle point of each top side which is illustrated as follows:

2.4 LCD Monitor Installation
Choose the desired location (typically on the dashboard) and mount the monitor. The monitor uses a
10-ft. HDMI cable that serves as the connection between the monitor and the module, so remain within
that distance from where the control module is mounted.
Make the Monitor Power Cable connections as denoted in the Cable and Component schematic.

3Camera Configuration
Configuration of the cameras can be performed after the camera system has been successfully
installed.
3.1 Set the Calibration Parameters
A bus will typically be surrounded with a total of 24 camera calibration points. The points are outlined
alongside and at both ends of the vehicle and are identified with round foam markers. A cone is placed
on calibration points three and four per camera calibration.
Note Calibration settings can be imported and exported to be re-used on similar buses. This enables a
fleet of buses to receive consistent calibration settings for each vehicle.
The manufacturer recommends exporting calibration data immediately after system calibration is
completed. This will prevent having to start the calibration process all over again in the event of system
failure and recovery of calibration settings would be necessary. Saving the calibration settings would
enable the installer of the new system to just download the legacy data into the replacement system.
Aiming Kit Components
Aiming Kit
An optional Aiming Kit (PN 750403) is recommended to enable the most accurate camera calibration.
The kit consists of the following:
•100-foot tape measure
•A pair of 31-inch 3D Target Cones
•Angle finder
•Set of 24 aiming targets
•Calibration instructions (PN 640543)
