Installation
We
highly recommend that you have the Color Graphics Option
Kit installed
by
the service technicians
at
your Radio Shack Ser-
vice Center. Doing so not only ensures expert installation, but also
enables the technicians to quickly check
to
make sure all the equip-
ment
is
functioning properly.
If,
however, you do decide
to
install the kit yourself, follow these
steps exactly:
1.
Warning: Turn off
a11
equipment.
If
it
is
on,
you
could dam-
age the central processing unit,
as
well
as
your Monochrome
Graphics Option Board.
2.
To
avoid
possible static charge buildup, touch a metal object
to
ground yourself before
you
begin.
3.
If
you
have
already installed the monochrome board, unlock it
by
pulling the lock buttons; then carefully remove it.
4. The Color Graphics Option Kit consists
of
the following parts:
• Eight TMS4416-15 RAMs
• Four 74F245 chips
• Four 25LS22 chips
The monochrome board contains an empty socket
for
each part.
On
each slip
is
a notch or circle indicating Pin
1.
When insert-
ing the chips, make sure the Pin 1 indicator lines up with the
notch outline on the board.
(If
you insert the chip incorrectly,
you
will destroy the board.)
Insert the chips in the empty sockets,
as
listed here:
• TMS4416-15 RAMs at Locations U2-U9
• 74F245 chips at Locations U40, U41, U43, and U44
• 25LS22 chips at Locations U20, U38, U22, and U24
(See the illustration on the following page.)
