Operation
Powering Your Radio
Power your radio in one of two ways:
• Insert a 6V, 400mA AC adapter with
DC plug center negative (not included) into
the DC IN 6V jack to power your radio.
OR
• Insert 4 “AA” batteries (not included). Insert batteries as
indicated by the polarity symbols + and -.
Battery Note:
• When
BATT
flashes, replace the batteries.
• Dispose of batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or
bury them.
• Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (alkaline or rechargeable), or
rechargeable batteries of different capacities.
• If you do not plan to use the radio for a long time, remove the batteries. Batteries can leak
chemicals that can damage electronic parts.
Basic Operation
Setting the Time
When you turn on your radio for the first
time, the clock displays 0:00 or AM 12:00
and the clock time icon 1.
Set the Clock Time
1. Press POWER to turn on the radio.
2. Press DISPLAY to show time status.
3. Press and hold until 1 flashes.
4. Using the digit buttons, enter the
correct time and press again to
confirm.
n Note: If you enter an incorrect time (such
as 9:99), the radio will beep and Err flashes in
the display.
Set Dual Time
You can set an additional clock time for
another time zone.
1. With the radio on, press CLOCK 1/2 to
set dual time, 2 flashes.
2. Press . 2 stops flashing.
3. Press and hold until 2 flashes.
4. Using the digit buttons, enter the
correct time and press again to
confirm.
View Clock and Dual Time
• Press CLOCK 1/2 to show clock and
dual time. The display will show each
time for 7 seconds.
• Press CLOCK 1/2 and to change
your default standby time display to
either clock or dual time.

Selecting and Tuning a Waveband
You can choose from four wavebands: FM, AM, SW, LW.
Waveband Frequency coverage Antenna
FM 87.5 – 108 MHZ Fully extend the telescopic antenna; angle
and rotate for best reception.
AM 520 – 1710 kHz Internal
SW (short wave) 1711 – 29999 kHz Fully extend the telescopic antenna; angle
and rotate for best reception.
LW (long wave) 153 – 279 kHz Internal
Shortwave Meter Band
1. Turn on the radio.
2. Press BAND to select SW waveband.
3. Press SW SELECT button to select the required SW meter band. The radio displays the
SW frequency.
n Note: This radio covers SW 120 to 11 meter bands.
Direct Tuning
1. Turn on the radio.
2. Press BAND to select a waveband.
3. Press ; the radio displays ---- .
4. Enter the station number, then press to confirm.
n Note: Make sure you enter the correct number, otherwise the radio will switch to another
waveband.
5. Extend the antenna fully and rotate for best reception.
Manual Tuning
1. Press BAND to select a waveband.
2. Press / or turn the tuning knob to tune to the desired frequency.
Press the tuning knob to fine tune.
Press any other button to exit fine tuning.

Scan Tuning
1. Press BAND to select a waveband.
2. Press and hold or to start scan tuning. The radio will scan all frequencies in the
selected band and stop automatically when a station is found.
3. Press and hold or again to continue scanning for the next active station. When the
waveband ends, the radio will beep and continue tuning in descending order.
Preset Memory Tuning
You can store up to 45 preset stations (FM, AM, and LW: 9 presets each; SW: 18 presets).
1. Tune to the desired frequency.
2. Press M. M and a preset number flash in the display. Press to
store your station in that memory position.
• You can exchange your preset positions easily. Press M to select a
preset station, and then enter your desired digit to select a new preset position.
• When SW presets 1 – 9 are all set, press SW PAGE to select presets 10 – 18 on page 2.
The display will show M2.
nNote: If all presets have been set and you press M, the display shows FULL. If you still want
to store a new station, press and hold any digit button. The new station will overwrite the original
station.
Recall a Preset
1. Press BAND to select a waveband.
2. Enter the preset memory location using the digit buttons to go to the preset station.
Auto Preset Scanning
Auto Preset Scanning (APS) lets you automatically scan and store stations on FM, AM, and
LW bands.
1. With the radio on, press BAND to select the desired waveband.
2. Press and at the same time. The radio beeps and then scans from the lowest
frequency on the selected band. The radio automatically stores stations in the preset
memory based on signal strength.
When APS completes, the radio beeps, and the display shows M1 and the strongest
signal. If the radio finds no stations, the display shows the lowest frequency of the
selected band.
3. Press POWER to exit APS.
nNote:
• FM, AM, and LW wavebands each have a maximum of 9 presets.
• APS is not available for SW waveband.
• APS erases all previously stored preset stations.

Setting the Alarm
You can set the alarm when the radio is
switched on or off. If the radio is switched
on, press DISPLAY to show the clock time.
Set the Radio Alarm
1. Press . The display
shows the current
alarm time and the
icon flashes.
2. Use the digit buttons
to enter the alarm time.
3. Press to confirm.
4. Tune the radio to the desired station.
To check the alarm time
1. Press to display the alarm time.
2. Press to return to clock time.
To cancel the radio alarm
Press to enter radio alarm mode. Then
either:
• Press C; the alarm icon disappears.
OR
• During the alarm, press POWER to turn
off the alarm for 24 hours.
nNote: During the alarm, if you do not press
POWER to turn off the alarm, the alarm sounds
for one hour.
Set the Beep Alarm
1. Press . The display
shows the last alarm
time set and the
icon flashes.
2. Use the digit buttons
to enter the alarm time.
3. Press to confirm.
To cancel the beep alarm
Press to enter the beep alarm time mode.
Then either:
• Press C ; the alarm icon disappears.
OR
• When the alarm sounds, press POWER
to turn off the alarm.
nNote:
• A repeat beep tone sounds when the
beep alarm activates. The alarm beep will
increase volume every 15 seconds for one
minute, followed by one minute of silence
before repeating the cycle.
• During the alarm, if you do not press
POWER to turn off the alarm, the alarm
sounds for one hour.
Set the Sleep Timer
The sleep timer will automatically switch off
the radio according to the time you select.
1. Press and hold
POWER/ . The
display will cycle
through the sleep
time options: 60, 30,
15, 120, and 90 minutes.
2. When your desired time appears,
release POWER/ . The sleep icon
and the radio frequency appear.
After 2 seconds, the display shows the
frequency.
To cancel the sleep timer
Press POWER/. The sleep icon
disappears, the display reverts to clock time,
and the radio turns off.

Mode: Configuration Options
The following table shows setting options for radio tuning, clock, beep alarm, and presets.
Press MODE, press the digit buttons, and then press to change and save settings.

For example, if you want to change from AM 10 kHz to 9 kHz, press MODE, the digit buttons
2, 0, then .
You can rearrange the order of your preset stations from low frequency to high frequency
stations by pressing MODE, then the digits 5, 0 or 5, 1, followed by .
Continuous Wave and Single Side Band
Some SW and LW stations transmit in Morse Code using a form of transmission called
Continuous Wave (CW). Some SW stations use a special type of voice transmission called
Single Side Band (SSB).
To tune to a CW or SSB station, select the band and frequency and
adjust the antenna. Set the FM/FM ST/SSB/AM switch to SSB. The
TUNE/SSB LED lights red. Turning from its midpoint, slowly adjust the
CLARIFY dial until reception becomes clear. You can also use the tuning
knob for best SSB reception.
When you find a station, the TUNE/SSB LED lights orange.
FM Mono/Stereo
To listen to FM stereo broadcasts, tune to the station, plug in your
headphones (not included), and set the FM/FM ST/SSB/AM switch to
FM ST (stereo). If the station signal is weak, some hiss may be audible.
To reduce the hiss, set the switch to FM (mono).
nNote: FM stereo is only available via headphones.

Headphones
Insert headphones (not included) with a 3.5mm plug into
the jack on the left side of the radio. When headphones
are connected, the radio’s speaker is automatically
disconnected.
Lock Switch
The lock switch is used to prevent unintentional
operation of the radio.
Set the lock switch to the ON position.
The lock icon appears, and all buttons will be
disabled. To unlock, move the switch to the OFF
position. disappears.
Display Backlight
Press to turn on the display backlight for approximately 7 seconds. Press again to turn off
the light immediately.
DX/Local Switch
When listening to SW or FM broadcasting, the DX/Local switch adjusts the receiver’s
sensitivity.
When listening to a station with a strong signal, set the switch
to LOCAL for best reception. For stations with normal or weak
signals, set to DX for maximum sensitivity.
SW EXT. ANT
To improve SW reception, you can connect an optional
external antenna (not included) directly to the SW EXT ANT
jack receiver. Connecting an external antenna automatically
disconnects the radio’s built-in antenna.

Troubleshooting
If the radio or the display fails to operate correctly:
1. Switch off the radio and remove the batteries or unplug your adapter.
2. With the aid of a pointed tool (such as the end of paper clip or pen),
press the RESET button for at least 1 second. This will reset the clock
time and clear all stations stored in the preset memory.
3. Replace batteries or reconnect your adapter and power on.
Care and Maintenance
• Keep your radio dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Keep your radio away from
dust and dirt. Handle your radio carefully; do not drop it.
• Avoid contact with any corrosive materials such as perfume, alcohol, or cleaning agents.
• Do not subject the radio to excessive force, shock, dust, temperature or humidity. Any of
these conditions may shorten the life of the radio.
• Do not tamper with any of the internal components of this radio. Doing so will invalidate
the warranty and may cause damage.
RESET
