Keychain-Remote Control System
Your RadioShack Keychain-Remote
Control System is a valuable accesso-
ry for your Wireless Remote Control
System. With this switch and trans-
ceiver you can individually turn on or
off lights or appliances from any loca-
tion in your home. Using the remote,
you can turn on and off a lamp or ap-
pliance, connected to the transceiver.
You can also turn on and off other
lamps or appliances attached to your
optional Plug 'n Power®receivers.
This remote control system is compati-
ble with other Plug 'n Power systems
and controllers, all of which are avail-
able from your local RadioShack
store.
PREPARATION
1. Using a small screwdriver, set the
house code dial of the transceiver
and the dial of the remote (located
inside the remote’s battery com-
partment) to the same letter.
2. Set the slide switch inside the re-
mote's battery compartment to the
unit code of the lamps or applianc-
es you want to control (1 and 2, or

Remote Transceiver
5 and 6). Set the unit code on each
optional lamp/appliance module to
correspond to the same number set-
ting on the slide switch.
Note: Regardless of the slide switch
setting, the transceiver always turns
on a connected lamp or appliance
using Button 1.
Your appliance switch requires two AAA
batteries (not supplied) for power. For
the best performance and longest life,
we recommend RadioShack alkaline
batteries.
Cautions:
• Use only fresh batteries of the re-
quired size and recommended type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries or
different types of batteries.
Follow these steps to install batteries.
1. Slide the battery compartment cover
in the direction of the arrow to re-
move it.
2. Place the batteries in the compart-
ment as indicated by the polarity
symbols (+ and –) marked inside.

3. Replace the cover.
4. Plug the transceiver into a standard
AC outlet, then fully extend the
transceiver's antenna. Plug the lamp
or appliance into the transceiver. If
you plug the transceiver into a
switched outlet, turn the switch on.
When a lamp or appliance does not reli-
ably respond to the remote’s com-
mand, replace the batteries.
Warning: Dispose of old batteries
promptly and properly. Do not burn or
bury them.
Caution: If you do not plan to use the
remote switch for several weeks, re-
move the batteries. Batteries can leak
chemicals that can destroy electronic
parts.
OPERATION
Button 1 on the remote always controls
the lamp/appliance connected to the
transceiver. Button 1 or 2 controls other
optional modules in addition to this
transceiver if you set the unit code for
those modules to either 1, 2, 5, or 6.
For other modules with unit codes set to
1 or 2, press Button 1. For modules set
to unit codes 5 or 6, press Button 2.

THE FCC WANTS YOU TO
KNOW
Modifying or tampering with your Key-

ranty and void your FCC license to use
it. If your system is not performing as it
should, take it to your local RadioShack

Your Keychain-Remote Control System
might cause TV or radio interference
even when operating properly. To deter-
mine whetheryour system is causing
the interference, unplug the transceiver.
If the interference goes away, your sys-
tem is causing the problem. Try to elimi-
nate the interference by:
•moving your transceiver to a loca-
tion away from the radio or TV
•connecting the transceiver to an out-
let that is on a different electrical cir-
cuit from the radio or TV
•contacting your local RadioShack
store for assistance
If you cannot eliminate the interference,
the FCC requires that you stop using
