Device Buttons (VCRI, VCR2.LD, DSSWABLE, AUDIO, TV)
Determines which device you are controlling. The
VCR2*LD and DSS*CABLE buttons can be assigned to
one of the two devices listed. For example, VCR2*LD
can be assigned to either aVCR or aLaserdisc Player.

VCR Buttons WNCR, Rm, PLAYFE REC,STOP ,WSq
Use these buttons to control playback from aVCR or
Laserdisc Player. Also used to record onto aVCR tape.
Y
ENTER (AlsoSKIP for some RCA, GE, and ProScan Tv’s) .
Use this button for two functions. Use as ENTER
when programming using CODE SEARCH or when
entering channels numbers for some TVs. Use as SKIP
to look at other channels during commercial breaks.
Press SKIP repeatedly to select the commercial time to
skip. Change channels and TV will return to original
channel when time runs out.

Channel and Sound PISPLAY, ENTER, VOL, CHAN,
MUTE, PREV CH)

Use these buttons to control sound and channel changes.
Number Buttons (0-9)
Use these buttons to dir~ctly enter channel numbers for
aTV, VCR and Cable Box or for accessing preset chan-
nels of an AM/M tuner or enter disk and track num-
bers for aCD player. Also used for entering program
code numbers from brand lists.
Menu Buttons (MENUOPROG, MOVE, -, +, UP, DOWN) ‘
Use these buttons to adjust on-screen menu features and
programming information. A

Code Search Button /
Programs devices by searching through brand codes.

Use when code lists are not available or when the listed
code does not work with your device. See page 6.
PIP Buttons (PIP, MOVE PIP, SWAP, FREEZE)
Use these buttons to adjust the Picture-in Picture feature
if it is available on your TV.

Utilisez cette touche pour deux fonctions. Utilisez-la
comme touche ENTER pour confirmer la programmation
5l’aide de CODE SEARCH ou quand vous entrez les
indicatifs de canaux pour certains t~leviseurs. Utilisez-la
comme touche SKIP pour parcourir les autres canaux
pendant les pauses publicitaires. Appuyez plusieurs fois
sur SKIP pour choisir 1a dur~e du saut-pub. Lorsque
vous changez les canaux, Ie te14viseur retourne au canal
initial quand Ie temps est ecoul~. /

Utilisez ces touches pour changer le volume et Ies canaux.

Utilisez ces touches pour entrer directement les indicat-
ifs de canaux d’un t~leviseur, un magnetoscope et un
c~bloselecteur ou pour acc~der aux canaux programm~s
d’un syntonisateur AM/~ ou entrer les numeros de
disque et de pla~e d’un lecteur CD. Permettent aussi
d’entrer Ies codes de programmation 5partir des listes
de marques. ///

Place Batteries in the remote
1. Remove the battery compartment cover.
2. Place four AAA batteries as shown,
matching the +and –end of each battery as
indicated in the battery compartment.
3. Replace the cover.

If the device turns on, press another button,
to confirm (for example CHANNEL UP).
If the device you selected (TV) responds,
you will not need to program the remote.

not respond, you will need to program

The remote may already be setup to operate your brand of TV, VCR, Laserdisc,
Satellite Receiver, Audio Equipment, or Cable Box. It is pre-programmed with
the following codes: TV-000, VCR1-000, AUDIO-003, SAT”CabIe Box-000, and
Laser Disc Player-037. For brands that require programming, there are two ways
to program: Using Code Lists or Code Search. Use Code Search if the code lists
are not available or if the codes from the lists do not operate adevice.

Manually turn on your device

Press and release the device button you

turns off (you may have to press up to
100 times).
Once the device turns off,
press and release ENTER,
With the device on, press another button,
for example CHANNEL UP. If the device
responds, no further programming is

Turning the TV On and Off.
1. Press TV to set the remote to control the
TV (Most RCA, GE and ProScan models
will only turn on when TV is pressed,
not POWER.)
2.Press POWER toturn the TV on or off.
Change Channels on the TV
Press CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN
to change channels on the TV or enter the
channels as you would normally for
your TV.
Use the buttons below to adjust features on
your TV.
DISPLAY- Shows displays on the screen and
clears menus from the screen.
MUTE -Switches the TV sound on or off.
PREV CH (PREVIOUS CHANNEL) -Changes
back and forth between two channels. Select a
channel using the number buttons and then
select another. Press PREV CH to switch
between the two channels.
If your TV has picture-in-picture, you may be
able to use the following buttons to adjust PIP.
PIP (PICTURE-IN-PICTURE) –Turns the small
picture on or off.
MOVE PIP –Moves the small picture to the
next corner.
SWAP -Switches the channel in the small
picture with the big picture.
FREEZE –Freezes or unfreezes the small picture.

PREV CH -S61ectionnez un premier canal a

ieme. En appuyant sur la touche PREV CH,
le t61eviseur passera d’un canal Al’autre.
Si votre t616viseur est dot~ de la fonction Image
sur image, vous pourrez r4gler cettc fonction a

PIP -Allume ou eteint la petite image.
MOVE PIP -Deplace la petite image au coin
suivant de Y6cran.
SWAP -I’ermutc la petite et la grande image.

to control the VCR. (Most RCA, GE and

pressing VCR not POWER).

1. Turn on the VCR.
2. Insert atape in the VCR.
3. Press PLAY to start the tape.
4. Press STOP when you are finished.

Record one channel and watch another.
1. Press VCR1 or VCR2”LD to set the remote
to control the VCR.
2.Tune the VCR to the channel you want to
record.

some RCA, C,E or ProScan products.

magnetoscope.

5. Appuyez sur REW pour rebobiner
la cassette.
6. Appuyez sur PAUSE pour faire une pause.
Pour enregistrer un canal et en regarder
un autre
1. Appuyez sur VCR1 ou VCR2*LD pour
programmer la t616commande a
commander Ie magn~toscope.
2. Syntonisez au magndtoscope le canal que
vous voulez enregistrer.
3. Appuyez sur REC pour commencer l’en-
registrement.
4. Appuyez sur TVNCR.
5. Appuyez sur TV pour programmer la tel6-
commande acommander le tdleviseur.
6. Appuyez sur CHANNEL UP ou DOWN
pour changer les canaux au televiseur.
7. Pour visionner le canal que vous enreg-
istrez, syntonisez le canal 3ou 4au
teldviseur (m~me bouton que CH3/4 sur
votre magnetoscope). Syntonisez les
canaux 90, 91 ou 92 clans le cas de certains
appareils RCA, GE ou ProScan.

the Laserdisc Player.

Turn the Audio Equipment On and Off.
1. Press AUDIO to set the remote to control
the Audio Equipment. (Most RCA, GE and
ProScan models will only turn on when
pressing AUDIO not POWER).
2. Press POWER to turn the Audio Equipment
on or off.
Play a tape or CD in Audio Equipment.

You may want to experiment with the
remote to determine all the buttons which
work with your Audio Equipment.
RCA, GE, and ProScan televisions use three dif-
ferent menu systems. Read the following ORIGINALR(AREMOTE R(U500
descriptions, and choose the one that matches a.be

par MENU ●PROG et les touches flech~es +et -sur
cette t~lecommande. Reportez-vous ensuite aux
instructions de commande clans Ie guide de l’utilisa-
teur de votre t@16viseur. La telecommande est deja
programmed pour commander ce systeme de menu.

You will have to experiment with the remote to determine the buttons

Some TV/VCR combination units may be controlled by using a-:
combination of TV and VCR codes. For example, the Samsung
TV/VCR combo unit may be controlled by both the Samsung TV
code and the Samsung VCR code.

RCA, GE and PROSCAN Brand Devices:
Many of these devices (TVs and VCRs) will not need to be
programmed. In the event that programming is required,
the code search method is suggested.
Note: With these brands, the device button (TV, VCR1, VCR2 ●LD,
AUDIO) will usually turn the units on. The POWER button will only I
turn off the device, if you used the TV, VCR1 or AUDIO button to
turn the unit on.
SCIENTIFIC ATLANTIC Cable Boxes:
This brand of cable box can be programmed using the code search
method by using the CHANNEL UP key rather than POWER during
Code Search. NOTE: The device must be turned on prior to beginning
the code search. Once the device turns off, press and release ENTER.
In most cases this cable box can be turned on and off using the
CHANNEL UP key@ the POWER button. If the unit will not turn
~on using the CHANNEL UP key, then manually turn it on and

!only partial compatibility will be achieved.

;JERROLD or GENERAL INSTRUMENTS Cable Boxes:
,These units can be programmed using the code search method.
In some cases, these devices will change channels during the
code search. Continue until the unit turns off, then press
and release ENTER.
ZENITH and OAK Cable Boxes
Some Zenith and Oak Cable Boxes require pressing CHANNEL
DOWN rather than ENTER after numeric entry.
