R-FORCE FOR INNER DOORS – INSTALLING AND OPERATING
GENERAL INFORMATION
4
General information
R-FORCE inner door code lock is a battery-powered lock with a built-in electric lock. You
can change how long the lock is open, and it is possible to activate “access code 0” (where
the door unlocks when 0 is pressed).
The code lock is mounted directly on the inner door and programmed from the front with
up to eight 3- to 6-digit access codes and 1 code for activating and deactivating access
code 0. A unique system code provides restricted access to the programming.
Existing hardware is used, and bolt threads are assumed to have M5 dimensions. Older
locksets may use other screw dimensions which necessitate replacement of screws, levers,
retainer nuts and cylinder rings.
Otherwise, everything that is needed for mounting is included in the box. Batteries are not
included.
Compatible door locks
Some of the most common locks that R-FORCE works with:
•ASSA module locks (mount cover plate with hole facing up): 560, 562, 564, 565, 8561,
8562
•Björkboda inner door locks (mount cover plate with hole facing down): 9456, 4570,
4190
Installation
Things to keep in mind
•R-FORCE is not intended to replace a conventional secure lock. Always supplement
R-FORCE with a secure lock for maximum protection.
•Important: There should always be a mechanical alternative for emergency access to
premises controlled by electronic equipment.
•During transport the solenoid may be jostled into engaged position, enabling the
lever. To reset it, program an access code and use the code to open the door.
•The door lock must not be so worn that the lever is loose or has too much play. In
such cases a spring-loaded lever could be a solution.

INSTALLATION

•Existing bolt threads are assumed to have M5 dimensions. Older locksets may use
other screw dimensions which necessitate replacement of screws, levers, retainer
nuts and cylinder rings.
•The surface of the door must not be so uneven that R-FORCE becomes deformed
during mounting.
•For security, the gap between the door blade and the door frame should be as small
as possible.
•
Change the default system code (1234) after installation
– see page 12.

INSTALLATION
6
Step-by-step mounting instructions
1. Dismantle the lever and cylinder ring.
Retain the screws for later use.
2. Remove the lock cylinder.
3. Mount the two
steel
bolt extenders (1)
and the washers (14) on the cylinder (2).
Mount the cylinder and the cylinder
extender (3) in the lock.
If the cylinder extender is too long,
the key will be difficult to turn. In
that case, file about 1 mm off of the
cylinder extender as shown on the diagram.
4. Remove the door levers, including the square shaft.
5. Mount the lever retainer nuts (6) on the two
brass
bolt extenders (5).

6. Insert the lever shaft spring (8) and the lever shaft extender (9) into the lever (7) that is
to be on the other side of the door.
7. Mount the lever (7) in the lock.
8. Mount R-FORCE (11) on the lever shaft extender and mount the other lever (4).
9. Gently tighten the retainer bolts (10).
10. Connect the red battery wire to one battery, the black wire to the other, and insert
the batteries.
Only use alkaline batteries of type 6LR61 (9V, 550 mAh).
11. Mount the two brass bolt extenders (12) on the cylinder ring (13). Mount the cylinder
ring, cover plate (with the hole facing up if a modular lock is used) and lever. Align
R-FORCE with the door surface and tighten the bolts.
12. Program R-FORCE as described below and check that it works correctly.

CHANGING THE BATTERIES
8
Changing the batteries
The unit can respond strangely when batteries are changed. To prevent this, it is important
that the unit be without current for at least 30 seconds before the new batteries are
inserted. (Programmed codes will not be lost.)
What can happen is that the buzzer sounds constantly or that the codes do not work.
1. Remove both batteries.
2. Press
six numbers in succession
to reset the battery warning and to discharge the
voltage converter on the circuit board.
3. Leave the unit without power for at least 30 seconds.
4. Insert the batteries and screw the unit together.
If a factory reset is desired, it is suitable to do it at this time. See ”Master reset” on
page 14.

PROGRAMMING THE UNIT
9
Programming the unit
General information
In order to program the unit, it must be set to programming mode by entering the
system
code
. The default system code is 1234.
Recommendation: Change the default system code to your own code as soon as
possible. (See ”Changing the system code” on page 12.)
After entering the system code, you select a menu, depending on what you want to do.
Access codes can consist of three to six numbers.
The unit’s LED lamp can help during programming because it shows which step you are at.
The following symbols are used in the instructions to show what the lamp is doing
after
each described step:
Off
(operating mode)
Steady shine
(programming mode)
Slow flashing
(menu selected)
Fast flashing
(waiting for input)
See also ”Appendix 1: Signals in R-FORCE” on page 17.
Programming mode terminates automatically after about 20 seconds of inaction. It
can also be exited manually by pressing 0 and then #.

PROGRAMMING THE UNIT
13
Entering a code for activating and deactivating access code 0
Below are instructions for specifying a code that can be used to activate or deactivate
“access code 0” (where the door unlocks when 0 is pressed, instead of having to enter a
code as usual).
The code itself will not open the door. It’s zero (0) that opens the door.

TROUBLESHOOTING
15
Troubleshooting
Symptom Possible cause Solution
The door lever tends to
stick.
The lever shaft is too
long.
Shorten the lever shaft or the spring (20)
in the lever on the
inside
of the door.
When I enter my code,
the LED flashes and a
click is heard, but the
door cannot be
opened.
The lever shaft is not
pushed into
R-FORCE all the
way.
1. Loosen the lever on the inside.
2. Press the lever shaft in.
3. Remount the lever. Do not forget the
spring inside the lever.
The existing lever is
worn or has too
much play.
Replace the lock mechanism or mount a
spring-loaded lever.
R-FORCE was
improperly mounted
(askew).
Verify that R-FORCE is correctly
mounted, parallel with the edge of the
door and perpendicular to the door
surface (right angles to the lever shaft).
R-FORCE should also be mounted with
two screws (20) in the base plate holes.
The door surface is
warped.
May be remedied by placing washers
between housing and door surface. Fill
the seam between the door and
R-FORCE with a string of silicone.
R-FORCE is
defective.
Remove R-FORCE and send for service.
System code not
working.
The wrong system
code is being used.
To change to a new system code, reset
R-FORCE – see ”Master reset” on
page 14.
R-FORCE is not
responding. No access
codes are working.
Incorrect access
codes are being
used, or none are
configured.
Add new entry codes that unlock the
door. (See page 10.)
R-FORCE is not
responding. No codes
are working.
The batteries are
dead.
Change the batteries. (See “Changing
the batteries” on page 8.)

R-FORCE FOR INNER DOORS – INSTALLING AND OPERATING
TROUBLESHOOTING
16
Symptom Possible cause Solution
R-FORCE is working
but beeps three times
when an access code
is entered.
This is the battery
warning.
Change the batteries. (See “Changing

The buzzer sounds
constantly or no codes
are working.
During a battery
change, the new
batteries were
inserted too quickly.
See ”Changing the batteries” on page 8.
