CONNECTING
THE ANTENNA
We
have
provided
atelescoping
antennawith
your
scan-
ner.This
antennais
adequatefor
stronglocal
signals.To
install
it,simply
screw
it into
thehole
onthetopofthe
scanner.
Antennalength
controlsthe
sensitivity:
adjustthe
length
of
the telescoping
antennafor bestreception.

scanner

a
channel,
or a temporary
memory,
called
a monitor.
The
scanner
has400
channels
andten
monitor
memories.
Tomake
it easier
to identify
and
selectthechannels you
want
tolisten
to,
channels
are
dividedinto
ten
groups
of
40
channels.
Each
group
of channels
iscalled
a bank.

haps
the
bestway
toexplain
the
useofmemory
banksis
through
apractical
example.
Suppose
you want to monitor
four different
agencies:
police,
fire,
ambulance,
and
aircraft.As
arule,
each
agency
has
several
different
frequencies
they
usefor
different
pur-
poses.
The
police
might
have
four
frequencies,
onefor
eachside
oftown.
Tomake
iteasier
toquickly
determine
which
agency
you
arelistening
to,
you
could
program
the
police
frequencies
starting
with
Channel1(Bank
1).Then,
start
thefire
department
on Channel
41 (Bank
2), am-
bulance
service
onChannel
81
(Bank
3),
andaircraftfre-
quencies
on
Channel121
(Bank
4).
Now,
when
you
want
tolisten
toonlyfire
calls,it
is
simple
toturn
off
Banks
1
and
3
through
10
so
that
onlyBank

scanned.Youcould

to group
the
channels
bycityor bycounty.
Simply

When

change

scanner's
