To conneci an optionai anlen na, always
use 50-ohm coaxial cable, such as
RG.58 or BG-8. For lengths over 15m
(50 ieel), use RG-8 low-loss dielectr c
coaxia cable, lJ the coaxialcable's con-
nector does not fit in the ANTjack, you
might also need a PL-259-to-BNC an-
tenna plug adapter (not supplied) Your
local Tandy/Radio Shack siore carries a
wide variety ol coaxial anlenna cable
and connectors.
Follow the moLrnting inslructions sup-
plied with ihe antenna. Then foute the
antenrra cable lolhe scanner, and con-
nect I lo the ANT lack on the back of
the scanner
CONNECTING POWER
Your scanner uses slandard AC power
(wilh the supplied AC adapter).

You can store uplo 200 frequenc es in
your scannefs memory. You store each
frequency into a memory locaton
called a channel.
CHANNEL-STORAGE BANKS
To make I easrer to ldentily and selecl
the channelsyou wanlto istento, chan-
ne s arediv ded into 10 chan ne .slorage
banks oi 20 channels each. Use each
channel-storage ban k lo gaoup freq u en-
cies(see'Gu detotheAction Bands").
For example, suppose you want lo mo-
ntor frequencies in four different
bands; severa frequencies n each
band. To make il easierto qu cklydeter-
m ne which band you are listening to
you could program lhe lrequencies oi
the tirst band slarting with channel 1
{BankA).Then staft ihe 2nd band on
channel 21 (BankB ), the third band on
channel4l (BankC)and the last band

scanner scans through all non-locked
channels in the activated banks (see

''Lockng Out Channes ), and the

To keep from accidentaly changrng the
scaDrer's programnlrng, you can ock
llte saanner's memory by selling the
ENTER LOCKswitch on the back oflhe
scanner to oN. ll you try lo change the
scanner's programming, E,Loc ap-
pears on lhe disp ay, and the program-
ming does not change. Set the ENTER
LOCKswilch to OFFtoadd or change
inlolmation in lhe scanner's memory
