instrument. By following the steps outlined in this manual your meter will
provide years of reliable service.

calibrated during the manufacturing process to meet stated product
specications.
Safety
Never attempt to repair or modify your instrument. Dismantling your
product, other than for the purpose of replacing batteries, may cause
damage that will not be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
Servicing should only be provided by an authorized service center.

Operating Instructions
1. Turn the meter ON by pressing the button.
2. Please be advised that you must calibrate the meter before rst use.
3. To calibrate the meter, press the MEAS button while holding the
meter in an upright position so the ball sensor is in the air and at
least3to4"(8to10cm)awayfromanyobject.
4. "CAL"willdisplayontheLCDscreenwhiletheunitself-calibrates.
5. When calibration is complete, the beeping and ashing will stop, and
a measurement will be displayed. The measurement must be below
0.5%inordertotakeaccuratemeasurements.Ifnot,youmustturn
the meter off, move to a dry area and recalibrate by repeating steps 1
to 4.
NOTE: When you move from the location of your initial calibration you
must recalibrate the meter.
6. After the meter is calibrated it will automatically start to take readings.

7. To take a measurement, position the sensor so that it is directly
touching the surface being tested. The moisture sensor ball head
must be kept perpendicular to the material being measured, pressed
rmly on the surface and not slanted.
8. TheLCDdisplaysarelativemoisturereadingfrom0.0%to100.0%
withprogrammablealarmindicators(DRY,RISKandWET)–See
"AlarmSetupMode"toprogramalarms.
9. The MAX and MIN indicators display the highest and lowest readings
recorded during the measuring period.
10. To hold the current measurement press the MEAS button and the
dataholdsymbolwillappearontheLCDscreen.Inordertoresume
normal operation, press the MEAS button again.
11. After60secondsofinactivity(inDataHoldMode),themeterwill
automatically power off.
Alarm Settings
1. ThedefaultRISKalarmvalueissetat30%.TheRISKalarmvalue
canbesetbetween0%and50%.–See"AlarmSetupMode"to
program alarms.
2. ThedefaultWETalarmvalueissetat60%.TheWETalarmvalue
canbesetbetween50%and100%.–See"AlarmSetupMode"to
program alarms.
Alarm Setup Mode
1. ToadjustRISKandWETalarmvalues,themetermustbeturnedon
andcalibrated(seesteps1to4inOperatingInstructions).
2. Press the MEAS button to put the meter in data hold mode and
press the SET button.
3. TheRISKsymbolwillappearontheLCDscreenaswellasthevalue
inwhichtheRISKalarmissetto.
4. To change the alarm value, press the UP or DOWN buttons.
5. Press the SET button to save your setting and to move onto the WET
alarm value.
6. TheWETsymbolwillappearontheLCDscreenaswellasthevalue
in which the WET alarm is set to. continued...

7. To change the WET alarm value, press the UP or DOWN buttons.
8. Press the SET button to save the WET alarm value and to return to
data hold mode.
9. IfthemoisturemeasurementexceedsthesetRISKalarmsetting,the
meterwillbeepeverysecond.Ifthemoisturemeasurementexceeds
the set WET alarm setting, the meter will beep every half second.
10. Press the MEASbuttontoexitdataholdmodeandresume
normal operation.
Backlighting
Press the UP/button to turn backlighting on and off.

Battery Replacement
If appearsontheLCDscreen,thebatteriesshouldbereplaced
immediately. In order to replace the batteries, proceed with the
following steps.
1. Turn off the meter
2.
Remove the Phillips-head screw located on the battery compartment
3. Remove the battery cover
4. Replacethethree(3)"AAA"1.5Vbatteries
5. Reinstall the battery cover
