Leak Detector
1. Plugtheheadphonesintotheheadphonejack.
2. PressandholdtheTESTbutton.Youcanheara“tickingtone”
throughtheheadphones.Adjustthevolumeoftheheadphonestoa
suitablelevel,thenadjustthesensitivitytoadesiredlevel.
3. StillpressandholdtheTESTbutton.Movetheprobearoundtheseals
inthesuspectedarea.Oncethedetectorpicksupthe
ultrasonicsoundgeneratedbyaleak,the“tickingtone”willincrease
infrequencyandthe“LEAK”LEDwillturnON.Theclosertheprobe
movestowardstheleak,thefrequencyofthe“tickingtone”increases.
4. Oncetheleakislocatedandrepaired,retestwiththedetectorto
conrmthereisnoleak.
Notes
• Therearemanyfactorsinvolvedintheultrasonicleakdetection,such
asthepressurewithinthevesselundertest,holeshape,holesize,
temperature,etc.Insomecases,theultrasonicsoundemittedisvery
weak.Alwaysstartbysettingthedetector’ssensitivitytothehighest
levelatthebeginningofthetest.
• Ifthedetectedultrasonicsoundistoointensesothatitisimpossibleto
pinpointtheleakbecausethe“tickingtone”istoohigh,decrease
thesensitivity.
• Asultrasonicsoundattenuatesrapidlywhenittravelsoveradistance,move
thedetectorascloseaspossibletothesuspectedleak.Rememberto
decreasethesensitivityifnecessary.Duringlocation,movetheprobeslowly.
Transmitter
1. Turnonthetransmitter.Ifthe“POWER”LEDdoesnotlight,replace
thebattery.
2. Placethetransmitterinsidethecompartmenttobetested,then
closethecompartment.Thisultrasonicsoundemittedbythe
transmitterwillpassthroughanyoriceorfaultyseal.
3. Scantheoutsidesurfaceofthecompartmentwiththereceiver.The
ultrasonicsoundescapingfromthecompartmentwillbedetected.
