1 Safety and
usage instructions
1.1 General safety notes
Carefully read the operating manual before com-
missioning the units for the first time. It contains
useful tips and notes such as hazard warnings to
prevent personal injury and material damage.
Failure to follow the directions in this manual not
only presents a danger to people, the environment
and the system itself, but will void any claims for
liability.
Keep this operating manual and the refrigerant
data sheet near to the units.
1.2 Identification of notes
This section provides an overview of all important
safety aspects for proper protection of people and
safe and fault-free operation.The instructions and
safety notes contained within this manual must be
observed in order to prevent accidents, personal
injury and material damage.
Notes attached directly to the units must be
observed in their entirety and be kept in a fully
legible condition.
Safety notes in this manual are indicated by sym-
bols. Safety notes are introduced with signal words
which help to highlight the magnitude of the danger
in question.

to the insulation or individual components may

1.3 Personnel qualifications
Personnel responsible for commissioning, opera-
tion, maintenance, inspection and installation must
be able to demonstrate that they hold a qualifica-
tion which proves their ability to undertake the
work.
1.4 Dangers of failure to observe
the safety notes
Failure to observe the safety notes may pose a risk
to people, the environment and the units. Failure to
observe the safety notes may void any claims for
damages.
In particular, failure to observe the safety notes
may pose the following risks:
nThe failure of important unit functions.
nThe failure of prescribed methods of mainte-
nance and repair.
nDanger to people on account of electrical and
mechanical effects.
1.5 Safety-conscious working
The safety notes contained in this manual, the
existing national regulations concerning accident
prevention as well as any internal company
working, operating and safety regulations must be
observed.

1.6 Safety notes for the operator
The operational safety of the units and compo-
nents is only assured providing they are used as
intended and in a fully assembled state.
nThe units and components may only be set up,
installed and maintained by qualified per-
sonnel.
nProtective covers (grille) over moving parts
must not be removed from units that are in
operation.
nDo not operate units or components with
obvious defects or signs of damage.
nContact with certain unit parts or components
may lead to burns or injury.
nThe units and components must not be
exposed to any mechanical load, extreme
levels of humidity or extreme temperature.
nSpaces in which refrigerant can leak sufficient
to load and vent. Otherwise there is danger of
suffocation.
nAll housing parts and device openings, e.g. air
inlets and outlets, must be free from foreign
objects, fluids or gases.
nThe units must be inspected by a service tech-
nician at least once annually. Visual inspec-
tions and cleaning may be performed by the
operator when the units are disconnected from
the mains.
1.7 Safety notes for installation,
maintenance and inspection
nAppropriate hazard prevention measures must
be taken to prevent risks to people when per-
forming installation, repair, maintenance or
cleaning work on the units.
nThe setup, connection and operation of the
units and its components must be undertaken
in accordance with the usage and operating
conditions stipulated in this manual and comply
with all applicable regional regulations.
nLocal regulations and laws such as Water
Ecology Act must be observed.
nThe power supply should be adapted to the
requirements of the units.
nUnits may only be mounted at the points pro-
vided for this purpose at the factory. The units
may only be secured or mounted on stable
structures, walls or floors.
nMobile units must be set up securely on suit-
able surfaces and in an upright position. Sta-
tionary units must be permanently installed for
operation.
nThe units and components should not be oper-
ated in areas where there is a heightened risk
of damage. Observe the minimum clearances.
nThe units and components must be kept at an
adequate distance from flammable, explosive,
combustible, abrasive and dirty areas or
atmospheres.
nSafety devices must not be altered or
bypassed.
1.8 Unauthorised modification
and changes
Modifications or changes to units and components
are not permitted and may cause malfunctions.
Safety devices may not be modified or bypassed.
Original replacement parts and accessories
authorised by the manufactured ensure safety. The
use of other parts may invalidate liability for
resulting consequences.
1.9 Intended use
Depending on the design and equipment, the com-
ponents are intended exclusively for remotely
operating chillers in the KWD 25-100 (EC)
(Coanda) and WLT 30-90 EC range.
Any different or additional use shall be classed as
non-intended use. The manufacturer/supplier
assumes no liability for damages arising from non-
intended use. The user bears the sole risk in such
cases. Intended use also includes working in
accordance with the operating and installation
instructions and complying with the maintenance
requirements.
The threshold values specified in the technical
data must not be exceeded.
1.10 Warranty
For warranty claims to be considered, it is essential
that the ordering party or its representative com-
plete and return the "certificate of warranty" to
REMKO GmbH & Co. KG at the time when the
units are purchased and commissioned.
The warranty conditions are detailed in the "Gen-
eral business and delivery conditions". Further-
more, only the parties to a contract can conclude
special agreements beyond these conditions. In
this case, contact your contractual partner in the
first instance.

1.11 Transport and packaging
The devices are supplied in a sturdy shipping con-
tainer. Please check the equipment immediately
upon delivery and note any damage or missing
parts on the delivery and inform the shipper and
your contractual partner. For later complaints can
not be guaranteed.
WARNING!
Plastic films and bags etc. are dangerous
toys for children!
Why:
- Leave packaging material are not around.
- Packaging material may not be accessible to
children!
1.12 Environmental protection
and recycling
Disposal of packaging
All products are packed for transport in environ-
mentally friendly materials. Make a valuable contri-
bution to reducing waste and sustaining raw mate-
rials. Only dispose of packaging at approved
collection points.
Disposal of equipment and components
Only recyclable materials are used in the manufac-
ture of the devices and components. Help protect
the environment by ensuring that the devices or
components (for example batteries) are not dis-
posed in household waste, but only in accordance
with local regulations and in an environmentally
safe manner, e.g. using certified firms and recy-
cling specialists or at collection points.

3 Description
The cabled remote control is used for external
operation of the indoor unit chiller.
The cabled remote control must be mounted at the
desired location at a height of approx. 1.60 m and
a max. distance to the unit of 25 m.
The connection between the cabled remote control
and the unit is made via the standard plug cable (5
m length).

Operating mode
This area of the cabled remote control indicates
the current operating mode of the respective unit.
A distinction can be made here between auto-
matic, cooling, ventilation, heating and dehumidifi-
cation.

The currently selected unit address is displayed
here.

Malfunction indication
this symbol in conjunction with a flashing code “E
x” indicates a malfunction.

Network indicatorThis indicator shows the con-
nection to the internal network.

Screen Display
This indicator currently has no function.

Network key (M key + down arrow)
With this key combination it is possible to use the
group function. When this combination is pressed,
the unit address flashes and can be changed with
the up and down arrow.

Mode key
This key is used to select the various operating
modes:
nAutomatic:
The unit automatically switches between
heating and cooling to keep the room tempera-
ture constant at the setpoint.
nCooling:
The unit cools the warmer room air to the
adjusted, colder setpoint.
nDehumidification:
The unit dehumidifies the room air.
nVentilation:
The unit circulates the room air without tem-
pering it.
nHeating:
The unit heats the colder room air to the
adjusted warmer setpoint.

Arrow down
Use this key to change the setpoint downwards.

On/Off button
This key switches the cabled remote control on or
off.

Fan speed
This indicator shows the current fan speed. There
are Automatic, Silent, Low, Medium, High and
Turbo modes. If the speed stages grow repeatedly,
Automatic mode is selected. If only the lowest
speed stage is continuously indicated, the Silent
stage is selected. If the highest speed stage is indi-
cated, the Turbo stage is activated. The Low,
Medium and High stages are located between the
Silent and Turbo stages.

Up arrow
Use this key to change the setpoint upwards.

FAN key
Press this key to set the desired fan speed.

Ventilation louvre
The key combination “Up arrow” and “Fan” can be
used to set the ventilation louvre (KWD EC
Coanda excepted) to swing mode, or to set it to the
desired position by pressing it several times.

Electric auxiliary heating
This indicator currently has no function.

Ioniser
This indicator currently has no function.

Sleep mode
Sleep mode is displayed here. The unit reverts to
reduced operation.

ACTUAL/setpoint temperature indicator
This indicator shows the current room temperature.

TURBO mode
Turbo mode is displayed here. The unit moves to
the highest fan speed.

Ventilation louvre
This symbol indicates that the unit's ventilation
louvre is activated.

Switch-on/switch-off delay time
The current time is displayed in this area. In the
same area, set the times for the switch-on/switch-
off delay via the “F” function.

Switch-on/switch-off delay
This indicator shows whether a switch-on/switch-
off delay is activated.

Send symbol
This symbol is displayed when the remote control
in sending data to the indoor units.
ON/OFF
To switch the unit on or off, press the ON/OFF key.
In the switched-on status:
Operation is indicated by the symbols on the
remote control display. The display shows the
values and settings programmed before switching
off.
In the switched-off status:
The display indicates the unit address and the
selected operating mode.

Temperature
The arrow up and arrow down keys allow the
desired target temperature to be set in 1 °C steps.
This setting is not possible in recirculation mode.

FAN key
The ventilator speed can be adjusted by pressing
the FAN key. It can be selected between Silent,
Low, Medium, High, Turbo and Automatic fan
speed. In Automatic mode, the fan speed indicator
on the remote control flashes.

“Mode” operating mode
The MODE key can be used to select between the
individual operating modes. 5 operating modes are
available: “Automatic”, “Cooling”, “Dehumidifica-
tion”, “Heating”, “Recirculation” modes.

Automatic mode
In automatic mode, the regulation automatically
selects either heating or cooling mode, depending
on the set target temperature. Provided an ade-
quate heating medium or coolant with a sufficient
temperature is available, it is possible to guarantee
a constant room temperature. The fan speed
should be set to automatic.
Cooling mode
In cooling mode, the air in the room is cooled to
the set target temperature. Set the desired room
temperature by pressing the Up or Down arrow key
in 1 °C steps. If the room temperature is 1 °C
above the desired temperature and sufficient
coolant is available, the indoor unit will start to cool
the room air. If the temperature falls to approx. 0.5
°C below the set room temperature, the regulation
will switch off cooling mode.
Please note the following:
We recommend setting the target temperature to
max. 6 °C below the outside temperature.
Dehumidification mode
After selecting dehumidification mode with the
MODE key, the desired temperature and fin posi-
tion can be selected. It is not possible to set the
fan speed. The fan is switched off at certain inter-
vals to lower the fin temperature. The cooling reg-
ister cools the air below its dew-point due to the
low medium temperature - this results in the air-
borne humidity being condensed out. This reduces
the moisture content of the room air.
Recirculation mode
In this mode, the unit is used as an air circulation
unit. It is not possible to set a target temperature.
The room is neither heated nor cooled.
Please note the following:
This mode allows the heat trapped under the
ceiling to be circulated to the lower regions of the
room in winter.
Heating mode
In heating mode, the room air is heated to the pre-
determined setpoint. Set the desired room temper-
ature by pressing the Up or Down arrow key in 1
°C steps. If the room temperature is below the set
target temperature, the valve opens. If there is suf-
ficient heating medium available, the indoor unit
starts to warm up the air in the room. The fan only
starts up once the louvre temperature has reached
38 °C. If the actual temperature rises approx. 1 °C
above the set room temperature, the regulator
switches the valve off. If the louvre temperature
falls below 38°C, the fan switches off.
Please note the following:
We recommend setting the target temperature to
max. 28 °C. Maximum fan speed and the lowest
louvre setting should also be used.

Swing
Swing mode enables continuous, automatic louvre
adjustment. When switched on, the air inside the
room is distributed better. By pressing the down
arrow and fan key at the same time, the ventilation
louvre starts Swing mode. By pressing the two
keys again, the ventilation louvre remains in the
current position. The ventilation louvre is active
when it is shown on the display.

Network
To control the indoor units in a group, the network
function must be activated simultaneously by
pressing the “Mode” key and the “Down arrow” key.
After activation, the address ALL flashes in the unit
address window. Now values can be changed on
the remote control. After changing individual
values, the “Mode” button and the “Down arrow”
key are pressed together again for a short time.
The changed values are transmitted to the entire
group and the connected units acknowledge this
with 3 beeps.

The switching on and off of the units within the
group must be carried out with the address
ALL. To do this, proceed as described under
“Network”.
Within the group control, all settings in the
group are only transmitted via the address ALL.
To address units individually, the respective
slave address of the unit to be operated must
be selected in the address line.
Additional functions
Pressing the Mode key for approx. 3 seconds
takes you to the submenu. In this submenu, addi-
tional functions can be activated on the indoor
units, if they are available.
F1- Sleep function ; F2-Ioniser ; F3- Device dis-
play ; F4- Electric heating register ; F5- Switch-off
delay ; F6- Switch-on delay ; F7- Time ; F8- Digital
address assignment.
F1 Sleep function
By activating the Sleep function, the indoor unit is
set to the lowest fan speed and is therefore very
quiet.

F5 Switch-off timer
The switch-off timer can only be set when the unit
is switched on. The up and down arrow keys can
be used to set the hour or the minutes. After the
set time has elapsed, the unit switches off auto-
matically.
F6 Switch-on timer
The switch-on timer can only be set when the unit
is switched off. The up and down arrow keys can
be used to set the hour or the minutes. After the
set time has elapsed, the unit switches on auto-
matically.
F7 Time
This additional function allows the time of the
remote control to be set. The hours or minutes can
be set using the arrow down/up keys.
F8 Address assignment
It is possible to change the indoor unit address for
the indoor unit connected directly via the remote
control using the additional address setting func-
tion. In this case, the DIP switch settings on the
board are overwritten. After a power failure, the
unit addresses are specified again by the respec-
tive indoor unit board.

5 Assembly instructions
for qualified personnel
Check the contents of the packaging for complete-
ness and check the unit for visible transport
damage. Immediately notify your contract partner
of any deficiencies.
DANGER!
All electrical installation work is to be performed
by specialist companies. Disconnect the power
supply when connecting the electrical terminals.
Check all plugged and clamped terminals to
verify that they are seated correctly and make
permanent contact. Tighten as required.
6 Installation
nRoute the four-wire plug cable between the
installation location of the cabled remote con-
trol and the switch box of the unit. If the 5 m
plug cable is not long enough, the cable must
be disconnected at any point and extended by
the customer.
nEnsure that there are no electric fields in the
installation area.
nRemove the mounting back panel from the
cabled remote control.
nUsing a small screwdriver, lever the housing
halves of the cabled remote control apart at the
bottom of the slots.
nSeparate the two halves from each other with a
larger lever movement at both slots.
nNow mount the rear panel of the housing at the
desired installation location at a height of
approx. 1.60 m.

nConnect the plug cable to the socket [A] of the
cabled remote control.
A
nLock the housing front of the cabled remote
control in the mounting rear panel. There must
be no mechanical stress on the circuit board.
nRoute the plug cable and connect the plug in
the LCON slot provided for this purpose on the
unit board.
nCarry out a test of all functions of the cabled
remote control after installation.

7 Commissioning
1. Switch the unit on using the cabled remote
control.
The cabled remote control is active.
2. Check all key functions.
The display of the cabled remote control
changes accordingly.
3. Mount all removed parts.
4. Familiarise the operator with the functions.
8 Error indication by code
The following table provides brief information for coded error displays. Please also refer to the chapter enti-
tled “Troubleshooting and customer service” in the operating manual of the chiller and, if necessary, contact
a specialist company to check the system.
Various malfunctions are detected by the cabled remote control and shown on the display. In this case a
spanner symbol appears on the display. UNIT no longer contains the address of the cassette, but the error
code that can be seen in the table.
