Charging Your External Battery for the Stellar™150
Keep the battery connected to the charger and
charging at all times. Make sure the charger is
plugged into a properly grounded 3 prong electrical
outlet. Always disconnect the battery from the
charger before connecting to your respiratory
device. Prior to disconnecting the battery from the
charger, unplug the charger from the electrical
outlet for safety.
Locate the battery Hubbell connector (white end) and
the charger Hubbell connector (black end with red and
black wiring)
Connect the battery to the charger making sure to
“twist” lock the connectors together clockwise. Test
that the connections are firmly attached by pulling on
the connectors. They should remain attached. Plug
the red plug from the charger into a properly
grounded 3-prong electrical outlet.
When charging, the yellow LED will flash to indicate the battery is in the
charging state. This light will go off and the green on LED will come on to
indicate the battery is charged. Keep the battery connected at all times to
the charger, plugged in, to ensure a fully charged battery when it is
needed. Once fully charged, the charger will automatically go into
“hibernation” mode, keeping the battery charged by checking the charge
every 24 hours and charging the battery if needed.

Under normal operation, the AC LED will
light up green indicating there is power to
the Stellar™150.
With an electrical outage, the Battery LED will
illuminate indicating the Stellar™150 is using the
internal battery for power.
“Internal Battery in Use!” will appear at the top
of the Treatment screen.
The battery icon will indicate the amount (%) of
charge left in the internal battery. (see note
below)
The Alarm LED will illuminate and an audible
tone alarm will sound. Press the alarm button to
silence the alarm.

If the external battery is needed for
emergency backup power, always unplug
the battery charger unit first.
Disconnect the battery from the charger.
Remember: to disconnect the two Hubbell
connectors, hold the connectors firmly and
twist counterclockwise, then pull apart.
Note:
When the internal battery capacity falls to 30% (indicated by the battery icon display), an alarm will
appear “Internal Battery Low!” and the message “The battery charge is low!Connect the device to
the mains power supply”, will appear as well as a 3 tone audible alarm will be be activated. The
alarm may be silenced, however, if the mains power supply is still not available (power failure) the
user should connect the external battery for use.
When the internal battery capacity falls to 15% (indicated by the battery icon display), a message
will appear “Internal Battery Empty”, and a 5 tone audible alarm will be activated. The alarm may be
silenced, however, the external battery must be connected to the device in order to continue
therapy, as the device will shut down within 2 minutes.
When the internal battery capacity falls to 10%, the device will power down and therapy will stop
without any further audible or visual alarms. The device must be connected to mains power. If
mains power is still unavailable, the device will need to be powered by the external battery to allow
continued therapy. Note: Connecting the device to the external battery will not recharge the
internal battery, and the device operation is dependent on the external battery charge status.
To resume therapy following a complete power down from an empty internal battery, power must
be supplied by the mains power if available, or an external battery. You must restart therapy using
the main power switch located at the back of the device.
Upon resumption of mains power, make sure the device is plugged in to the mains power and the
device. Disconnect the external battery when mains power becomes available.Don’t forget to
disconnect the external battery from the device and reconnect it to the battery charger to allow the
external battery to recharge and be available for use, fully charged.

You have been supplied with cables and
connections to plug into your external battery
and into the Stellar™150 device.
These cables may have come attached or may
have to be assembled prior to use. It is a good
idea to have your cable assembled and ready for
use in the event of a power failure. Store them,
ready for use and connected, near your device so
you don’t have to look for them in the event of a
power failure.
Connect the black Hubbell
connector from your cable to the
white ended Hubbell connector
from the external battery, making
sure they are firmly attached by
turning clockwise to connect
If the connector is not already attached, make sure the
black cap is removed from the end of the cable.
Insert the auxiliary power connector firmly into the
uncapped connector insuring a snug fit.

The auxiliary power connector has an ON (I) and OFF
(O) toggle switch.
Make sure the toggle switch is in the ON (I) position.
The other end of the cable attaches to your Stellar™150
device.
The DC power inlet is located at the back of the device,
beside the main power inlet. It has a flat side as well as a
rounded corner side. Make sure the cable, which also has
a flat and rounded side is positioned properly before
insertion.
Insert the connector firmly into the DC power inlet, making
sure it is firmly seated in place.
Leave the main power cord in place, there is no need to
remove it when using the external battery. Once power is
restored, the device will automatically revert to mains AC
power.

battery, the Treatment screen will

out in yellow to indicate it is not in
use.
The top of the screen will show
“External DC Power in Use!”
Push the Alarm silence button to
disable the audible alarm, the yellow
LED will stay illuminated to warn the
external battery is in use.

long as it remains plugged in to mains power. It is a good idea to leave the device plugged in
even when you are using the external battery.
Remove the DC cable from the inlet at the back of the device, and disconnect the Hubbell
connector from the backup battery.
Be sure to connect the battery back up to the charger and make sure the charger is plugged
