Battery operation
1. Remove the battery cover on the back of the unit by sliding the
cover in the direction of the arrow.
2. Insert 2 x LR6 (AA size) batteries into the spaces in the
compartment. Take care to ensure all batteries are inserted with
the correct polarity as shown inside the battery compartment.
Replace the cover.
3. When the batteries are exhausted the radio will go off. Reduced
power, distortion and a ‘stuttering’ sound are all signs that the
batteries may need replacing.
4. If the radio is not used for any extended period of time it is
recommended that the batteries are removed from the radio.
5. Battery replacement does not cause the station list or preset
stations to be lost.
Important: The batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat
such as sunshine, fire or the like. After use, disposable batteries
should if possible be taken to a suitable recycling centre. On no
account should batteries be disposed of by incineration.

Keylock function
The Keylock function is used to prevent unintentional operation
of your radio.
1. Set the Lock switch located on the rear of your radio to the 'Lock'
position. The On/Off and all other buttons will be disabled. This
will prevent accidental operation when your radio is packed in
a suitcase or travel bag. If a button is accidentally pressed then
‘Button Locked’ will show on the display.
2. To release the Lock switch, move the lock switch to the ‘Unlock'
position.

Navigation
This page describes the basic means of controlling your Sports
DAB 5. Instructions for each operating mode are given in the later
sections of this book.
1. Press and hold in the Jog wheel to access the main menus.
2. Many operations require the user to make a selection from the
menus. Push the Jog wheel Up or Down to highlight the desired
menu item and then press the Jog wheel to select that item.
Arrows are used to show that there are more items in that menu.
3. If an error is made or you wish to go to the previous screen there
is a ‘Back’menu item in most menus. Push the Jog wheel Up
or Down until ‘Back’ is highlighted on the display and press the
Jog wheel to select. After a period of inactivity the display will
revert to the previous information display.

Earphones
The lead connecting the earphones to your radio acts as an aerial
when plugged into the Earphone socket. The lead should be fully
extended as much as possible to increase reception.
1. Plug the earphones into the Earphone socket on the top of your
radio.
2. Check that the Volume level is not too loud before placing the
ear-pieces into your ears.
