PERFORMANCE EFFECTS &
CONTROL FUNCTIONS
Capture pro-quality digital audio with the SP-606’s 8-voice sampling
engine. You can record audio from the built-in stereo inputs and digital
input, or via USB for drag & drop WAV/AIFF file exchange. Sounds can
also be recorded directly from the USB port using the SP-606’s USB-Audio
mode (supports WDM and ASIO). Twist, bend, slice, and sculpt your
samples with editing features such as Chop and Resample. Audio loops
can be time-stretched and locked to your sequences in real time thanks to
the SP-606’s BPM sync control and internal 4-track MIDI sequencer, which
is capable of storing approximately 18,000
notes. The large, backlit LCD provides
clear, friendly access to waveforms and
sequence data, even in the darkest studio
or stage environment.
The SP-606 can be used as a
full-featured standalone sampler or as a USB companion for the bun-
dled P606 software app (PC compatible, included free with the
SP-606). Designed by the creative braintrust at Cakewalk, P606
provides a powerful array of phrase generation, soft synthesis, and
virtual effects — the end results of which can be controlled by or
transferred to the SP-606, eliminating the need for a static CD library.
P606 is packed with virtual
instruments, multi-channel effects, and even a loop sequencer.
Generate custom phrases from the P606’s three software
synthesizers — GrooveSynth,
PSYN Mini Analog, and
GroovePlayer (a loop
manipulator for WAV/ACIDized
files) — under the control of the
built-in 16-track sequencer.
Eight effects plug-ins and a
mixer are included as well. The
SP-606 can seamlessly
control, import, edit, and play
back the tracks you create
with P606.
SP-606 is built for the studio and stage.Your fingers will love the luxurious
velocity-sensitive pad bank, complete with Roll and Hold buttons. The Sub Pad
function* allows you to access the same sound from two Pads — ideal for
performing manual drum rolls. Wave your hands over the D Beam controller,
and inject wildly expressive, visually impressive modulation into your
performances. You can also manipulate video in real time with the V-LINK
function (when used with Edirol’s DV-7PR or P-1, sold separately). The serial
dual effects engines in the SP-606 provide instant access to 45 top-quality
algorithms — including Isolator, Filter+Drive, Slicer, Reverb, Tape Echo, plus
new effects such as Feedback Ripper and Space-D — which can be tweaked
in real time via knobs and D Beam. For polished, radio-ready final mixes, you
can tap into the SP-606’s suite of Mastering Effects. Export your masterpieces
with crystal-clear quality via the SP-606’s digital output.
The SP-606 is loaded with sample editing tools. The External Sequence
Sampling function* allows the SP-606 to automatically capture loops and
phrases from external sequencers — whether from the bundled P606
software or external hardware devices such as Roland’s MC-909. How it
works is sinfully simple: The SP-606 sends the sequencer a start signal via
MIDI, then it samples the audio driven by the sequencer, sends a stop
command, and truncates the audio automatically. Building your own
custom library of sample loops has never been easier.
Enjoy unprecedented plug-and-play convenience, speed, and massive
storage capacity with the SP-606’s CompactFlash card
slot. Record over 6 hours (!) of audio, and import/export
WAV and AIFF files (up to 512MB simultaneously) without
the need for a separate CompactFlash reader/writer. Long
load times are a thing of the past.
