3.2. with ISOFIX fastening and TopTether anchoring
The advantage of using the TopTether
The RÖMER DUO plus version with TopTether makes an additional stabilising
connection possible between the child seat fastened with ISOFIX and the vehicle
seat, thus reducing the injury risk even further.
The TopTether is placed in a fabric pocket on the top rear edge of your RÖMER
DUO plus. If you have purchased a RÖMER DUO plus without TopTether, you
can buy it as accessory from your specialised shop.
Important
The TopTether anchor must only be used in vehicles which have a vehicle-
specific approval (see type approval list).
If your vehicle is equipped with one of the three TopTether metal anchorage
points, they will be:
•on the rear shelf
•on the floor
•behind the backrest
Please observe the recommendations of your vehicle manual. Do not modify your
vehicle by drilling or bolting something in. Never fasten the TopTether to a
location which has not been recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. If the
TopTether comes loose in a crash, there is a danger of injury to the vehicle
passengers.
After adjusting the shoulder belts (refer to 4.1 ) fasten the child seat with ISOFIX
and TopTether as follows:
1. Prepare ISOFIX
Clip the two insertion guides* 1to the two
ISOFIX fastening points 28 of the vehicle

backrests, the insertion guides must be removed before folding down
the backrest.

and on the hooks. This problem can be solved by cleaning these
points.

7. General instructions
•The protective effect of this child safety seat is only assured provided it is
used and installed according to the directions for use.
•If you have any difficulty using the child safety seat, please contact the
manufacturer.
•The child safety seat has been designed, tested and approved to the
requirements of the European Regulation for Child Safety Equipment (ECE
44/03). The approval E (ringed) and approval number are found on the
approval label attached to the child safety seat.
•No modifications may be made to the child safety seat other than by the
manufacturer. If modifications are made, the official approval is no longer
valid.
To retain the protective effect
•The child safety seat could suffer damage in an accident at a collision speed
above 10 km/h. In such cases, the child safety seat must be inspected by the
manufacturer or replaced, if necessary.
•Regularly check all important parts for damage. Ensure the correct operation
of all mechanical components.
•Should the child safety seat be damaged (for instance after dropping it), it
must be inspected by the manufacturer.
•Take care to ensure that the child safety seat does not become trapped
and therefore damaged by a moveable vehicle seat or in the door of your

To protect all vehicle passengers
•With all personal safety systems, it is essential to ensure that the backrest of
the vehicle seat is adequately secured and that no heavy or sharp-edged
objects are carried in the passenger compartment (e.g. on the rear shelf)
in order to reduce any risk of injury.
•All occupants of the vehicle must also be secured.
•Whenever you are driving, always be sure to secure the child seat, even
when it is unoccupied.
To protect your child
•For maximum protection the following rule applies: the closer the harness
lies to the body of the child, the better the protection.
•Use in the back seat: Slide the front seat forward far enough that the child’s
feet do not contact the backrest of the front seat (danger of injury).
•Please do not leave your child alone and unsupervised in the vehicle seat
or in the vehicle itself.
•Ensure that your child only gets into and out of the vehicle on the side where
the pavement is.
•To prevent your child from being exposed to unnecessary heat, do not leave
the child safety seat in bright sunshine when it is not in use.
•Make plenty of breaks during a long journey so that your child has plenty of
opportunity to move around and use up his/her energy.
To protect your vehicle
•Some vehicle seat covers of sensitive materials (e.g. velour, leather etc.) can
show marks when using children´s vehicle seats. These marks can be avoided
by placing a blanket or towel on the vehicle seat.
8. Care instructions
Please note that you may only use original RÖMER replacement seat covers, because
the seat cover fulfils an essential part of the system functions. Replacement seat
covers are available from your stockist. The child seat must not be used without the
seat cover.
•The cover can be removed and washed with a mild detergent in luke warm
water (30 °C, gentle). Please also observe the washing instructions exactly. If
washed at more than 30 °C, the colours of the cover material can fade. Do not
spin or tumble dry (fabric may seperate from padding)! The plastic insert can
remain in the cover during the wash.
•The plastic parts can be cleaned with soapy water. Do not use harsh
cleaning agents (like solvents).
•The harness can be removed and washed in luke warm soapy water.
Caution! Never pull the belt tongues 19 off the shoulder belts.
