OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The ROMUS PICO groover, with incorporated guiding system, is used for grooving joints in
PVC and linoleum floor coverings prior to hot welding.
With this tool, you can effortlessly form a regular, uniform "U" groove along the entire length
of the joint without the need for a straight-edge.
OPERATION
Caution: keep the work area clean to avoid damage to the blade.
1. Start the groove against the skirting, with the blade facing the wall.
2. Insert the guide in the joint between the two strips and slide the PICO along the joint
while pushing it against the floor.
3. According to your preference, push or pull the grooving tool along the entire length of
the joint.
4. When you reach the opposite skirting, simply turn the groover to face the opposite
direction (with the blade facing the wall, the same position as at the start), and
complete the remaining few centimetres.

SETTINGS
Groove depth adjustment
1. Loosen the blade locking knob (B) half a turn.
2. Adjust the cutting depth by means of the adjustment knob (A).
3. Retighten the blade locking knob (B).
4. Cut a trial groove a few centimetres long:
-if the depth needs adjusting, repeat steps 1 to 4 until the desired result is obtained.
-if the cutting depth is correctly set continue forming the groove.
Guide depth adjustment
The guide is set to a depth of 1.5mm in the factory to cater for the most common applications.
It may, however, need adjusting for specific applications (cutting grooves in very thick or very
thin floor coverings, cleaning).
1. Loosen the retaining screw (E).
2. Alter the height of the guide (D) by pulling or pushing it into the desired position.
3. Retighten the retaining screw (E).

MAINTENANCE
Replacing the blade (ref 095122)
1. Loosen the locking knob (A).
2. Lower the blade by turning the adjustment knob (B) until it turns freely.
3. Pull the blade holder assembly (F) out of its housing.
4. If only one side of the blade is worn: turn the whole assembly around
If both side are worn: unscrew the retaining screw (G) by two turns, replace the blade
and retighten the retaining screw, (G) ensuring the parts are correctly aligned.
5. Insert the blade holder in its housing and raise it by turning the knob.
Precautions
The PICO must always be stored in its protective cover to avoid scratching the sole plate
(rubbing surface).
Always remove any glue residue from the sole plate and the guide after use.
THE GROOVING TECHNIQUE
Consists in cutting a groove along a joint between two floor covering elements glued edge-to-edge
(less than 1 mm)
Depth of groove:
for homogeneous floor coverings: 2/3 of the thickness.
for non-homogeneous floor coverings: only the wear layer.
