Installation Considerations
The installation, operation, and maintenance of the product should be performed only by
qualified, competent personnel that have received appropriate training for high voltage and
current devices.

If hazardous voltages are mishandled while installing and operating the product in the field, it
can cause serious injury or death.
◼During normal operation of the product, hazardous voltages are present on the
terminals that connect PTs/CTs, digital inputs, power, and external I/O circuits. The
PT/CT secondary can produce lethal voltage or current caused by the energy of the
primary.
◼Standard safety precautions should be followed during the installation and maintenance
of the product, including removing PT fuses and shorting CT secondaries.
◼Install the product in enclosures or a similar cabinet to prevent access to the terminal

strips of the product after wiring.
Caution
Observe the following instructions, or it may cause permanent damage to the product.
◼Do not apply voltages and currents that exceed the input ratings of the PT and CT to the
product.
◼Using the device for other purposes not specified by the manufacturer can cause severe
damage to the product.
◼Connect the chassis ground terminal of the product to the earth ground to protect the
device from noise and surge. Failure to properly connect the chassis ground will void
the warranty of the product.

Warranty
Rootech Inc. provides warrants for two years from the product receipt date only to the original
purchaser of the products and software that are sold or licensed by the company.
To obtain warranty service, the purchased products should be free from serious defects in material
and workmanship.
The software is provided in an up-to-date version, thus we do not offer any warranty for the
software product.
In order to make a product claim under the warranties described above, the original purchaser
should immediately contact Rootech headquarters. Upon receiving claims, Rootech will check out
the product either at where the purchaser is or at the company after receiving the product from
the customer, who is responsible for the cost of shipping the product. After inspecting the product,
we will provide repair or replacement services for the product.
Rootech will decide at its discretion whether to repair or replace it or give a refund for the product
for when the warranty period for the product expired or issues related to the product are not
applicable for warranty terms and conditions.
Limitation of Warranty
The Warranty does not apply to uninterrupted or error-free operation of the product or cover
normal wear and tear of the product or costs caused by the removal, installation, or
troubleshooting of the customer's electrical systems.
Defects caused by any of the following factors are not covered under the warranty. Improper
use(alteration, accident, misuse, abuse) or failure to act in accordance with installation, operation
or maintenance instructions.

◼Damages coming from when transporting or storing the product

Rootech shall not be liable for any other claims except the claims made by customers, including
the original purchaser, his employees, agents, or contractors for any loss, damage, or expense
incurred related to the purchased product when the above warranty terms and conditions are not
fulfilled.
Any technical assistance with system design provided by Rootech's personnel or representatives
shall be deemed to be a suggestion. The original purchaser is responsible for determining the
feasibility of such suggestions and should conduct tests to prove their feasibility.
It is the original purchaser’s responsibility to determine the suitability of the product and

Chapter 1 Introduction
Overview
Cost-effective Power Meter Providing Digital/Analog Inputs and Outputs
Accura 3500 is an integrated digital power meter that performs power measurements and also
provides digital/analog inputs and outputs. It is cost-effective in that it perfectly suits the needs of
managing various digital and analog inputs and outputs in the field. Thus, Accura 3500
eliminates the need to buy extra RTU products. It can be widely used in manufacturing plants, IBS,
semiconductor plants, etc, where power measurements and the management of inputs and
outputs are required.
Accurate Measurements/ Power Quality Data Available
Measurement accuracy is a key factor that determines the reliability of energy management
systems. Low measurement accuracy causes inconsistency between the energy of the incoming
feeder and the sum of energy measured on the load side. It makes it difficult to perform reliable
energy management. Accura 3500 provides highly accurate measurements of voltage and current
(±0.2% of reading) and meets IEC62053-22 class 0.5S for power and energy measurements. It
helps to address problems caused by measurement errors and allows for efficient energy
management. Accura 3500 provides power quality data such as voltage/current THD, harmonics,
and K-Factor.
Proven Safety and Reliability with CE/UL Certifications
The internal and external structures(the product and circuit design) of Accura 3500 meet safety
requirements for CE(IEC61010) and UL(UL61010-2, 2nd edition) standards. The busbar provided
with the product allows for easier wiring of CTs when installing the product. The busbar minimizes
fire hazards by ensuring safety under an overcurrent condition. And the optic interface between
the meter and connected modules removes risks of electrical hazards.
Easily Attachable I/O Modules
A variety of I/O expansion modules can be easily attached to the rear side of the Accura 3500
device. The I/O modules available include the digital input, digital output, analog input, and
analog output modules. Users can purchase the module they need when ordering the Accura
3500 device.

Applications
True RMS Measurements
Nonlinear loads mainly used in the field include rectifiers and electric furnaces and cause
harmonics that involve severe voltage and current waveform distortion. Accura 3500 performs
true RMS measurements for voltage and current waveforms distorted due to harmonics.
Power Quality Analysis
Accura 3500 provides data on voltage and current THD and K-Factor and allows for the analysis
of voltage and current harmonics up to the 31st order. It allows for effective analysis of power
quality by providing real time data on voltage and current waveforms.
Easily Expandable Module Structure to Suit Various Needs in the Field
I/O expansion modules can be easily added to the rear side of Accura 3500. Thus, its modular
structure helps to meet requirements for various applications in the field. In the existing
IBS(Intelligent Building System), all I/O modules should be connected to the DDC panel. It results
in increased costs and reduced system reliability. The DDC panel can be easily replaceable with
Accura 3500 since the device performs the function of the DDC panel. With reduced costs and
greater system reliability, Accura 3500 helps to establish optimized intelligent building systems.
Ideal for Replacing Analog Meters
Accura 3500 meets both NSI C39.1(4" Round) and DIN 96 standards for installation. It features
the installation dimensions same as those of analog meters. Thus, there is no need to create
cutouts on the panel when installing Accura 3500 in the existing switchgear panels. It makes it
easy to replace analog meters with digital meters.
Highly Reliable Energy Management
Energy management include monitoring energy consumption, managing energy costs and energy
demand, replacing energy facilities, and performing energy planning. In this regard,
measurement accuracy is a key factor that determines the reliability of energy management
systems. Accura 3500 provides highly accurate measurements of voltage and current (±0.2% of
reading) and meets IEC62053-22 class 0.5S for power and energy measurements. It allows for
efficient energy management through accurate measurements

Environmental Conditions
The Accura 3500 should be mounted in a dry, dirt free location away from heat sources and very
high electric fields. To operate properly and effectively, environmental conditions should range

Caution
The meter should be installed in a switchgear cabinet or similar enclosure to ensure the terminal strips
on the meter base are not user accessible after installation.
Mount the meter in a dry location free from dirt and corrosive vapors. Once installed, no cleaning of
the device is necessary.

Step 1: Mounting
Sequence
1. Remove connector on the bottom of the meter.
2. Fit the meter into cutout[ANSI 4”or DIN96].
3. Fix the meter onto the panel by turning the mounting nut. When conforming to the
DIN96 standard, there is no need to drill holes on the panel.

Caution
In three phase 3 wire open delta direct connection mode, line to line voltage should not exceed
457V.
PT[Potential Transformer]
PTs are required for all systems with voltage levels greater than these above. The meter inputs can
be used with PTs that have secondaries rated between AC 0V and 457V. PTs should comply with
IEC61010-1 2nd Edition, Pollution Degree 2, Overvoltage Category Ⅲ.
Caution
In case where PTs are required, fuses should be installed on the secondary of the PTs.
