INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing ROVE™ R2-4K Ultra HD 2880x2160 @ 24fps Digital
Vehicle Dash Cam (Automobile Black Box). This product provides high quality
image capture and irrefutable evidence for what goes on from the perspecve
of your dashboard. Rove Dash Cam is a very elegant, convenient and durable
mul-vehicle deriving recorder.
Product Overview:
This Product is a leading Ultra HD Digital Vehicle Black Box Recorder. Equipped
with ULTRA-HD 2160P @24fps with NOVATEK NT-96660 processor + OV4689
4MP CMOS sensor for excellent low light sensivity and high dynamic range
which allows you to record connuous high-quality video playbacks, it brings
phenomenal 4K Ultra-HD resoluon videos even at night me without the
need for infrared sensors. It has superior night vision technology which
captures super low light during night me. It has advanced built-in Wi-Fi,
built-in GPS, G-Sensor, Emergency Video lock buon, Audio recording, Loop
cycle recording, Moon detecon, Parking mode, HDMI output. When

WARNING: FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS COULD RESULT IN
SERIOUS ACCIDENT, INJURY OR EVEN DEATH.
Please read and understand all instrucons before using this product. If any damage is
caused by failure to follow the instrucons, the warranty will be voided.
 Do not put the unit in a damp environment. This machine is not designed
with waterproong features. Please do not expose to water of any kind,
including rain water.
 Do not try to open the cover or try to repair it yourself. If the accessories
for this machine have any problem, please contact the seller for assistance.
 This camera is intended to use inside motor vehicle. Don’t install it
where it will block the driver’s view of the road inducing mirrors or the
deployment of airbags.
 Do not place the camera loose on top of the dashboard or in-front of the air bags.
 Do not mount the camera where it can become distracon if it became
loose and falls of the windshield while driving.
 Do not expose this machine to an excessive heat, dust or use any chemical
substance or cleaning solvent to clan this machine. Instead please use so,
moist cloth for cleaning.
 Pay careful aenon when cleaning the lens surface. Use a so, moist
cloth to clean the lens to avoid compromising video quality.
 Removing the camera from the vehicle when not is use is recommended.
This prevent likelihood of the or exposure to excessive heal to prevent
damage to unit.
 Do not operate or install the camera while driving, or aempt to change
any sengs etc. Pull o the road rst and only do so when it is safe.
 Do not drop, puncture or disassemble this product.
 Do not use the charger if the cord is broken or damaged.
 Keep out of reach of children
 Some countries or USA states prohibit drivers from mounng anything on
windshield or prohibit mounng on certain area of the windshield. It is
owner/operator’s responsibility to mount or use of this device in
compliance with local laws.
 Do not leave the camera in the direct sunlight for a long period of me or
where temperature could go above 140°F (60°C)

1 BUILT-IN GPS
This is your built-in GPS antenna for GPS Geo-Tagging.
2 WINDSHIELD MOUNT LATCH
This is where you connect your camera to windshield sucon cup mount.
How to install windshield mount and camera assembly?
(1) Before installing, remove plasc protecve lm & clean windshield
area (If Grease or dust is present sucon will not be strong)
(2) Make sure the locking knob is set to unlocked posion.
(3) While applying pressure to sucon cup base towards windshield from
locking knob, rotate the locking knob towards LOCK posion.
This should create the strong sucon between windshield and the
mount.
(4) Now you can connect the camera with long mini USB power cable,
then slide the camera to the windshield mount’s bracket hook unl
snug t.
How to remove sucon cup windshield mount?
To unmounts, turn the locking knob to the unlock posion and
then li the plasc ap on the base to release the sucon and then
windshield mount.
3 TV OUT
This is where you can plug in your tradional RGB TV Out cable.
4 MICRO SD CARD SLOT
Micro SD Card, MAX Support up to 128 GB.
Micro SD Card NOT Included and it is required for camera operaon.
How to Insert & Remove Micro SD Card?
• TO INSERT: First, make sure you align Micro-SD Card correctly as
directed on camera slot. If card does not slide in smoothly do NOT force
insert it. Please re-check its correct alignment before proceeding.
• Gently insert rst half of Micro SD card into slot then use your nger
nail / paper clip to PUSH inwards unl it clicks and locks.
• TO REMOVE: Gently use your nger nail / paper clip to PUSH Micro SD
card inwards unl it clicks and pops out, then you can pull it out of the slot.

5 POWER ON/OFF OR PHOTO BUTTON
• Power ON: Press once to turn the camera ON.
• Power OFF: Press and HOLD to turn the camera OFF.
How to take Photos?
• Press once while video is being recorded to take photo.

7 MINI-USB POWER INPUT / DATA OUTPUT SLOT
• Power Input: Connect included mini USB long DC Car charger to
provide power to the camera. When you start your car it will provide
power to the camera. This will auto turn ON camera and auto start
recording video if Micro SD card is inserted. When you shut o & turn
the key to LOCK posion your car will disconnect power, then camera’s
internal baery will take over, it will stop the current video that is being
recorded, save that last video le safely and it will auto turn OFF your
camera within few seconds.
• Data Output: You can connect your camera directly to you PC / MAC
via included mini-USB data cable to download or view video les to
your computer directly.
• P.S. (Please do NOT use “Windows Media Player” to play this high bit-
rate videos. We recommend downloading free VLC Media Player to
enjoy stream less high quality vides from your ROVE Dash Cam.

8 HDMI OUT
Connect your camera via mini-HDMI output to HDMI HD Television input to
view Videos directly on your television or monitor.

9MODE BUTTON (WE WILL REFER THIS BUTTON TO AN (“M”) BUTTON)
This buon acts as two funcons. MENU & MODE Buon. In General,
Camera will always start in VIDEO Mode aer a shutdown of the camera or
aer turning o Wi-Fi.
If video is being recorded, press OK Buon to STOP video recording rst,
before you can access MENU or switch between any of the three MODEs.
MENU: Pressing this buon ONCE will act as MENU Buon.
MODE: Pressing & Holding for 2-seconds will act as MODE Buon. To
switch between 3-Modes Press & Hold (“M”) buon.
Mode Buon: ROVE R2-4K has three dierent modes: (1) Video Mode, (2)
Photo Mode and (3) Playback Mode. (See Page 13 for detailed explanaon)
Each mode has their own parcular MENU Sengs.
SYSTEM SETTINGS are common between all 3-modes.
While Under Video Mode: (Look Top Le of LCD to conrm Video Mode icon)
• Press OK Buon to Start/Stop Recording
• Press UP Buon to Mute/Un-mute Audio Recording with Video.
• Press Down Buon to Turn OFF/ON LCD (Camera Sll Stays ON if you
use this buon. RED LED indicator conrms camera is sll ON).
• Press MENU(“M”) Buon to enter VIDEO MODE’S MENU SETTINGS.
Press MENU (“M”) buon again will enter SYSTEM SETTINGS. Pressing
(“M”) buon again will exit MENU.
• Press & Hold (“E”) Emergency Lock Buon to turn Wi-Fi ON / OFF
While Under Playback Mode: (Look Top Le of LCD to conrm PlayBack Mode icon)
• To Play Video/ View Photo: Select Desired Video/Photo le by using
(“UP”) /(“DOWN”) Buons > Press (“OK“) Buon to Play that Video File.
Press (“DOWN”) Buon once to Fast Forward video to 2X…4X…8X.
Press (“UP”) Buon to reverse Fast forward one step at a me.
• Press MENU(“M”) Buon to enter PLAYBACK MODE’S MENU
SETTINGS. Press MENU (“M”) buon again will enter SYSTEM
SETTINGS. Pressing (“M”) buon again will exit MENU.
• Press & Hold (“E”) Emergency Lock Buon to turn Wi-Fi ON / OFF

While under any Mode’s Sengs or System Sengs: Press to scroll UP
While under Video Mode or during video is being recorded: Press to Mute
ON/OFF for Audio Recording.
While under Photo Mode: Press to digital ZOOM-IN up to 2.9X
While under Playback Mode: Press to scroll up, or while video is playing
press to Reverse Fast Forward one step at a me.
11 EMERGENCY VIDEO LOCK / WI-FI ON-OFF BUTTON
How to Lock the video that is currently being recorded Manually?
While Video is Being Recorded:
• Press Emergency Lock buon (Add buon Icon here) Once to Manually
Lock the Current Video that is being recorded.
P.S. (1) (The manually locked video by emergency lock buon will not
be deleted by loop cycle Recording Funcon. It can only be deleted
manually aer an un-protecng it from the camera or by you can do so
by inserng memory card directly to your computer)
P.S. (2) Emergency Locked Videos will be marked by (Add buon Icon
here) under Video Playback Mode.
P.S. (3) You can also access this Locked Videos by connecng your
Camera directly to computer or Connecng Micro SD card to your
computer. Event Locked videos will be marked in a separate Folder
name “LOCKED Files”

While under any Mode’s Sengs or System Sengs: Press to Scroll Down
While under Video Mode or during video is being recorded: Press to Turn
OFF/ON LCD. (Please Note that Camera Sll Stays ON)

While under Video Mode: Press Once to START / STOP Recording.
While in Photo Mode: Press once to take Photo
While Under Playback Mode: Press to Select / Play Video or View Photo
While under any Mode’s Menu or System Sengs: Press to OK to enter
specic menu and to Conrm any Selecon.

DOWNLOADING ROVE APP
Search for "ROVE" in App Store or Google Play Store to nd
the App and then download and install it.
Note:
Apple logo & App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.,
Google logo and Google Play are trademarks of Google Inc.
CONNECTING ROVE R2-4K DASH CAM WITH SMART PHONE:
1. TURN WIFI ON from ROVE Dash Cam rst, by Pressing & Holding emergency lock buon
for 2-seconds. This will turn ON WiFi router (signal) from the dash cam.
2. CONNECT WIFI from your Smart Phone: Go to Phone’s Sengs > WiFi >
Select ROVE R2-4K Dash Cam WiFi PASSWORD: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
3. Now open ROVE App to view live video stream, view/download recorded
videos & even change sengs.
(When you open the App, it should be paired automacally with dash cam if
your phone is connected to WiFi correctly with ROVE R2-4K Dash Cam WiFi)
14 RESET
If you are having problems with the camera funcons or freezing issue, it is
recommended that you ulize Reset buon to Reset the camera.
How to Reset:
Insert a pin or paper clip into the reset slot while camera is ON, then press
and hold unl camera is turned o and It will restart automacally.
15 MIC
Built in MIC to record Audio with Video. Default Seng is ON.
16 SPEAKER
This is where built in speaker is located.
17 LENS
150° Ultra Wide A+ Viewing angle with 6 layers of lenses for more ambient light
capture with 4MP OV4689 CMOS sensor.

GETTING STARTED:
1. CHARGING:
• FIRST TIME USE: Before rst me use we strongly recommend that you
fully charge your ROVE R2-4K Dash Cam to prevent any errors.
• Charge Camera by connecng in your DC car charger or to any PC’s
USB. (You can also use your 1.5A USB charger (for ex. iPhone or
Samsung USB phone charger). Make sure NOT to exceed 1.5A or
damage to device may occur.
• The camera charges the baery whenever power is detected through
USB cable.
• Solid RED Light: indicates that the device is being charged. When the
device is fully charged the red indicator light will turn OFF.
To fully charge the unit from a dead baery it may take up to 120
minutes.
• If the baery is fully discharged, the device will not turn ON
immediately when the charger is connected. Allow depleted baery to
charge for few minutes before aempng to turn the device ON.
2. OPERATION:
SETTING UP YOR DASH CAM FOR THE FIRST TIME:
• You will need to insert a memory card before you can start recording.
Please insert class 10 or higher Micro SD card up to 128GB max for
reliable operaon.
• The camera comes with default sengs which allows you to start using
your camera right out of the box. This allows you to just install the
camera and plug in the power…. SET & GO!
• You can always customized various sengs oered by ROVE R2-4K Dash
Cam. This user manual will guide you in customizing your own sengs
as you read through it and aer you understand it fully.

3. INSTALLATION:
INSTALLING CAMERA TO WINDSHIELD MOUNT:
• Before you install camera to your windshield, it is essenal to rst
properly install the mount. Please make sure to install in a place where
it will now obstruct the driver’s view at any point.
CONNECTING THE CAR CHARGER TO 12V DC POWER OUTLET:
• Be sure to only use ROVE approved car charger designed for your device
specically. Using incompable cables or charger can cause serious
personal injury or damage your device.
INSERTING MEMORY CARD:
• Do not insert / remove Micro SD card while camera is turned ON, which
may cause damage to memory card.
• TO INSERT: Insert Micro SD card with the gold contacts facing the LENS/
FRONT Side of the camera. Push the card in unl it will click and lock
into its place.
• TO REMOVE: Gently push its top edge inward unl it clicks and then
pops out, and then pull it out of the slot.
TIP: User Paper clip to easily insert/remove small Micro SD Card.

TURNING ON/OFF YOUR CAMERA:
1. AUTO POWER ON/OFF:
• Auto Power ON: ROVE R2-4K Dash Cam is designed to auto turn ON and
start recording when it receives power, e.g. When the car engine is
started.
• Auto Power OFF: It is also pre-congured to turn itself OFF
automacally when the power gets disconnected within few seconds,
e.g. when the car key is turned to LOCK posion.
2. MANUAL POWER ON/OFF:
• To Manually Turn ON: Press the power buon once.
• To Manually Turn OFF: Press and hold the power buon for at least
2 seconds.
UNDERSTANDING 3 – CAMERA MODES:
ROVE R2-4K has 3 dierent camera modes:
1. VIDEO MODE
2. PHOTO MODE
3. PLAYBACK MODE
The “M” buon will act as two funcons. MENU buon & MODE buon.
MENU Buon: Pressing ONCE will act as MENU buon.
MODE Buon: Pressing & HOLDING for 2-seconds will act as MODE buon.
TO SWITCH MODE: Press & HOLD “M” buon for 2-seconds.
NOTE:
• Each Mode has their own separate Menu Sengs.
• System Sengs are common between all three Modes.

Video mode lets you record live videos and store them on the installed
Micro SD card memory card.

While Under Video Mode:
• Press OK buon to Start/Stop video recording manually.
• Press POWER buon Once to take a snapshot.
• Press UP buon to Mute/Un-Mute audio recording with video.
• Press DOWN buon to Turn O/On LCD. (camera sll stays ON if you
use this buon – Red LED indicates camera is sll ON)
• Press MENU buon to enter Video Mode’s Seng Menu.
• Press “Emergency Lock Buon” while video is being recorded to
manually lock the video, so it will not get deleted by
loop cycle funcon.
• Press & Hold “Emergency Lock Buon” to turn ON/OFF WiFi.
2. PHOTO MODE:
Photo mode lets you take a snapshot.
While Under Photo Mode:
• Press OK buon to take a snapshot
• Press UP buon to ZOOM IN.
• Press DOWN buon to ZOOM OUT
• Press MENU Buon to enter Photo Mode’s Menu Sengs
• Press & Hold “Emergency Lock Buon” to turn ON/OFF WiFi.
3. PLAYBACK MODE:
Playback mode lets you play your video le or photos. It can even let you
delete or lock any videos while viewing it.
While Under Playback Mode:
• Press OK buon to Play/Pause Video.
• Press UP buon to scroll to Previous (Icon Here) video le.
• Press DOWN buon to scroll to Next (Icon Here) video le.
• While Video is being played, Press DOWN buon to FF video
playback up to 8x.
• While Video is being played, Press UP buon to REVERSE FF Video
playback up to -8x.
• Press Menu buon to enter Playback Seng Menu.
• Press & Hold “Emergency Lock Buon” to turn ON/OFF WiFi.

VIDEO SETTINGS:
To Enter Video Seng:
1. Make sure you are under Video Mode
2. Press “M” buon ONCE to enter Video Sengs.
3. Press “DOWN” buon to access video sengs.
4. Now use “UP” or “DOWN” buons to scroll through > then press “OK”
buon to enter parcular seng > then press “OK” buon
again to conrm that seng and exit to video seng’s menu.
1. RESOLUTION:
You can choose the video resoluon you like. Higher resoluon videos will
take more storage space.
• 2880x2160P @24fps (4K) (Default)
• 2560x1440P @30fps
• 2304x1296P @30fps
• 1920x1080P @60fps (FULL HD)
• 1920x1080P @30fps
• 1280x720P @120fps (Can Play: SLOW-MOTION VIDEO)
• 1280x720P @60fps
• 1280x720P @30fps
2. LOOP RECORDING:
To Turn ON LOOP RECORDING: Choose either 3-min, 5-min or 10-min.
This allows you to split your video les length to selected seng.
If You Select OFF: It will only record one long video le unl memory
card gets full. When memory card runs out of memory, camera will
display a message “CARD FULL”. At this me camera will NOT record
any further unl you make space available wither by deleng video or by
formang memory card.

3. EXPOSURE:
Adjust video exposure seng for either brighter or darker video according
to your preference.
• 0.0 (Default)
• -2, -1.7, -1.3, -1.0, -0.7, -0.3, 0.0, +0.3, +0.7, +1.0, +1.3, +1.7, +2
4. TIME LAPSE RECORD:
Ulize this seng to record a me lapse video.
NOTE: If you ulize this seng, it will record me lapse video ONCE,
unl the power gets disconnected. Aer camera receives power again,
it will start under normal video recording. You can start/stop me lapse
video recording manually by pressing OK buon.
• OFF (Default)

• 2-images/Second
• 1-image/Second
• 1-image/2-seconds
5. MOTION DETECTION:
This seng can be used for various purposes such as remote video
surveillance, during parking etc.
When this feature is turned ON: The built in camera will record ONLY
when there is moon detected in front of camera’s eld of view by using
its advanced moon detecon algorithm.
Camera will START recording when there is moon detected and STOP
recording when there is no more moon in front of the camera.
CAUTION: We do NOT recommend this seng turned on during your daily
commute, because it could have missed video seconds due to connuous
driving will not have comparison algorithm for moon detecon feature
to work accurately. This feature works best when camera is sll and
nothing is moving in front of the camera. Now when moon is detected
camera will start recording unl there is no more moon.

6. PARKING MODE:
This feature is designed to work when camera is SHAKEN during Hit-&-Run
event while your car is parked.
When someone hits your car and shaking is detected based on your
G-sensor seng, the camera will turn ON automacally > then START
recording for 1-min on internal baery > then lock that video le
safely so it does NOT get deleted by loop cycle funcon & turns it self OFF
automacally.
NOTE: This funcon is designed to run on internal baery. Internal baery
can provide power up to 8-minutes when it is fully charged.
• OFF (Default)

7. RECORD AUDIO:
ROVE R2-4K has built in microphone to record audio with video. You can
choose to record mute video by choosing OFF. You can also press UP
buon to mute/un-mute while video is being recorded.

8. G-SENSOR:
G-Sensor is a 3-axis impact gravitaonal accelerometer which is designed
to detect physical and gravitaonal forces on the camera.
While Video is Being Recorded: In the event when G-Sensor is triggered
due to physical or gravitaonal impact force on the camera, the current
loop cycle length of video le will be locked so it will NOT be deleted by
loop cycle funcon.
CAUTION: In the event of accident please make sure you retrieve your
footage before using your camera again to prevent the loss of important
video le due to the loop cycle funcon, incase the force was minor which
did NOT trigger G-Sensor to lock video le automacally. It is best pracce
and recommended to you to retrieve all necessary video footage aer any
event of accident before using your camera to prevent loss of vital video le.

Parking Mode: G-Sensory seng also impacts Parking Mode feature based
on your seng selecon.

9. SPEED UNIT:
You can choose desired speed opon stamp to be displayed and recorded
on video stamp based on your selecon.

To Enter Photo Seng:
1. Press & Hold “M” buon to enter Photo Mode.
2. Press “M” buon ONCE to enter Photo Sengs.
3. Press “DOWN” buon to access photo sengs.
4. Now use “UP” or “DOWN” buons to scroll through > then press
“OK” buon to enter parcular seng > then press “OK” buon
again to conrm that seng and exit to photo seng’s menu.
1. CAPTURE MODE:
Here you can choose take single shot snapshot or set self mer according
to your preference.
• Single Shot (Default)
• 2-Second Self Timer
• 5-Second Self Timer
• 10-Second Self Timer
2. RESOLUTION:
Here you can choose your desired photo resoluon. Higher the resoluon
beer the pixel resoluon for captured image.

This feature allows you to take burst capture of 3-Frames/Sec with single
press of a buon.

10. IMAGE QUALITY:
This feature allows you to set the quality level of an image captured.
